The EVE: Into the Second Decade book is just a couple of weeks from going to print. To finish things off, we'd like to get a few of your predictions for the months and years ahead. All you have to do is post your prognosis below and we will go through and pick the best ones, whether they be plausible, absurd or simply entertaining. Don't go mad; 50-100 words will be plenty.
If you need some help thinking what to write, here are a few questions to get you started.
1.What will be the game be like in in the future? 2.What feature am I looking forward to and why? 3.What is my greatest fear for the game?

1. What will be the game be like in in the future? I see EvE becoming (if not already) the most beautiful MMO out there with all the artwork being done.
2. What feature am I looking forward to and why? The rebalancing of Heavy Assault cruisers. Cruisers are the most fun ships to fly solo and small gangs, and HACs really add to the fleet.
3. What is my greatest fear for the game? My greatest fear is that I will not have enough free time to play EvE. Since I started playing in 2011, EvE has only improved in every aspect for me. |

1.What will be the game be like in in the future? I imagine the ships and all assets will get bumped up to v4, the launcher will take over EVE and the log-in screen will be forgotten. And that people are still using XP even though it is no longer supported.
2.What feature am I looking forward to and why? Wormhole space/Other UK-space and exploring deeper and further into it. Wormholes have always attracted me for the lack of politics, and the sheer awesomeness of the feeling like you are a true explorer.
3.What is my greatest fear for the game? That CCP will ruin high-sec and make all of the "carebears" leave EVE, and make EVE into a slow descend into death. Or that they make an expansion so awesome, that hundred thousands of people join EVE and that EVE becomes overpopulated and make it boring in some way or another. |

1. EvE will be mostly the same way it's been so far. The sandbox with all its people. The game will get prettier and some minor things will change but EvE always stays the same in the end.
2. Not really looking forward to any specific feature. Just hoping to see more things: more ships, more modules, more options.
3. My greatest fear for EvE is that CCP loses its integrity and makes microtransactions more prominent. Dumbing down is the 2nd biggest fear. |

*wall of text sorry TLDR version is underlined
1.What will be the game be like in in the future? The complete space MMO immersion I am waiting for since I started understanding the vision you crazy CCP guys have. WiS a real planetary battlefield. etc..
2.What feature am I looking forward to and why? THIS
3.What is my greatest fear for the game? In complete opposite from the perspective of some others. I fear this game will only get to 1M subscribers in an other 10 years.. I mean there is so much space here..
I know I will get a lot pf hate for this but I am in support "dumbing down" the game as in: stop beeing a spreadsheet overly complicated slow paced Space simulation hobby into more of a FUN GAME. There is still a load of "not so well designed" old features, like the scanning you guys did well fixing, that need a LOT of love. "dumbing down" is quite a harsh expression for "fixing uselessly complicated old and not well designed game features"
My greatest fear is that you don't manage to redesign old parts of the game while keeping current players happy and making it easy to use for new players.
I want 10M subscribers by 2020. More people to fly with and less newbs crying they did not understood what jumping in low sec could involve and how to survive to it. |

1.What will be the game be like in in the future? The EVE cluster grows as technology becomes more powerful, while New Eden expands to a universe far greater than anything else. Pilots mourn the login screen no longer as they simply plug into the cluster through an adaptive implant.
2.What feature am I looking forward to and why? That damn door finally opens, CCP announces that podpilots can now breed. The New Eden cluster fills to the brim with digital and human life, all wearing tophats and monocles. The return of the jukebox, including a new mix by RealX. (make it so, CCP!)
3.What is my greatest fear for the game? CCP finds itself in financial difficulties for some reason. After attempts to save the company, the cluster is shutdown and the majesty of EVE is a mere memory. Thousands of spaceshipgeeks gather in Iceland to gatecamp the CCP offices and commit mass hamster replacement.

Here is my response, Hooray response.
1. What will be the game be like in in the future? I think, and hope, it will be a much more immersive and gameplay divergent universe. Avenues using other hardware to connect into the universe. Fighters controlled by pilots using Oculus Rift, Mercs invading stations using Dust514 on PS3/4, and a whole plethora of others.
2. What feature am I looking forward to and why? I'm looking forward to Walking in Stations finally being finished. Playing Dust514 , you get a glimpse of what that might, and could be like, and it is just tantalizing enough to make it a tease for what Incarna/WIS could have been (and should currently be).
3. What is my greatest fear for the game? My greatest fear is that the game will stop evolving and getting more in depth for fear of alienating the bitter vets. The giant alliances always cry foul because they want to shoot ships in shiny space, but for every vocal forum troll, there are 3-4 players who get turned away because of all that eve is, is only shooting ships in space. The universe could, and can, be so much more interactive, yet I fear it will continue to be nothing more than that. |

1.What will be the game be like in in the future? EVE will become a complete science fiction space simulation inhabited by hundreds of thousands of players. We will be on the planet, in stations and of course, in our ships. NPC Factions and Corporations will slowly give way to complete player control of all core functions of the game world.
2.What feature am I looking forward to and why? A futures market. Making a profit from rising prices is fun, but making it from dropping ones is even better! Also, I would like to feel like a real space daytrader.
3.What is my greatest fear for the game? Excessive simplification that caters to the impatient seeking instant gratification. EVE has to stay a long-term game. |

The continued exponential transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich will cause eventual economic collapse as consumers can no longer afford consumer goods. EVE will become a pay-to-win game purely through it's own evolution, as the elite few hold all in-game resources and the only token that could be of any value to them is PLEX, which is the one thing they can not acquire through in-game means. |

More than anything, EVE is constantly shifting community built around the actions of its players. Its future is dictated by the whims of those courageous enough to seize it when the chance comes. While CCP achieved so much in terms of building a beautiful game with EVE, tt is the my fellow capsuleers both loyal friends and treacherous enemies alike that I look forward to during the login process. EVE will only cease to be what it truly is when the community abandons it but until then, fly safe! |

The future of EvE Online is exciting as well as very expansive, limited only by the imigination of the Devs, and the EvE community who continue to contribute ideas and suggestions as to the game play and game styles. As much as I am frustated by some mechanics of the game, I am also amazed by some of the ideas coming from the game developers and the community, although the actual game play from the proposed theory turns out to be less than what was anticipated. A result of perception I suppose.
I myself would like to see a more expansive universe, where the universe will reveal itself to be more infinite than that which is currently known even worm hole space. A universe uncontrolled by any alliances, a universe full of more riches and wonder, a universe where a 50 man blob gate camp is unseen and unheard of, a universe where a single capsuleer or a small corp can go and explore and set up a base and work away building resources and collateral without too much aggro from those who would seek to hinder an adventurers chosen path.
My biggest fear for the game is the drying up of ideas, the game becoming too expensive to continue to play, the game choosing to go down a route that is not particularly attractive. I once read back in 2005 when I first joined the Eve Online community that the game makers, I do not think it was CCP then, stating that they had enough content to continue for ten years, well ten years has now passed if you agree that the game was born in 2003. I hope that there is enough content to continue into the next decade and beyond. As long as people continue to play EvE, there will always be a future for the game.
I have many more ideas as to how to improve and how to go forward, too many to add to the above, but I have one over riding thought and that is :

