The EVE: Into the Second Decade book is just a couple of weeks from going to print. To finish things off, we'd like to get a few of your predictions for the months and years ahead. All you have to do is post your prognosis below and we will go through and pick the best ones, whether they be plausible, absurd or simply entertaining. Don't go mad; 50-100 words will be plenty.
If you need some help thinking what to write, here are a few questions to get you started.
1.What will be the game be like in in the future? 2.What feature am I looking forward to and why? 3.What is my greatest fear for the game?

1. What will be the game be like in in the future? I see EvE becoming (if not already) the most beautiful MMO out there with all the artwork being done.
2. What feature am I looking forward to and why? The rebalancing of Heavy Assault cruisers. Cruisers are the most fun ships to fly solo and small gangs, and HACs really add to the fleet.
3. What is my greatest fear for the game? My greatest fear is that I will not have enough free time to play EvE. Since I started playing in 2011, EvE has only improved in every aspect for me. |

1.What will be the game be like in in the future? I imagine the ships and all assets will get bumped up to v4, the launcher will take over EVE and the log-in screen will be forgotten. And that people are still using XP even though it is no longer supported.
2.What feature am I looking forward to and why? Wormhole space/Other UK-space and exploring deeper and further into it. Wormholes have always attracted me for the lack of politics, and the sheer awesomeness of the feeling like you are a true explorer.
3.What is my greatest fear for the game? That CCP will ruin high-sec and make all of the "carebears" leave EVE, and make EVE into a slow descend into death. Or that they make an expansion so awesome, that hundred thousands of people join EVE and that EVE becomes overpopulated and make it boring in some way or another. |

1. EvE will be mostly the same way it's been so far. The sandbox with all its people. The game will get prettier and some minor things will change but EvE always stays the same in the end.
2. Not really looking forward to any specific feature. Just hoping to see more things: more ships, more modules, more options.
3. My greatest fear for EvE is that CCP loses its integrity and makes microtransactions more prominent. Dumbing down is the 2nd biggest fear. |

In the future, CCP will redeploy the Mothership concept, and it will use mechanics that don't exist yet. The Gallente Mothership will be unbelievably sexy, while the rest fail to attract the eye.

*wall of text sorry TLDR version is underlined
1.What will be the game be like in in the future? The complete space MMO immersion I am waiting for since I started understanding the vision you crazy CCP guys have. WiS a real planetary battlefield. etc..
2.What feature am I looking forward to and why? THIS
3.What is my greatest fear for the game? In complete opposite from the perspective of some others. I fear this game will only get to 1M subscribers in an other 10 years.. I mean there is so much space here..
I know I will get a lot pf hate for this but I am in support "dumbing down" the game as in: stop beeing a spreadsheet overly complicated slow paced Space simulation hobby into more of a FUN GAME. There is still a load of "not so well designed" old features, like the scanning you guys did well fixing, that need a LOT of love. "dumbing down" is quite a harsh expression for "fixing uselessly complicated old and not well designed game features"
My greatest fear is that you don't manage to redesign old parts of the game while keeping current players happy and making it easy to use for new players.
I want 10M subscribers by 2020. More people to fly with and less newbs crying they did not understood what jumping in low sec could involve and how to survive to it. |

1.What will be the game be like in in the future? The EVE cluster grows as technology becomes more powerful, while New Eden expands to a universe far greater than anything else. Pilots mourn the login screen no longer as they simply plug into the cluster through an adaptive implant.
2.What feature am I looking forward to and why? That damn door finally opens, CCP announces that podpilots can now breed. The New Eden cluster fills to the brim with digital and human life, all wearing tophats and monocles. The return of the jukebox, including a new mix by RealX. (make it so, CCP!)
3.What is my greatest fear for the game? CCP finds itself in financial difficulties for some reason. After attempts to save the company, the cluster is shutdown and the majesty of EVE is a mere memory. Thousands of spaceshipgeeks gather in Iceland to gatecamp the CCP offices and commit mass hamster replacement.

Here is my response, Hooray response.
1. What will be the game be like in in the future? I think, and hope, it will be a much more immersive and gameplay divergent universe. Avenues using other hardware to connect into the universe. Fighters controlled by pilots using Oculus Rift, Mercs invading stations using Dust514 on PS3/4, and a whole plethora of others.
2. What feature am I looking forward to and why? I'm looking forward to Walking in Stations finally being finished. Playing Dust514 , you get a glimpse of what that might, and could be like, and it is just tantalizing enough to make it a tease for what Incarna/WIS could have been (and should currently be).
3. What is my greatest fear for the game? My greatest fear is that the game will stop evolving and getting more in depth for fear of alienating the bitter vets. The giant alliances always cry foul because they want to shoot ships in shiny space, but for every vocal forum troll, there are 3-4 players who get turned away because of all that eve is, is only shooting ships in space. The universe could, and can, be so much more interactive, yet I fear it will continue to be nothing more than that. |

