When folks egos are so wrapped up in a game that they can't distinguish reality from fantasy, that's what is stupid. If in EvE you have to hide your IP to play, then this game shouldn't be played at all, as it's a haven of some serious mentally ill players who'll do anything to win.
In Europe they're talking about making mandatory IP's public, any IP hidden or such would not have access to European network from someone's proposal still in study by the high crap politicians.
I think this is good, even if in the end will end up with BigBrother paranoia and whatnot this simple decision would prevent a lot of inconveniences and also better track stupid and dangerous people on the internet.

And no it's not fine to DDOS someone's coms, I do think this is even something that might lead you take some rest in a nice jail with big beard dudes with tatoos.

Dude, if some day you get in front of a court and get a full 6months pay taken for molesting some guy, 5K Gé¼ bill to pay and 2 years full surveillance meaning a single false step from getting drunk to a park bill leads you directly to jail for the rest of those 2 years, believe me, you calm down very fast.

In the end you will finish to understand why it's stupid, but it takes some years to realize.

Do whatever you like, it's your problem after all, but if you ask me I tell you: don't

I live in denmark, and you will not get anything close to a 5KGé¼ fine or 2 years, normally 1 if you are a first time offender, unless we are talking aggravated assault or assault with a weapon.

I think there might be some sandboxy gamelike virtual gizmo on the intertubes that suits pretty well for pixel revenge.

In this case a public ID isn't needed, since VOIP operators get the IPs of anyone using their VOIP. If a perp wants to spoof, the VOIP seller can track him down. So public IPs aren't needed (that causes other abuses).

The only people needing IPs are those who run services/sites. For criminal activities, the ISPs handle that (and all the legal work).

But for these things it's normally a single source of packet flooding (not true DDoS [for that the guy has to have a bot network, and that's unlikely...too busy at his EvE addiction] pretty easily caught and shutdown. The bot DDoS that is the nightmare if not with a provider with heavy DDoS mitigation ($$$).

If your ok with one why is the other one not ok?

Where do you get the idea that it's OK? It's a criminal offence.

It's a shame being a dumbass isn't a criminal offense. The forums would be a lot quieter.

I find it interesting that no goon has started their smug crap-posting yet in this thread.
Perhaps they are under strict orders never to comment about DDoS or any DoS attacks.

I was at Fanfest. I saw my fellow Eve players. I don't think there's much chance of any punches being thrown. So I guess the answer is neither is ok, but only the first is possible.