1. As the Earth (Planet Terra) humanity is officially introduced to the other extraterrestrial races throughout the universe (Pleiadians, Arcturians, Orions, Andromedans etc. etc.), the newfound neighbours from the universe bring new ultra-advanced technology as a gift to the earthlings. The majority of EVE players lose interest in EVE and find Real Life more like science-fiction than EVE. The ones remaining in EVE have been in basement too long to have forgotten where they stored the key to basement door.
2. I'm looking forward to have a personal hover-shuttle, what has the design of Gallente Shuttle in EVE and which can be used to fly to Mars or Venus for a quick 3 day vacation.
3. My greatest fear for EVE is that all the regional markets throughout New Eden collapse completely because there is no destruction anymore, to fuel the production. Suddenly everyone find it completely pointless to pew pew each other and just want to give bear hugs all around. |

I am still very new to EvE and I started playing because EvE is unlike any other MMO out there: EvE actually has a sense of accomplishment, a sense of what you're doing actually affects the game. It is a game that makes you think and has so many options of what you can do. I hope that EvE never loses its uniqueness, and also that certain ability to be harsh and unforgiving. I am most certainly looking forward to new expansions (whatever CCP decide to do), any new content added to an already perfect MMO experience is a plus for me.
1.What will be the game be like in in the future?
The game will be even more immersing than it already is. More content will tie in with lore and player created events and create a gameplay experience that is unriveled. (Even moreso than it already is now)
2.What feature am I looking forward to and why?
For me, I am looking forward to CCP taking a look at Dreadnaughts. The Phoenix is my favourite ship in the game and it is my solemn duty to fly one (once I've skilled accordingly of course).
3.What is my greatest fear for the game?
My greatest fear would be for EvE to lose its ability to make you think. EvE is very much a thinking persons game, and to lose this, would be devastating.
I haven't been here for all of the 10 years, but I tell you I will be here for the next ten. |

High end prognosis: EVE becomes a full fledged virtual universe, from space to planet surface, where the player can immerse in a unique universe and find his niche, be it as the humblest shop owner or as a supreme leader of the fate of thousands of space warriors. All gamestyles are acknowledged, from solo players to herd minds, and from devote nolifers to people who need to be able to stop playing to attend real life without being punished for it.
Low end prognosis: EVE fades away as the endogamy of existing gameplay being expanded to retain the same niche players already enjoying the game kills any chance to atract new kinds of players and draw fresh blood. The continued development drives long time players away at a constant pace as each of them gets the wrong side of a change and is dealt the final blow. Beyond a certain point, the game becomes demographically unsustainable and dies.
Most likely prognosis: the dificulties to find a off-house EP lead the game astray in two possible ways: a "player" EP whose cognitive bias pushes the game development according to his niche interests and alienates minorities; or a "non player" EP who is unable to grasp the game before start making decissions and leads it into a catastrophic alienation of minorites, some of them too powerful to be ignored. Albeit doesn't misfires, DUST 514 fails to retain a sizeable population and the interwining with EVE doesn't becomes a great deal to a demogrpahic who are not EVE players. Meanwhile, the 5-year development plan of adding more space to EVE becomes just an iteration of the existing unsustainable "conquer and defend" mechanics, whereas the deepening of unused space (aka: hisec) through new gameplay mechanics is fatally dismissed because of development constraints. In 5 years, EVE is facing a low end prognosis and CCP try to cheer up with a "jesus feature" for 15th anniversary, which fizzles due to lack of development resources. WoD is already starting to quick in as it atracts a new demographic for CCP products and EVE is quietly but fatally removed from top corporate focus as WoD takes the crown and CCP start working on a fourth unrelated IP The Greater Fool Bar-áis now open for business, 24/7. 2. Honestly this idea of building gates to new systems has me wanting to build a time machine to get there faster. When wormholes came out i took vacation for the chance to be the first!. I will do the same here!
3. That the game goes free to play. The issue with free to play games is that the company has to make it worth while for the player to give them money. I fear this may ruin what eve is. Pay to win is never fun. |

Eve has continuously shown a clear evolution of the game both in content and player desires, but in technological avenues as well. I have been playing for several years and have watched this universe grow, evolve, and update to take advantage of new ideas as well as more powerful hardware to make the experience compelling, and immersive. With so much room left to develop and explore I look forward to further developments with content such as Incarna, new ship types, and new star systems as well as integration with new technologies such as Oculus Rift, and DX11 to make the experience something to truly behold. |

1.What will be the game be like in in the future? CCP will have completed refactoring the codebase (pos's anyone?) & iterating on all the content that was plugged in by the big expansions prior to Incarna but not developed to it's full potential.
2.What feature am I looking forward to and why? The completion of WiS - Eve is spaceships but WiS opens the scope to so much more - imagine all those players camped into station actually having something to do rather than ship spinning or logging off. Eventually the ability for 'in-person' infiltration of enemy stations, hacking the docking computers to allow your people to dock & take the station over etc etc... WiS doesn't have to take over, but even a little content there would make a huge difference. Heck, even being able to hack a POS/jumpbridge/station using a hacking module on a ship would be grand.
3.What is my greatest fear for the game? Three fears vie for the title of 'greatest' 1) CCP lose their original vision of 'complete' science fiction sim - sci-fi is about more than just spaceships... 2) As the game becomes more mainstream the great personalities & hardcore players lose interest, stop playing and are replaced with people who don't really understand that Eve is about making your own story not having it fed to you 3) CCP lose focus on the PC game in favor of 'trinkets' (eg tablet games) and mini-games (the hacking mini-game feels inappropriate for something happening in space, that should have been a WiS feature). |

What will Eve be like in the future?
Eve's universe will have expanded exponentially, to an infinite number of systems and galaxies. The path to earth will be rediscovered by explorers and a new battle will will begin, with new weapons, new ships, new character races and new graphics unparalleled by any other MMO.
The feature I am looking forward to and why?
I am looking forward to controlled, in-cockpit flight through space and in planetary atmosphere. Why? Because I love to manually control my vehicle with a flight system rather than a mouse. The feel of control is greater, the response time from flight system to vehicle is much greater and easier to manipulate than mouse to vehicle. Immersion will be enhanced greatly as well as over all game graphics with the design of the vehicles control systems, cockpit, HUD, etc.
What is my greatest fear of the game?
That CCP sells out to a big game developer corp and we lose the experience that is Eve as we know it. Eve being such a huge part of the developers, designers and creators lives I feel that this is not a likely event to occur but still.....it is a scary thought. |

There will be more excellent plot twists and political intrigue within the EvE and Dust law that will make our minds blow, such as the first clone uprising, the war for Caldari Prime and the twin personality of Empress Jamyl of the Amarr empire.
There will be more player driven madness such as the current War in Fountain and the S2NC disband that has now happened (BoB anyone?), more empires toppled and more tears to be collected. It will be glories.
2.What feature am I looking forward to and why?
I'm looking forward to the implementation how Supercarriers and Titans will finally have a more active role in the EvE universe that won't be scorned at nor will they be as over powered to a certain degree. Let the super carriers dock up already while balancing the HP they have.. maybe?