1.What will be the game be like in in the future? EVE will become a complete science fiction space simulation inhabited by hundreds of thousands of players. We will be on the planet, in stations and of course, in our ships. NPC Factions and Corporations will slowly give way to complete player control of all core functions of the game world.
2.What feature am I looking forward to and why? A futures market. Making a profit from rising prices is fun, but making it from dropping ones is even better! Also, I would like to feel like a real space daytrader.
3.What is my greatest fear for the game? Excessive simplification that caters to the impatient seeking instant gratification. EVE has to stay a long-term game. |

The continued exponential transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich will cause eventual economic collapse as consumers can no longer afford consumer goods. EVE will become a pay-to-win game purely through it's own evolution, as the elite few hold all in-game resources and the only token that could be of any value to them is PLEX, which is the one thing they can not acquire through in-game means. |

More than anything, EVE is constantly shifting community built around the actions of its players. Its future is dictated by the whims of those courageous enough to seize it when the chance comes. While CCP achieved so much in terms of building a beautiful game with EVE, tt is the my fellow capsuleers both loyal friends and treacherous enemies alike that I look forward to during the login process. EVE will only cease to be what it truly is when the community abandons it but until then, fly safe! |

The future of the New Eden universe looks amazing. With the connection to DUST 514 only getting better from here, we have so much to look forward to! Having 2 games to jump back and forth from, both being VERY casual friendly and hardcore friendly, I would not rather be so involved in any other game. Thank you CCP for everything! |

The future of EvE Online is exciting as well as very expansive, limited only by the imigination of the Devs, and the EvE community who continue to contribute ideas and suggestions as to the game play and game styles. As much as I am frustated by some mechanics of the game, I am also amazed by some of the ideas coming from the game developers and the community, although the actual game play from the proposed theory turns out to be less than what was anticipated. A result of perception I suppose.
I myself would like to see a more expansive universe, where the universe will reveal itself to be more infinite than that which is currently known even worm hole space. A universe uncontrolled by any alliances, a universe full of more riches and wonder, a universe where a 50 man blob gate camp is unseen and unheard of, a universe where a single capsuleer or a small corp can go and explore and set up a base and work away building resources and collateral without too much aggro from those who would seek to hinder an adventurers chosen path.
My biggest fear for the game is the drying up of ideas, the game becoming too expensive to continue to play, the game choosing to go down a route that is not particularly attractive. I once read back in 2005 when I first joined the Eve Online community that the game makers, I do not think it was CCP then, stating that they had enough content to continue for ten years, well ten years has now passed if you agree that the game was born in 2003. I hope that there is enough content to continue into the next decade and beyond. As long as people continue to play EvE, there will always be a future for the game.
I have many more ideas as to how to improve and how to go forward, too many to add to the above, but I have one over riding thought and that is :

1. As the Earth (Planet Terra) humanity is officially introduced to the other extraterrestrial races throughout the universe (Pleiadians, Arcturians, Orions, Andromedans etc. etc.), the newfound neighbours from the universe bring new ultra-advanced technology as a gift to the earthlings. The majority of EVE players lose interest in EVE and find Real Life more like science-fiction than EVE. The ones remaining in EVE have been in basement too long to have forgotten where they stored the key to basement door.
2. I'm looking forward to have a personal hover-shuttle, what has the design of Gallente Shuttle in EVE and which can be used to fly to Mars or Venus for a quick 3 day vacation.
3. My greatest fear for EVE is that all the regional markets throughout New Eden collapse completely because there is no destruction anymore, to fuel the production. Suddenly everyone find it completely pointless to pew pew each other and just want to give bear hugs all around. |

I am still very new to EvE and I started playing because EvE is unlike any other MMO out there: EvE actually has a sense of accomplishment, a sense of what you're doing actually affects the game. It is a game that makes you think and has so many options of what you can do. I hope that EvE never loses its uniqueness, and also that certain ability to be harsh and unforgiving. I am most certainly looking forward to new expansions (whatever CCP decide to do), any new content added to an already perfect MMO experience is a plus for me.
1.What will be the game be like in in the future?
The game will be even more immersing than it already is. More content will tie in with lore and player created events and create a gameplay experience that is unriveled. (Even moreso than it already is now)
2.What feature am I looking forward to and why?
For me, I am looking forward to CCP taking a look at Dreadnaughts. The Phoenix is my favourite ship in the game and it is my solemn duty to fly one (once I've skilled accordingly of course).
3.What is my greatest fear for the game?
My greatest fear would be for EvE to lose its ability to make you think. EvE is very much a thinking persons game, and to lose this, would be devastating.
I haven't been here for all of the 10 years, but I tell you I will be here for the next ten. |

