i have been doing command, sec., & internal sec. lvl 3's in molden/hem for the last month and i have been wasting alot of time getting the loot for what really doesn't amount to much!?!? only decent drops are those from the drone mission kills, recycling those mins turns out an ok amount of isk after the sale. so, is it worth it to go around space and to pick the loot, or is it better to get through the mission and start another and work on the lp's alot faster? ps: every time i go to a can, i hope to find the mother of all mods inside... am i chasing a dream? lol! pss: when i was doing belts in low sec, the loot was much better!?!?
thanks in advance,

What I can't use, I recycle. End up with enough minerals to build another BB. Add all those occasional protype and scout guns to my growing collection

It's a matter of knowing what missions, and more specifically, what ships and structures within the missions, drop decent loot. Sometimes it's worth it, and sometimes it's not.

Well, I grab every last bit of mission loot i get, What I can,t use or sell, or if it isnt worth it to process. I offer it to my corp members or throw it in the corp hangar and when time comes to squash the un usable junk in the corp hangar, its easier for our industrial types to wip us up a cheap ship.

Specialising in running missions I ALWAYS go back for the loot. Every mission I run is lvl3/4 and I always seperate my loot into two piles after takin anyhting I want to keep. The first pile is for loot worth over 100k isk. This I sell on the local market, undercutting the other orders available so it sells fast, the second pile I save for a monthly refine. Givn the sheer amount of loot a mission runner can aquire in a month and given my perfect refining from skills and rep, it means I can make a LOT of money from mission loot. The refined loot also lets you build more ammo or modules etc, and I have previously found a BPO and a +2 implant in normal mission ships, so it pays to look.

Edited by: Cade Morrigan on 27/11/2005 15:26:17 I pick up every scrap of loot and refine what I don't want or can't make good ISK on. The recycled loot becomes my ammo, missiles, and ships down the line. L3 loot isn't ALL bad either (just mostly bad), I found a 3mil ISK cargo expander and a 6mil ISK gun last week on one mission.

I got 2 14m cargo expanders this week from LvL 3 agent missions, and I only tend to do 1-2 missions per night if they are the biggies like Angel extrav etc..

Looting takes time, but it 'could' be good loot. Like last night I shot 3 frigate rats at a gate, and decided to loot the cans. I got a Beta Hull Cargo from one of them. Normally you wouldn't loot from those kind of rats..

Decent cargo expanders seem to drop from almost anything. I've gotten several good ones off of junky little 5k bounty guys.

I ditched looting level III and IV missions a long time ago. There are only particular cans that I'll bother looting when I know they contain something decent, and sometimes battleship cans in non-deadspace missions. Otherwise I tend to make much more money doing more missions per hour than taking the time to loot.

I loot simply to have spare standard items and once in a blue moon I might get something useful - I drag a corp mate with in a speed-fitted Ity V, I kill, he loots.
But I do missions for the LP... 3 Connections books in under 2 weeks; two of them from the same L4 agent...

Our corp recieves a substantial ammount of minerals from combining and refining the junk loot of mission runners. I can see soloer saying eh heck with it I dont wanna scoop all those cans. But combine the mission loot from a dozen peeps and you can make a pretty large pile of minerals.

I always collect all of the loot. But I have 2 characters, one of which fits an Iteron out for speed and bombs around the previous "level" while my main is taking out the next one (level 4's). Saturday I got a 40m CX-1 implant, but it wasn't a random drop - I expect it only ever drops from a certain target. Anyway two things:
(1) I can't stand leaving a mess behind me
and
(2) I can refine the loot and make drones and stuff with the minerals
I don't think I would be arsed to do it if I just had 1 character though. It would take too long, especially as you can't use MWD in deadspace.

I was wondering about this subject long and hard saturday night after completing the Angel Extravaganza LVL 4.
Now this mission is one of the hardest lvl 4's and yet the rewards in potential loot drops are dreadfull.
A corp mate and I always mission together as its more enjoyable than just pluging away solo, also lets you try small tackler/BS setups etc, anyway, we netted about 20 million in bounties but the loot was terrible the named BS at the end didn't even drop a can.
This situation is something that definately needs fixing. I headed out on friday in my enyo and did about an hour of 1/10 serp complexs. at the end of it I had 1 BPC and some named guns worth nearly 20 mill. Earlier in the week I did a couple of hours of 3/10 and netted 80 million in 2 bpc's within a 2 hour period.
My total risk in the complexs was 30 mill for an enyo and about 60 mill for my vigilant neither of which i am in any danger of loosing. Compare that to a mission where we warped into an angel level and were both webbed immediately and tackled by multimple cruisers/frigs and bs's at 15km. Total risk nearly 300 mill for a 20 mill reward. (maybe another 2-4 mill if we collected all the trash cans, but when you go to the first bs can a 600k seraphim and it only has 100 large charges in, you loose all insparation to collect the rest.)
When you look at how much time effort and money is involved for the loot offered, its no wonder people are farming complex's to death.
I really enjoy doing missions and have spent many, many hours getting my standings well above 8 with all my agents. I currently have 5 active lvl 4's and 10 lvl 3's so i am not just moaning.
Its bad enough that the mission rewards seem to be mainly isk or usless commodities, without the nerfing of rewards from storyline missions. Can't remember the last time i saw a +3 implant offer.
On top of this we have crap loot. After that mini rant the simple answer is NO its not worth it..... but we can but hope one day it will be

You're dreaming mate. Chances are they won't improve the mission loot drops, they'll just nerf the living hell outta the complexes.
Since when have CCP fixed a balance issue by anything but nerfing?

That 200m Dread Gruistas Ballistic Controll System I looted on a level 2 was worth it :) Since then I always pick up loot.

I pick up every single lootcan, too.
Fly mission with slow ship, bookmark can, return to station, jump into fast hauler and pick up the cans.
You will get some nice stuff for your own (you decline to get arbalest heavy or stuff like this?), some stuff worth to sell, lot of stuff to recycle.
In my "early days" (1,5month ago ) I checked every freakin' single item for it's worth on market compared to the minerals I would get . Right now, I know most of the items or don't care about loss of some 1000isk when recycling instead of selling it.

I've found level 4 loot to be about 80% crap that gets recycled, 19% stuff to sell or use, and 1% omfg!
As a rule, unless I'm in a tearing hurry, I'll collect all the loot on the off chance there's something useful in there. Most of it gets recycled once I've checked the markets, but the mierals come in handy.

In case anyone reading this doesn't already know, you can bookmark each stage of a deadspace mission, go turn the mission in to your agent, put your MWD on, and then warp to each bookmark and retrieve the cans. Turning in the mission poofs all of the structures but the cans remain.
I'd difinitely prefer to see fewer cans drop but each one that does has more stuff in it. Picking up 30 cans and having 20 of them contain nothing but "Basic" items or ammo is really annoying.

They said their addressing loot in the upcoming expansion, but it sounds like its just rat loot in 00, not mission loot.

Sometimes you get something that's worth quite a bit, so I feel that it's risky NOT to loot everything. Yes, there is a whole lot of crap out there (Yes, I really want more basic modules), but it's that nugget of gold that's somewhere in the crap that makes it worth it. Cargo Expanders are the best example of this, they're worth so dang much. ______________________________