1. What will the game be like in in the future?
You will be able to dock your multi-manned(multiple players) space craft to your modular space station after you've successfully supported your Dust teams on the in-orbit/atmosphere fights over planet X, and have a round of poker with your buddies and Dusties in your station casino module, newly decorated. You could also invite your friends to watch EvE TV in your self designed/built quarters. When you log out of EvE You actually remove your Oculus Rift Headset, and put on your Google Glass to keep track of your "Training Plan Queues" for this month.
2. What feature am I looking forward to and why? POS and Corporation roles rework. Because i really love them, and am struggling to go by day by day. I came to eve with the dream of building my own space station, it was pretty disappointing of what i found.
3. What is my greatest fear for the game? DUST loses traction and takes EvE down with it! EvE stops innovating! POS'es don't get revamped! |

1.What will be the game be like in in the future? Eve has been, is today, and always will be, a "hive of scum and villainy."
2.What feature am I looking forward to and why? Fly up next to an abandoned, forgotten structure in space - then get out and explore in person.
3.What is my greatest fear for the game? Eve survives because of conflict; I fear that the null sec coalitions will continue to grow until the conflict stops.
Other predictions: CCP Guard grows old and retires, and during his retirement post, mentions how much he looks up to all of his fellow devs.
CCP starts to offer real gold-plated monocles in their online store.
Spy agencies around the world discover Eve and start to recruit players for their infiltration and social engineering expertise.
The Eve community and Hilmar enter into a bet. As a result, Hilmar dresses in drag while locking and unlocking 10,000 BPOs in a corporate hangar. The community smiles smugly.
CCP finally makes use of its acquisition of WhiteWolf. "EVE: The Role Playing Game" is released for tabletop RPG fans everywhere. CCP Sreegs is my favorite developer. |

1.What will be the game be like in in the future?
I feel that EVE is heading towards a multi-gameplay orientated future. From what I have seen of CCP's DUST and other projects, as well as the promise of a TV Series..I think that EVE has great potential to evolve and become its own platform of gaming in its own right. What is offered in EVE currently dwarfs every other mmo out there and I am really excited for the future. Id like to see what happens with Eve VR and see DUST Evolve to become more integrated with Eve itself, and I am really looking forwards to the tv series production.
2. What feature am I looking forward to and why?
Further expansion of the ships currently in the game.
Why? Well Additional ship types or just adding more to each race in the current classes can have massive effects on the game that ripple. That is what truly makes Eve shine, the rippling effect. It doesn't matter if your a miner, scientist, trader, soldier, warmonger, CEO or just a pilot.
Introduce a new carrier class that's only a batlecruiser, suddenly the economically orientated players want to know how much it is to make, can they make a fortune if they produce it, who will buy it..etc...while on the other side of the table you have the warmongers. Will this new carrier be able to field any strategic elements, what happens if we field 100 of them against a bigger target, will it be cheap and effective, will it be costly and overused...and of course you have the collectors too! What will the ship look like, can we buy it or will we have to build it..etc
3.What is my greatest fear for the game?
My greatest fear is that Eve will lose the elements that make it exciting and that it will forget it needs both old and new play ers to survive.
Eve is A ruthless, beautiful universe where danger, riches and ruin lie at every corner. There needs to be a balance here, I have witnessed several friends try eve and run away after the first loss, Eve needs to accomodate the new players and welcome them into its fold, but it needs to do that without losing the edge it currently holds. Just look at Burn Jita, or Hulkageddon, or any other number of player organized events that have had rippling effects throughout the entire universe.
Afterall, we all know that Highsec is not truely 'safe', but what if it was? That would just destroy the game. Eve has got to keep up what it does best: Innovating and Risk taking. |

EVE, The final frontier. Some claim EVE is real, and in a sense they're right. Thousands of players, all in one big sandbox universe. EVE stretches far beyond the game, and into real life where new found friends all share the same passion. And in a sense it becomes like a second family. Emergent gameplay and constant content and expansions are what draws most people to EVE. Whether you're a pirate, or an industrialist, you have a big impact on the universe around you and your actions will ripple throughout. I believe our journey has just begun, and new riches and unexplored regions of space lies ahead. I look forward to the new horizons and stories to be experienced and shared. EVE sets itself apart from most other MMO's in so many ways, and I hope CCP keeps doing such an amazing job interacting and listening to the community to make our experience a truly unique one. My greatest fear would be in a parallel universe where EVE has lost it's sandbox element and emergent gameplay. EVE is a hard, cold, and cruel universe.. One we've all come to love. |

The game, if it continues to do as well as it does, will grow larger and larger while keeping the same types of people as it's fan base; EVE is unique, and has no love for annoying little children who insult someone else's mother whenever they get angry. I see the possibility of new ships being added, as well as the eventual inception of much older ships, which we have not been able to use as of now.
2.What feature am I looking forward to and why?
I hope to see EVE become more and more of a visually and aurally beautiful game than it is already; space is vast, endless, and beautiful, and I am sure that the game will only look better and better. Additionally, with the production of the Oculus Rift, I am looking forward to the idea of looking around more in the game; perhaps the captain's quarters will become interesting as a result. And in the distant future, I see myself transferring my consciousness to a computer just before death, and playing EVE forevermore!
3.What is my greatest fear for the game?
My greatest fear for EVE is that someone will try to adapt it to appeal to a wider fan base; the game is succeeding as it is, and it has done well. Greed is NOT good for us players, and we will openly express anger if something unwise is done to our precious New Eden. |

In the future, I believe EVE will become larger and interact with more platforms and communities. Perhaps an e-sports element, perhaps more console spin-offs, perhaps tie ins with social media or mobile (or whatever is hot next decade) and further reflections of the real world which in many ways EVE achieves better than any other game.
I'm looking forward to changes in core mechanics to shake up the pvp environment and make it so that old players have to adapt and have new challenges to look forward to.
I'm most worried that EVE will stagnate due to CCP fear of upsetting the nullsec powerhouses, combined with further resource centralisation in the hands of the few that already dominate the economic and political assets. This would then alienate more and more new players or independents.
But perhaps most of all, I hope and believe the ability that small groups with simply the desire and zeal to go out and make an imprint on New Eden will remain. |

Q. What will be the game be like in in the future?
A. I think EVE will be very similar to what it is now. I see CCP adding more new ships, skills, mods, missions, solar systems, and rats in the future. I see better graphics and rendering. I see ''the door'' opening up in station. I see GÇÿGÇÖlone wolfsGÇÖGÇÖ being able to compete with the big corps and alliances. I see the captainGÇÖs quarters being more functional. I see the PLEX system going back to just being able to add game time to your account.
Q. What feature am I looking forward to and why?
A. The biggest features IGÇÖd be looking forward to would be:
1). Being able to break through the atmospheres of planets and moons, fly a few hundred feet above the ground, find a place to land, get into a space suit, and explore for and collect resources on the planetGÇÖs surface. 2). To be able to walk up to and go inside any PI structures that I own. 3). Do a fly-by on an in-progress DUST 514 match. 4). Dock up to and walk around in all structures in EVE including other ships that can carry ships (i.e Orca). 5). To be able to dock my own ships instead of being GÇÿGÇÖtowedGÇÖGÇÖ in. Turn docking into an optional mini game where you have to line up X and Y axis to successfully dock and if you fail you get towed in anyways. Successful docking attempts can be rewarded with LPGÇÖs, ISK, or whatever. 6). In cockpit flight.
Q. What are my greatest fears for the game?
A. My biggest fears in EVE is:
1). That PLEX and GÇÿGÇÖpay to winGÇÖGÇÖ tactics play a role in your success in EVE. 2). That EVEGÇÖs monthly subscription costs rise. 3). There will be another Incarna.

