Countless ideas have been thrown around the forums about this. But they all have the same weakness--most don't actually stop macro miners. Some require CCP to spend more money and hire more employees, and others require game-breaking changes. Others risk banning innocents. I believe the root of the problem is simple: mining is far too repetitive. If mining was made so that it was impossible to run 10 accounts at once effectively, it would strike the problem at its root.
Now here's my question to the miners out there: How would you feel if mining required you to be attentive at the computer, rather than watching a movie? Would you not have a problem, or do you mine because you can earn money while doing something else?
it's probably been stated, but i'm too lazy right now to read all 6 pages. this is a BAD IDEA. this is just my opinion, but this stupid doomsday prophet approach to evade macro'ers is exactly what caused EQ2 to lose almost every single one of its loyal followers.
noone wants to play a game that requires work. personally, I like the fact that I can park my Retriever, engage the miners and go make myself a sandwich...don't punish everyone else because you think macro mining is a much larger problem than it really is.
honestly, I have seen several people I suspect could possibly be macro mining..on the other hand they could just be cooking dinner. in any case, it has never caused me much of a problem. there are hundreds of belts all over the place and there is ALWAYS one you can mine from. sometimes you may have to settle for pyro or scordite in its lesser yield forms for a bit if you're too lazy to temporarily move your mining ops to the next system, but oh well..thats the price you pay for SHARING a universe.
why does every single game have a following of people that are hell-bent on making everyone believe macro'ing is a problem?!? it just causes the game dev's to step up the game security making the whole thing a much less pleasant thing to play. macro'ing is NOT a problem, and just to prove it to myself I either phoned or used live support to contact 4 major online ISK sellers as well as a couple minor ones. not one had ANY in stock. if people were heavily macro'ing and selling the ISK online then there would at LEAST be a 100mil ISK lot up on one of the sites...there's nothing.
SO STOP PREACHING ITS THE END OF THE WORLD WHEN ITS NOT!!! ----- my playstyle is anti-pirate. what does this mean? it means you'll never catch me in a valuable ship and/or setup where it can be compromised. go on, trade your ammo for the scraps you'll get. |
