A critical bug was discovered in the code applied to Singularity recently. This bug allowed the one-shot destruction of celestial objects, like stations, stargates, asteroids, etc. Rebooting Singularity did not restore the objects.
Needless to say, we consider this bug a show-stopper, and Singularity has been removed from player access until the bug is fixed.
We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause, but since players are being stuck in systems where the stargates or stations have been destroyed, we feel this is the best step to take.

you can easily miss a few 0's for celestials health, when doing all that coding.

oh man, that would be fun
Though I'd probably shoot all the stargates in a system and get stuck.

You didnt have to take it out. Just invent 1600mm Super Howitzors and give them that special ability.

I kept saying the Death Star POS was a bad idea in the content team meetings, but Oveur insisted. He muttered something about not having the only titan after RMR's deployment and wanted to up the ante.
On a more serious note, there are a whole range of potential causes for the bug. Someone in the thread mentioned putting a wrong number of zeros in a database entry. One of the vols said it could be a missing if/then statement. Regardless of the cause, the Devs are looking into the issue and will have it resolved in the very near future.

Well. It's obvious that celestial objects aren't supposed to be able to take damage. But now they can...but they prolly don't have any hit points associated with them, so when they get shot...
Do we have any sort of ETA on when the server might be back up? Are we looking at possibly days offline?

I would guess there's a flag on all celestial objects that renders them unkillable.
I would expect that stations with shields would be left unaffected, as they still have hitpoints and don't have this flag.
Somewhere, someone broke that flag. - Proud member of the [23].

Just imagine if the bug had made it on the TQ
PS where the people who discoverd the bug punished? IMHO I dont think they should be. Though blowing up all the stargates may have been excessive

Maybe they added some if/then?
IF station == damage.taken > 0
Then station == pwned

After hours camping a station last night, I like the idea. 'Come out of your station or the whole thing gets vaporized. HAHAHA !!!!' Sorry, should go to bed now. Almost 8 o'clock in the morning.
