Generally out of respect for a well fought 1v1 I will spare the pod.
... if its some ****er I'll pod him as often as I can.
backup nearby is not a bad idea :)

Originally by: Istvaan Shogaatsu If I get challenged to a 1v1 I will always podkill unless I can't spare the sec rating. I will also have a couple of my guys standing by for the inevitable reinforcements that will arrive to help the guy I'm fighting, since fair 1v1s no longer occur in Eve Online - doubly so if your name happens to be Istvaan Shogaatsu.
I would give you a fair 1-v-1 and no whining from me if you wtfbbqblahblahblah me either. I don't bring friends, either. You are welcome to if you think it's necessary. Of course I can only bring a frigate...later on perhaps I could spare something bigger.

There are fair 1v1s to be had, but it's harder to find them these days.
In an arranged 1v1, whatever is decided in the convo beforehand is the total extent of the rules. If you agree no warpouts, neither person should need a scrambler. If you agree no EW, neither side should fear or fit against it. So, if you agree no podding, then you shouldn't have any fear about having to warp out ASAP when your ship is blown up.
No EW and no podding are the usual things I'll ask for in agreeing any 1v1, and I always honour them.

Iv only ever been in one 1v1 where there was some rules made first. That rule was to hull only and i left the pilote warping off when he had hull damage.
The rest of the times no rules was discussed and iv allways fited to be able to force him not to warp and possible pod him. Iv poded several players after bs 1v1 and never got smacked for dooing so after wards.
And i would expect my opponent to try to pod me as well.

I don't pod, unless the guy has done something to really make me want to. So in general, in a 1v1 with me, there's a 99% chance, that I won't lock your pod.
However, in every 1v1 I have ever had, I never discuss if podding is allowed. I fully expect to wake up in a clone vat during every engagement. Its not somthing I have a problem with, Lorth just doesn't do it because of some wierd or missplace virtual morality.

Boy that was a good fight and the last 1v1 I had where my enemy did not call in friends to gank me.