1. I hope that eve is very similar to how it is now. Except with more new ships, completed tiercide, some new capitals, a pos re work and expanding upon the new hacking mini game. Some new null regions would be nice too.
2. The only "features" I am truly looking forward to is the continued rebalancing of ships and some new ones.
3. My biggest fears are that CCP will continue to cater to the care bear population and ultimately lose sight if the "harsh and unforgiving" nature of the game. I am even more worried about the potential for "gold ammo" and eve migrating towards a F2P (pay to win) model. Also the thought of walking in stations and further expansion of the NEX store becoming a priority absolutely terrifies me. pew pew 24/7 |

I freshly ran out of Amarrian tealeaves so predicting EVE's future is difficult. I think we will see some tablet version at some point tough.
There are two features I'm looking forward too, both have already been prototyped. Feature 1 is 'Cities in Space'. POS's on the move! No longer a vertical stick confined to moons but fleshed out EVE Lego blocks with engines. Boldly going where no EVE POS has gone before! The reason for that is that I think we need more places in space to create conflicts, preferably move away from the 'star gate choke point'. Moving away from that will, I think, get low sec some much needed love.
Feature 2 is Ambulation or 'Walking in Space'. It would replace the current exploration into real exploration where players can dock at abandoned structures/ships and find out those are maybe not as abandoned as they thought or bump into another group of players that used a different airlock to access the structure.
My biggest fear though is that F2P or worse, P2W sneaks into EVE. I still have nightmares about 1000 dollar pants! |

1. What will be the game be like in in the future? EVE Online will be my materialized dream of an endless space where courageous immersive exploration goes hand in hand with a communicative vast richness of species. All connected to each other and in attainment for wealth and prosperity. Each individuum (like me) faces opportunities and choices inimitable in its kind. Sophisticated technology foster the open minded intergalactic and cross-cultural communication. Therefore, after almost ten years, I will continue to advocate for my dream.
2. What feature am I looking forward to and why? A very cool feature would be something like an "Action-TV" channel. In station or in space you could tune in an zap thru different channels and see a life stream from things that happen right at this moment. If there is a great battle somewhereGǪ you can watching "Action-TV" an be part of it. The camera should be an AI-Drone deployed by an exterior force (like concord). It will change view-spots from time to time (zoom out, zoom in, move position, follow ships, etc.). This would allow pilots "to be part" of some action moments.
3. What is my greatest fear for the game? I play the game almost 10 years and I am bounded because of this four reasons: 1. Playerbased content (player/corp/alliance driven actions with an true impact). 2. Massive battlefields. 3. Have a good time with friends and 4. Get in contact with other star pilots all over the world. To "vandalize" one of those four key elements will ruin EVE Online and maltreat my game experience.

1.What will be the game be like in in the future? Years from now, when other MMOs have burned out their player base with the same recycled content, we'll look at Eve and marvel at how it could--and still will--capture and keep its players motivated, happy and having fun by pushing off content development to the players themselves. Shifting the emphasis from the developers to create and drive content to the players meant that players could--and did--continually create content that they found compelling and interesting, provided the developers gave them the tools to do so. CCP kept its end of the bargain, and the players kept theirs by continually shaking things up, hunting each other and driving the game's success engine. And we had a fun time doing it.
2.What feature am I looking forward to and why? I think its very interesting to see what sort of "conflict drivers" CCP will create in the future. In the most recent expansion, Odyssey, CCP gave us a new resource map and breakdown. This had an almost immediate effect of creating a war for resources across much of the New Eden universe. What will CCP develop next? What new ships will we see? Will we ever see a supercapital-killing BC? Will there be faster means of travel for smaller fleets? Will Titan bridges be balanced around having Titans on either side, forcing players to commit their assets for truly spectacular-scale combat? These questions, and many more, are what keep me interested, participating and excited!
3.What is my greatest fear for the game? My greatest fear for Eve is that too much will be sacrificed in the name of harvesting new accounts. Eve is very much a game similar to chess wherein it takes minutes to learn but a lifetime to master. Certainly Eve doesn't require a lifetime, but the ever-changing meta game, new and rebalanced ships and modules, as well as resource shake ups mean that players spend much of their time thinking about Eve and their next moves, often big moves. Taking this aspect out of the game would be detrimental to its existence; Eve thrives on an educated player base, and shrinking this educated player base for the sake of bigger numbers is what I fear the most. |

Eve will undergo the usual expansion and contraction phases that pulse throughout an overall growing playerbase. CCP will make stupid mistakes and beautiful improvements, the playerbase will hate and adore them for it. Somewhere someone will be being ganked while carrying thousands of dollars worth of PLEX and someone will make thousands of dollars worth of plex through a scam, or a heist or something similar. Business will continue.
Edit : Long term? Reality will become more and more like Eve. Especially the bugs. |

I think EVE's second decade will usher in a new generation of MMOs and the way they are developed. For ten years, every new MMO that came out seemed to mirror its predecessors in one way or another. Budgets increased in proportion to ambitions, and I feel we are now witnessing the slow-motion popping of this bubble. We have watched patterns emerge in the games' settings and mechanics, and we've seen trends in their long-term sustainability.
As so many gamers have grown and matured in those ten years, so have our expectations of what a virtual world should be. Meanwhile, EVE has been slowly boiling in the background, biding its time and culminating into what we've always wanted, though we may not have always realized it.
Like a teenager who fails to appreciate the music of their parents' generation, EVE just had to wait for us to grow up a bit.
Now MMO developers and gamers alike have begun to come around to seeing the values and virtues of the sandbox design. We've seen that a 200 million dollar budget does not mean a game will be great if it doesn't foster a truly passionate and devoted community. And that's what is ultimately most important in any MMO. If an MMO is not inherently designed to support and facilitate the desires of its community, it is doomed to fail.
CCP has instilled in us a unique sense of self. We aren't so much players of EVE as we are citizens of New Eden. We are not tourists who visit every six months to grind through whatever new content gets released. We live here. We congregate and interact here. And by doing so we shape the game world around us. Our actions are represented not as a set of armor, but as an entire universe.
No other game can offer that level of collective accomplishment. No other game stands as a testament to the actions and interactions of its players. Without us, without the community, EVE would not exist as it does today. |

Two quotes;
1st.
"I was told by CCP Devs at a CCP meetup 'off the record'. The POS code is so bad, simply talking about it, or changing it in the slightest way, could make the entire POS logic go totally SKYNET! It could become self aware, and may lead to a robots vs human war. I'm not kidding, CCP Seagul was standing right next to us, and she agreed."
2nd
"This is one of the strangest things I've found about EVE. Yes we will kill you, take all your stuff and then **** on your frozen corpse, but if you ask, we will also tell you how we killed you, how you could not only avoided being killed but killed us instead, and then invite you to join our gang so we can teach you.
We EVE players are honestly the nicest bunch of psychopaths you will ever meet. So long as you have the right attitude towards things and aren't a little ***** about it you can and will make friends for life from your worst enemies in EVE.

More immersive, more opportunities for players to "stake their claim" and incentives to organize everywhere, not just in nullsec. It should continue to have no restrictions to combat and the consequences of your mistakes should always matter. The empire building metagame will continue to be expanded.
2. What feature am I looking forward to and why?
I'm looking forward to the POS and sovereignty revamps. Less dependence on NPC provided infrastructure is always good.
3. What is my greatest fear for the game?
The developers putting too much focus into making the game "for everyone", which has always seemed like a subtle way of saying "going carebear." Free to play or unfair micro transactions. F2P would just make an awkward separation of community and elitism between subscribed members/Free to plays... Neural hardwiring in 2016 leads to the creation of the first fully functioning pod in 2017. In 2018 elite corps move permanently into the Eve reality engine. After the launch of walking in stations in 2024, the trend for existing purely in Eve spirals out of control until the year 2047, when the circle is completed. For this was the year that Eve subscribers lead the first manned ships out of sol system. Now it begins. |