High end prognosis: EVE becomes a full fledged virtual universe, from space to planet surface, where the player can immerse in a unique universe and find his niche, be it as the humblest shop owner or as a supreme leader of the fate of thousands of space warriors. All gamestyles are acknowledged, from solo players to herd minds, and from devote nolifers to people who need to be able to stop playing to attend real life without being punished for it.
Low end prognosis: EVE fades away as the endogamy of existing gameplay being expanded to retain the same niche players already enjoying the game kills any chance to atract new kinds of players and draw fresh blood. The continued development drives long time players away at a constant pace as each of them gets the wrong side of a change and is dealt the final blow. Beyond a certain point, the game becomes demographically unsustainable and dies.
Most likely prognosis: the dificulties to find a off-house EP lead the game astray in two possible ways: a "player" EP whose cognitive bias pushes the game development according to his niche interests and alienates minorities; or a "non player" EP who is unable to grasp the game before start making decissions and leads it into a catastrophic alienation of minorites, some of them too powerful to be ignored. Albeit doesn't misfires, DUST 514 fails to retain a sizeable population and the interwining with EVE doesn't becomes a great deal to a demogrpahic who are not EVE players. Meanwhile, the 5-year development plan of adding more space to EVE becomes just an iteration of the existing unsustainable "conquer and defend" mechanics, whereas the deepening of unused space (aka: hisec) through new gameplay mechanics is fatally dismissed because of development constraints. In 5 years, EVE is facing a low end prognosis and CCP try to cheer up with a "jesus feature" for 15th anniversary, which fizzles due to lack of development resources. WoD is already starting to quick in as it atracts a new demographic for CCP products and EVE is quietly but fatally removed from top corporate focus as WoD takes the crown and CCP start working on a fourth unrelated IP The Greater Fool Bar-áis now open for business, 24/7. 1. I think with the latest changes to ice mining that most of the ice mining alts will start mining ore. Which means cheaper ships and more people willing to pvp. The more there are, the more content there is for everyone!
2. Honestly this idea of building gates to new systems has me wanting to build a time machine to get there faster. When wormholes came out i took vacation for the chance to be the first!. I will do the same here!
3. That the game goes free to play. The issue with free to play games is that the company has to make it worth while for the player to give them money. I fear this may ruin what eve is. Pay to win is never fun. |

Eve has continuously shown a clear evolution of the game both in content and player desires, but in technological avenues as well. I have been playing for several years and have watched this universe grow, evolve, and update to take advantage of new ideas as well as more powerful hardware to make the experience compelling, and immersive. With so much room left to develop and explore I look forward to further developments with content such as Incarna, new ship types, and new star systems as well as integration with new technologies such as Oculus Rift, and DX11 to make the experience something to truly behold. |

In the future, I see EVE online having solved its lag problem with the advent of terabyte per second internet speed. Thousand player fleet fights will be much more fun!
2.What feature am I looking forward to and why?
The high resolution texture pack and special effects! Eve Online deserves an overdue boost to their interface and HUD. PC graphic technology is constantly advancing and it's time for Eve to take the leap.
3.What is my greatest fear for the game?
My greatest fear for this game are some of the players themselves. Carebears mostly. They threaten what made EVE online so rewarding, taking risk. |

1.What will be the game be like in in the future? CCP will have completed refactoring the codebase (pos's anyone?) & iterating on all the content that was plugged in by the big expansions prior to Incarna but not developed to it's full potential.
2.What feature am I looking forward to and why? The completion of WiS - Eve is spaceships but WiS opens the scope to so much more - imagine all those players camped into station actually having something to do rather than ship spinning or logging off. Eventually the ability for 'in-person' infiltration of enemy stations, hacking the docking computers to allow your people to dock & take the station over etc etc... WiS doesn't have to take over, but even a little content there would make a huge difference. Heck, even being able to hack a POS/jumpbridge/station using a hacking module on a ship would be grand.
3.What is my greatest fear for the game? Three fears vie for the title of 'greatest' 1) CCP lose their original vision of 'complete' science fiction sim - sci-fi is about more than just spaceships... 2) As the game becomes more mainstream the great personalities & hardcore players lose interest, stop playing and are replaced with people who don't really understand that Eve is about making your own story not having it fed to you 3) CCP lose focus on the PC game in favor of 'trinkets' (eg tablet games) and mini-games (the hacking mini-game feels inappropriate for something happening in space, that should have been a WiS feature). |