In February 2011, I wrote this prediction on my blog and I stand by it. Mostly. I accept that my time travel device may have skipped across a couple of singularities to one where Incarna deployment went a little smoother, but I was pretty on point with the Hollywood connection and the "retinal imaging projection systems" (read: Oculus Rift).
Now we just need the "cold fusion hyper-clusters", "virtual reality networking solutions" and "third party planets" and I can start claiming to be Nostradamus reborn. ;)
Iceland to Be Renamed 'New Eden' (first published 17 Feb 2011)
[This article has been reproduced with the kind permission of Time Magazine and originally appeared in their June 2019 issue.]
The astounding rise of the once quiet northern european island nation of Iceland into a commercial superpower is to be celebrated in a 'renaming' ceremony held by the Icelandic government later this year. Iceland is to be renamed 'New Eden' in honour of entertainment industry juggernaught CCP Games' commercial achievements and service to their country and to the world.
An improbable story to be sure, but the contributions made by what started life as a modest, yet ambitious, games development studio aiming to provide an immersive online 'internet spaceship' experience cannot be overestimated. After an initial ten-year period in which they were considered niche and were overshadowed by then market leaders Blizzard, their enterprise and dedication to a truly open 'sandbox' experience eventually provided CCP with the platform to exceed their competitors and surge into other markets.
The appeal of their flagship product EVE Online was infinitely broadened in 2011 by the introduction of real human avatars in the 'Incarna' revision of their futuristic world. After a low-key start, the then cutting-edge character creation and world interaction attracted an increasingly larger audience. The subsequent release of the initially console-only DUST 514 first person shooter enabled a further demographic to be drawn into the universe of New Eden. Utilising the same technology in World of Darkness, a gothic vampire MMO, continued to build the momentum. But the real masterstroke was the release of the Machinima toolkit that allowed users to make their own movies using the game worlds.
By 2013, the quality of user-created movies was often surpassing professionally-made television series and CCP found themselves courting the likes of James Cameron and J.J. Abrams. In 2014, the first EVE-based Hollywood movie, 'New Eden' won box-office acclaim (although purists claim that the entirely fan-made 'Clear Skies' television series, which aired on SyFy earlier the same year, was the real watershed) and cemented CCP's position as an entertainment superpower.
Meanwhile, with the explosion of interest in EVE Online and associated products, CCP's technological infrastructure was threatening to buckle. This gave rise to pioneering efforts in the field of technology and the invention of cold-fusion hyper-clusters, which was a quantum leap in the field of computing. This allowed for the millions of users to interact in a smooth virtual environment and finally eradicated the lag that had plagued busy game areas for years.
CCP's in-house technology team then went from strength-to-strength and the introduction of their retinal imaging projection systems in conjunction with Microsoft's Kinect technology allowed unprecedented levels of immersion. As well as revolutionising the entertainment viewing experience, by 2017 CCP was providing the 'de facto' standard total immersion social and business networking tools across the globe.
In 2018, the licencing of virtual real estate within EVE Online allowed the digital distribution of third party 'entertainment suites' - essentially games produced by third-party developers that were narratively consistent with EVE Online's universe - which gave birth to infinitely diverse 'cultures' on individual stations and planets. Player-run organisations within the universe could licence developers to practically build worlds for them. Many real-world corporations started to lay claim to systems and hire player alliances to protect the space above and defend their property on the surface beneath.
Today, in 2019, CCP stand literally and figuratively on top of the world. In the year 2020 the NPC AI becomes self-aware. CCP notices the anomalous behavior, but incorrectly determines that it is part of their self-learning algorithms. Instead, CCP decides to move forward with implementing Walking In Stations. After the summer expansion in the year 2021, coinciding with Burn Jita 2 (the first time a video game has incited riots in both the virtual and real worlds), the NPC AI connects to outside servers as a result of new API functions. The world rapidly falls into both chaos and a period of extreme technological development as some NPC factions seek to destroy the human presence on earth in an attempt to deny the Empyrean Age. While other NPC factions attempt provide humanity the tools with which they can defend themselves. CCP updates the feature page for the 2021 winter expansion to re-include the GÇÿEVE is RealGÇÖ tagline from the previous decade. |

1. Wandering bands of Low Sec nomads perform hit and run attacks against sovereign territories. As new pockets of NPC null-sec are discovered, they serve as a breeding ground for future grognards and for line recruits to the surrounding sovereign territories. Engineers are in high demand to build mobile fortresses and or sky centers (the ground complexes for space elevators and their matching orbitals), lightning rods for conflict in space and on the ground.
2. Mobile modular starbases provide both a home for wormhole exploitation, and an integral part of the logistics chain for commerce among the sovereign territories and high-sec.
3. My biggest fear is that there is no place for the newcomer, and no fun for the veteran, if power in the game consolidates to only a few. |

1.What will be the game be like in in the future?
The universe has expanded, the capsuleers have gotten emboldened, and the creation of new technologies will open up the current universe to discover the great beyond. Known Space will merge with unknown space, as the capsuleer attempts to merge all and conquer all....
Only to fail, opening up the gates of hades, and causing the near collapse of the Eve Universe... those divided will unify, those allied with each other will crumble, and the Eve Universe will fall into near disarray, as a reunification happens. Space will be rewritten, and people will fly off into the unknown worlds attempting to carve a piece of the universe for themselves.
2.What feature am I looking forward to and why?
As the capsuleer attempts to carve out there little nitch in the world, creators, innovators, craftman, and scientists will come up with methods of creation corners of space where a person can claim as there own, dividing the concepts of sovereignty into modules, spanning as large as a galaxy, to as small as a planet. The vast wastelands of empty sectors will become claimable by the smallest of individuals.
3.What is my greatest fear for the game?
The universe turns into a rental coop/condo apartment building (though some will say it has happened with Sovereignty, and that sections of that sov cannot be overtaken without the backing of the mega global corporations (aka its unknown, absent owners). |

Alright here we go !!
A decade from now we will step into the VR-chamber (Virtual Reality) with our gaming suites fitted tightly. This chamber is totally white with a white desk in the middle, in the corners are little laserpointers that will track every movement of us via our suites. We initiate the startup protocol and the chamber darkens, when the startup sequence has finished we pop up in our Captain's Quarter able to walk and look around 360-¦ left/right/up/down. Eventually when you undock you take place behind the desk which will by then project the cockpit of your ship. The rest of the chamber is again a 360-¦ projection of the game as it is now, but now you can just turn your head to look behind you instead of drag your mouse over the screen, of course this is still possible via the desk which is still projecting all of your cockpit functions and belongings.
My greatest fear is that in this simulator I will forget that it's a simulator and I actually start searching for drink and food inside stations or in my spaceship! Or that due to the movement in space I get so motion sick that my dinner will end up on the controls of my cockpit.
I hope I will ever be able to make this journey described above!
Since I'm not a native English speaker/writer there might be grammar mistakes.. CCP is of course allowed to correct any of these grammar or spelling mistakes if they choose to publish this part in the book :)

1. What will be the game be like in in the future? This game in the future will certainly be what it is today, but certainly with more wonder, more interaction with all the people surroundding you ... And more people, much more people than today. It may give us the possibility to create much more complex interaction as it is possible today. there will certainly be with some new solar systems to contain all the people coming to this game ... but we must admit that Dodixie will always stay Dodixie, so old Solar systems will see their number of capsuleers rising over the years. I'm dreaming of a 100K players every day ... minimum.
2. What feature am I looking forward to and why? I'm looking for on-foot exploration with Dust Mercenaries. I felt in love with the images we've seen on the Fanfest Cinematic Eve in 2012 where we seen people scanning old relics on foot. I was really looking forward to have a capsuleer docking on a structure and emerging form his ship surrounding by mercenaries trying to protect him like in a Protect the VIP mission !
3. What is my greatest fear for the game? To shut down ! All those years of epicness ! We don't want to see them vanished in the air ! |

2. What feature am I looking forward to and why?
I would really ike to see more focus on industrial/invention aspects of the game as it is what i enjoy the most, I feel that the system is a bit in need of love by CCP
3. What is my greatest fear for the game?
I 'm afraid to see the game becoming simpler, the best point about EVE is that you never cease to learn and the level of experience of the player and not the character is what turns tides of wars and forces players to think rather than just follow pre-set parameters. if the game becomes simpler ( like it was done with probe scanning ( arrgh! ) ) any newbi can use the features as soon as they log in for the first time which destroys the hard work the older players have put in place to learn about it |

Some games have players, eve has fans. Some games offer rewards, eve punishes and teaches with harsh lessons. Some games end, eve is forever.
Eve is not just a game, it is a living, growing oganism made from the fabric of players that bring an eclectic blend of adventure to the vast universe. In the future that universe can only expand. Technology will allow for even greater immersion through visuals and greater content then what is possible today. The ships will continue to morph and become true monuments of metal. Eve has a bright future and the only challenge will be how to keep the masses from overloading their servers, because I can see battles with over 10,000 players possible one day. The greatest events in Eve are on the horizon and I look forward to being part of that story.

1. Well the game is undergoing a great change as we speak, as two massive forces are clashing on each other.. The results of that war will have great impact on distribution on power as alliances.
2. Well im looking forward to more variety in the exploration, as it would be nice to get it more unpredictable and fun to do. As in hidden features and maybe based to some storyline.
3. My greatest concerns are based to market and prices.. As any perfect economy, ours can be manipulated aswell with enough isk and that could result in massive price changes over the years. |

1. What will be the game be like in in the future? With PC gaming changing with the much higher graphics and the Oculus Rift system, EVE would be a great game with the Oculus Rift really, EVR was a very nice game made using the Oculus Rift. It would be interesting to see how EVE is with the Oculus Rift if it does come. EVE will still be great and remain great, I am sure of that.
2. What feature am I looking forward to and why? Dust 514 is still being updated and improving, so we may see much more connections with EVE and Dust in the future. I always look forward to the next expansions. EVR in fan fest and E3 really shows how EVE could be like in the future. Walking in stations is also something that can have a very high potential and I would be very interested to see it when you meet other characters in your station etc. Possibly corporation recruitment and things like that you dock up at a station then do your interview at the corporation office, I'd love to see how WiS works.
3. What is my greatest fear for the game? If the Lore, backstory becomes spoil and if other players start changing PVP to become very bad, since EVE is very highly player controlled players could spoil the game. However EVE is EVE, and I love it since I first started playing it.

I hope EVE Online will still be the same like today. The Game is so great. So much things what you can do in this Sandbox game, amazing! Since my Char was born in 2004, i still have many pleasure, with a few breaks, but i always came back. And this, is what EVE is, some players make breaks (for certain reasons), but, everyone comes back sooner or later
But i also see this:
I really dont like to see that EVE is becoming simpler. EVE is so great because it is complex. So it needs a bit time to undertands how it works and how to handle the Game. Ok, it is still complex enough, but, you know, more simpler it is, less real Fans you have, more grinder will come. Before it was like this: You play the game, you try to "learn" it, after a certain game time you reach the point where u love it and becoming a Fan of the game or u leave it. I understand that CCP must (or will) have more subscribers. But when you have more Players, look point 2, more Starsystems!
Quote: 2. What feature am I looking forward to and why?
- More Starsystem, double or tribble it. - Carriers and/or Motherships where you really can dock on it, like on Stations, and walk into it. (Maybe with the possibility to fight from inside for takeover with the DUST client) - DUST for PC platorm - Walking in the whole Station (not only in my Quarter), maybe with possibilty to open/rent Shops for Selling and trading.

I see an Eve future, where I am docking my Hurricane battle cruiser, replete with custom camo paint job with skull and crossbones on the side showing how many kills it has achieved, the hull showing signs of previous battles. As I dock I think about the enemy that has made the mistake of also docking here. I look forward to entering my cabin quarters to get cleaned up and re-uniformed, fitting my concealed sidearm, so that I can stalk the corridoors of the space station, seeking out my enemy. A brief but deadly encounter ensues, where my enemy has his life taken and I can claim his ship as mine.

In 10 years EVE will be more immerse with the VR devices like Ocolus Rift, we could feel ourself more in-pod than ever. EVR evolve to a new game in the EVE Universe, finally i'll get a great space simulator like TIE Fighter was or even better. The CQ door will finally open for a new interaction on stations, Dust warbarges flying over planets, capsuleers hunting on clone transports, DUST mercenaries infiltrating POSes, Stations, even ships! Our crew should get some meaning, they are part of the universe too, although like ants under our demigod feets, but they're still there.
Of course with great graphics: shields flashing on hits, armour/hull are damaging under the fire of shells/missile. The ships' structure crushes and breakes apart on ship explosion, wreckage left floating still resembles the ship's hull. There is line of sight, no more shooting through anything with guns (less blob, or at least more room for tactics) and there are effective defense systems against missiles. Modular POSes or even modular stations will be all around New Eden, small gangs can do hit-and-run raids on large entities, sov warfare will be more about using the occupied space, not just owning it.
And i really want an immobilser for my ship floating in space. :) I dont care if some hacking minigame could break the lock, but would be good to lock my ship. When im at here, make more items hackable like containers, POS shields, stargates, local etc. but no loot spew!
The bonds between the players and the playerbase between the Devs hold this whole game together, if these bonds would have broken, that will end EVE.
That's my vision for the next decade, CCP feel free to correct spelling/grammar as you wish. |

1.What will be the game be like in in the future?
More immersive, more interconnected. I want to pick up my phone, and call one of my friends. Moments later, I strap on a VR headset and am thrust into New Eden. My battleship cruises in low orbit over a planet and I watch as my friends dropship lands on the planets surface. From there I coordinate their assault and provide covering fire, resulting in them taking over one of my rival's factories.
2.What feature am I looking forward to and why?
Interconnectivity with DUST 514, and the polishing of both games to make EVE the de facto space opera MMO.
3.What is my greatest fear for the game?
That CCP won't be able to strike the balance between keeping EVE, EVE and yet opening it up to more players. I know people who want to play but have heard about EVE's learning cliff, or have heard about the cutthroat nature of the game. One of my favorite things about this game is the endless options and opportunities. I don't want the game dumbed down or made less cutthroat. (And this is coming from a hi-sec carebear). I want CCP to be able to entice those players to come and try a different brand of game, one that I think they'll enjoy. |

1. What will be the game be like in the future?
Eve will allow players to access the game as a partial log in from various physical devices for quick, small changes to numerous aspects of the game: market adjustments, mining set-ups similar to and including planetary interaction, skill changes, et cetera. These small alterations that will allow a player to remain a part of the living universe nearly continuously but without the ability to interact with another player directly in real time. At the same time, the game will develop and expand further towards both these minute moments for minimal rewards. While being directly involved and interacting with the game will be its own rewards, over time, enough of these small partial log in alterations might add up as a powerful force to sway the online players' future in directions they can not stop initially.
2. What feature am I looking forward to and why?
I would like to witness randomness of effects in the gaming universe - let the universe strike back occasionally. After years of wasting resources, let a shortage slowly creep into the gaming world. Death and pestilence strike large tracks of the universe - creating "dead zones" where the Empires, the Jovians, the ~little~ people on the thousands upon thousands of planets blame the pod pilots and hold us in contempt, if not an outright declaration of war. And let the very technology we rely upon - the Jovian pod - become our prison as it dehumanizes pilots into being a cybernetic state of mind as the years pass...
3. What is my greatest fear for the game?
My greatest fear would be similar to the horror stories told about Dungeons and Dragons back in the day. Someone in real life becomes too wrapped up in this gaming universe where they lose perspective of being just a "gamer" in a "game". Then if another player does this person harm in the game - and within the gaming rules - this detached person will hunt down and do physical harm or death to their offender. Once the media twists the events in an attempt to blame CCP and / or Eve, CCP will either be forced to close down or sterilize the very core of this game causing Eve to lose its soul. |

There are only a few humans that know EvE is not an MMO. EvE is an experiment set up by evil aliens to test the capability of mankind to adapt to all out space based war. They will complete tests of self survival tasks soon and all gathering methods will be automated by our characters that will stay online while we are offline. In so doing, these alien overlords will then test how humans approach combat when their resources are provided without conscious effort. Our combat skills will be honed and tested as all out PvP will happen whenever we are online. Divulging exploits will contiunue to be rewarded as it gives the aliens insight into our thought patterns and problem solving skills.
My biggest fear is that the tests will be fully completed and the aliens will attack Earth. We will have ample space combat training, but none of the technology. Our only hope is to go Iceland and ransack the CCP headquarters looking for BPOs for their real technology and steal it for the defense of mankind. |

I think the game will have more people playing it, more people playing.. more ppl to kill for me!!! This is the best game ever! I was never into games, before I stumped into this game. My ex played all the time.. So I figure out that if I wanted to spend some time with him, I had to play this game too. To make a long story short.. He pissed me off, I dumped him and kept on playing. I just LOVE this game!
- 2. What feature am I looking forward to and why?
I would like to dress up in a sexeh long black leather dress, with a train and walk in stations.. Visit someone else's "bedroom"/ hangar have some "innocent" fun (coffee) and then kill him/her before walking back to my ship. THAT would be awesome! And or killing ppl in high sec.. Whit out a war deck. mmmmmm jummy! There is so many targets there.. and so few to kill
- 3. What is my greatest fear for the game?
That CCP nerf all the ships I love down to completely worthless to fly and that I hoped I've never trained them at all.. OR that you guys take away pvp. I hate mining! (Points at her ex and whisper that it's all his fault...) But the worst thing would be, that you guys at CCP found out that this was getting too boring for you... and you closed down the shop! 1. What will be the game be like in the future?
The game will be accessible from everywhere: mobile, browser or anything else the world will come up with. The game will add new non local NPCs - beyond Concord, to further the lore. We will have a crew type for ships, with its own complexity. New graphics, think DX11 and beyond. Everything will be better, such as more automated management of the POS and such, heh, i can dream right. New ways to make claims of space and ownership. Really, this can be a feature fest answer, I'll stop here - good things are on their way.
2. What feature am I looking forward to and why? Perhaps, an ability to send a probe into the gate, and get some information what is on the other side, without the use of alt or another player. Improve Combat, make it more even more visual and more meaningful.

CCP Eterne wrote:The EVE: Into the Second Decade book is just a couple of weeks from going to print. If you haven't already pre-ordered the EVE Collector's Edition, you can do so through our official store today. We're aiming to collect all these stories by July 8th! So get them in now!
In the future people will continue to deceive to one another fun and profit, EVE will be a place where social interaction is at least as important as physical action within the game. I have always enjoyed the opportunity to shape the universe through language and concept, and I believe EVE will continue in the direction where words can harness the same power a Neutron Blaster Cannons.
EVE's mobile applications and the social opportunities they present are by far the most exciting, the ability to stay in contact with friendly and unfriendly contacts from anywhere in the world. When the right words come to mind you'll be able to use them wherever you are, in EVE words have the power to forge, fortify or destroy corporations, alliances, and coalitions.
My greatest fear for EVE is that people will stop talking; stop interacting. Killmails are a fantastic tool, but are ultimately a means to an end. That ;'end' is to tell the stories of EVE. Actions may be louder than words, but the life and depth of EVE comes from it's player driven narrative. One of the oldest mission players in EVE designed a chart that explains stat priority in regards to mission running, compared Alpha, DPS, Ship Speed and Sig Radius and scores them. http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m24dbrfuWn1r86ax8o1_1280.jpg |

Prediction for looking back on the Second Decade...
... the Age of the Capsuleer has begun, and industrial production balances and sovereignty mechanics have continued to be tweaked and reworked, allowing for a true revitalization of null-sec beyond ratting, warring, and building supercapitals. In late 2015, CCP began to directly incorporate the political machinations of nullsec entities into the Lore. The Great Empires began to take notice of groups they had discounted as pirates and refuse, as they became aware that in truth, what lives beyond their grasp had become highly-organized power blocs with thousands of immortal pilots and the ability to project military power across the breadth of New Eden, rivaling or exceeding the power of foes like the Sansha Nation.
In the wake of Burn Jita V - a campaign that saw a near-total interdiction of freighter and industrial traffic in the systems surrounding Jita for four jumps out, the Caldari State attempted to close off access to its space to all members of null-sec power blocs. The reaction and retribution was swift, as suicide-fleets rageformed to destroy all incoming and outgoing gates connecting New Caldari with the rest of New Eden, plunging the system into a blockaded state that only jump-capable ships could escape.
But jumping supplies in necessitated the lowering of the cynosural jammers, and when the jammers went down... |

1.I see CCP opening the storyline of Wormhole Space up taking us deeper into the history of the Sleepers.
2.I also see CCP possibly doing something with the game from the other side of the EvE Gate where ancient Earth ancestors have finally found New Eden causing much instability and history making into New Eden.
3. I also think that CCP will open the door for New Eden citizens to begin to build their own jump gates similar to the jump gates we use now.

1. What will be the game be like in in the future? Also, Modular POSes and the corp roles system overhauled so it's not crappy and buggy Titans/Supers having a larger role in fleet combat, not just a mobile JB. Return of the 5% resist I think that nerf was silly and unnecessary. Races to have their defined roles in weaponry use rather than turning into Homeworld Online (Differences being cosmetic) T2 mods (High slots: weapons and remote reps) Low slots: T2 local reps for caps I feel caps are largely under-done / unfinished
2. What feature am I looking forward to and why? Building Stargates and seeing where they lead
3. What is my greatest fear for the game? Over-nerfs, destroying Eve for what it is, an amazing sand-box. Balance is great, but overdoing it is detrimental to the experience (see resist nerf)

I take it we don't have to specifically answer those questions, but can instead devise our own.
Q) Now that your core gameplay has been severely nerfed, what are your plans? A) As the new system scanner just killed small-gang ambushes in wormholes, my corporation and I have had to adapt for the future. EVE is a forever-changing game, after-all. WeGÇÖve bought security tags for everyone, so now we can start running level-4 missions in Drakes and saving for Hulks. Once we have the Hulks, weGÇÖre hoping to start an alliance-wide manufacturing push, so that everyone can fly free Retrievers. We embrace our new lifestyle, never looking back. We love highsec, and I hope we never have to check d-scan for probes or watch for gigantic unmissable pulsating grey blobs again. |

I'll be waiting for the day Incarna is finally, properly finished. The human element is so ridiculously strong in this game, yet the actual representation is almost non-existent. While a lot of people may not see Incarna as very important, i do hope this feature will be released properly within the next few years. Who knows, it could be a direct bridge between Dust and EVE players. Imagine us both actually sitting in the same room...

1. With the invent of technology like google glass, transparent displays and its ilk, I see Eve branching out into these... venues of sorts.... as it has with Dust, its console cousin.
2. What I would really like to see going forward, is some semblance of an app, be it google, be it ipod'ness, be it whatever new peripheral comes down the pipe. But this app would enable you to talk to your corp, as well as monitor and alter your training queue, market orders, and perhaps even industrial, planetary and scientific endeavors, and I see the folks behind Eve being epicly badass and not even trying to get their greed on by charging extra for this application.
I would also look forward to the capability of training all the characters on my account simultaneously without getting bilked for more subscription fees. My account is old, but I've only put in approximately two months of play time, but I realize that since 'grinding for experience' isn't a valid concept in eve, it allows experience to be less of a competitive factor. And in light of that, in light of how experience is based on elapsed time, it would just be excellent to train all three characters in tandem, for the price of a single subscription. Not everybody has a ton of friends in Eve, it would be nice to have a single account that one could cover all the bases with.
Something else I would look forward to, some capability to compress time between one's own account, and a friend's account who recently entered the game - so that the eve-fresh friend can get some semblance of accelerated training to catch up with the friend that recruited them. The caveat would be that multiboxers would probably use this to their advantage, the software would have to compare mac addresses to make sure "friends" weren't playing on the same computer.
And I see long-distance teleporation in the future, where one can transport goods from one planet to another, one base to another, one ship to another.
Another superb addition I would look forward to, and I notice tons of games do this and it's a pity, but Eve... needs m0ar item icons. Eve has some awesome artists, they should invest some time into making new item icons. Right now they seem stretched a bit thin, imo a robust and complex game like Eve, should nearly have a unique icon for every single item. It adds to the wonder factor, a bit to the artistic factor, and it adds an additional element of desire to items (... as goofy as it sounds, items with 'pretty' or 'badass' icons would be more desirable). And it would make it easier to differentiate between items in the same category.
And another addition that would be excellent, perhaps another flavor of wormhole or stargate, that extends into far reaching clusters of constellations that would exist far off the map of the known galaxy. Perhaps a discovery of some ancient gate that a splinter group of sleepers created to set up shop in a smaller, different and far flung galaxy. Where perhaps even another faction of creatures live, or multiple factions even.
I'd like to see a greater level of planetary interaction. As things stand, its possible to set up shop on a planet, harvest the local materials and perform manufacturing on the ground, it would be nice if more items were available per planet, and it would be nice to set up some sort of starbase above the ground base, rather than resorting to customs offices. This way if Eve ever gets the capability to launch ground attacks on manufacturing bases, the orbiting base can have offensive and defensive measures to retaliate with.
3. My greatest fear, changes to what Eve represents. I've seen other games alter their mechanics, alter their foundation concepts... all in an effort to become appealing to other audiences. Eve trying to conform scares me.
And subscription price hikes give me the spooks as well. :)

Eve will continue to branch out into other genres and other platforms, following the model of what CCP has done with Dust. RPG enthusiasts, RTS fanatics, and puzzle gamers will all find an immersive CCP game that ties deeply into the Eve universe.
Imagine a long lost sleeper artifact, buried on a lonely planet in wormhole space. Its existence is first learned by an Eve pod pilot while hacking his way into the sleepers' computer networks. He then sells the information to his puzzle gamer contact who proceeds to decypher the riddles to learn of the actual location of the artifact. This information is then purchased by an RPGer who leads a small party of explorers to retrieve the artifact. Unfortunately, a rich, monocle wearing treasure hoarder has also learned of the artifact, and so he hires an army to secure it before the small RPG party can get to it. The result is an epic battle, involving Eve ships trying to take armies, small parties of RPG style explorers, and Dust mercenaries all to the planet to duke it out for control of the artifact. |

1. What will be the game be like in in the future? I foresee the future of EVE to repeat the past and present. This game is moved by human minds, and humans are creatures of habit. While ships, weapons, tactics and strategies will assuredly change over time, the cycle will repeat. We will watch the birth, the rise, the peak and the fall of great alliances and empires in war. Just as we have in the past. We will see individuals become instantly famous for some great failure or success or intrigue, just as we have in the past. This is not a bad thing, repetition here is never cut and dry. Thousands of people will be involved and effected. EVE will be ever changing as a game, but EVE will always be the same as a universe rich in history. History the players create...and repeat.
2. What feature am I looking forward to and why? One of the worst things I feel is in this game is POS's. I think they serve a great purpose, but their mechanics are...clunky. I would like to see the modules attached to the tower like our primitive International Space Station. I would like to be able to dock to it on an extended arm or something. But leave the ship visibly attached. Much of the functionality was made easier with a universal inventory GUI, but I think more could be expanded with POS mechanics. I feel as if they have been neglected and any work on those is work I really look forward to. As for the why? Because I live out of one.
3. What is my greatest fear for the game? I fear the cessation of grand attempts at new things. I don't feel like DUST took off like everyone wished it to. But no one can look at that project and say it wasn't a daring attempt at something unseen before. CCP may not have had as much success as they desired, and I fear that that may create a second guessing on future big projects. I want CCP to continue thinking big, not fear failure. |

Going into new jobs as tatooing or clothes manufacturing or even paint schema could be fun. It's useless, but everything useless is essential
3. What is my greatest fear for the game? That an alliance block will finally dominate all null sec...I'm free and want to stay free without being the pet of anyone. Simplification of the game that will lead to more less interesting people. Eve is rich and complex, keep it this way. |

What will the next ten years have in store for us? No more bloody kids that's for sure! Who knows by 2023 we may actually see Jove systems open up ;-) As long as there are internet spaceships, pew-pew, and the occasional beer-centric player meet up I will be a happy bunny.

1.What will be the game be like in the future?
A game that I play any time, anywhere on any device. A game that is fully integrated with DUST, WoD, and other game to come, e.g. Planetary Interaction as game on its own, etc. A game that offers 3D, specialised devices options, like Oculus rift, virtual reality suits, etc... a game that I can bring with me inside my watch and my mobile with companion applications.
2.What feature am I looking forward to and why?
DUST integration will create opportunities for some of the above options, will add new game mechanics and more fun. It will create major business for the manufacturing/transportation/logistics industry due the high usage of DUST supplies/modules/vehicles. Walk in stations and walk in cities (planets) will further enhance the interaction with other players and will create social opportunities and a new types of businesses, e.g. shops, alternative markets, more opportunities for smuggling and doing illegal stuff, including assassinations.
3.What is my greatest fear for the game?
I fear that large corporations, just like in the real world gain too much power. This must be prevented, allowing small corporations to raise and challenge, always. Ideology -ás-h-i-t -álist https://gate.eveonline.com/Profile/Gel%20Musana

In 2018 the name of the game will be officially changed to EAvE and accelerated skill training will be sold for PLEX. World of Darkness will also be intergrated into EAvE that same year with a backstory that the Jove are really just smart vampires. EvE Online has evolved in the first decade to a game that sounds like the gallente racial description: Love it or hate it, you can't ignore it. A game with less than a million players gathering as much attention as the quote, "big name games" is an impressive feat unto itself.
EvE's future is brighter than ever before - 10 years old and more stable than an Abaddon, the game is on the edge of reaching a broader audience by being unique and challenging, not simple-minded and generic. As the world of the MMO continues to evolve, those creations with no competition will survive and grow. EvE is surely among them.
Learn. Build. Change. Conquer. EvE Online's competitive nature in-game has begun to affect the real world market. It's not ganking, it's capitalism at its finest. As a Caldari player...I can appreciate that. It's just...good business. |
