What does this do? Is it better to have higher or lower signature? - - -

Uh lower is better I think.
Somewhere between signature and the other ship's scan resolution and the locking pilot's sig analysis skills the results give you a certain time it takes for a lock.
Lower sig will take longer to lock by an enemy.

It also has other implications:
- a ships signature is a factor in how easy it is to hit. - if a ships signature is smaller than the burst radius of a missile explosion, then only a proportion of the damage will effect it.

Edited by: Oventoasted on 30/11/2005 21:20:36 wait then why is my signature measured in meters? like mine is 250m
asking this cuz im about to fit 3 1MN MWD 2's onto my hauler but it will increase my signature by 1500%

Signature radius is mostly fairly close to real ship size, 250m sig rad would mean around 500m long ship. There are a few ships that stray from this thoe.
You can only have 1 mwd or ab running at any time so fitting more than 1 is a waste, also fitting a 1mn ab/mwd on a hauler is not very good as they have too high mass. It will only give you around 1.7 speed multipier. You will do better with a 10mn AB.
Fitting an mwd is always a trade off. Is the size increase (and cap loss) worth it? Depends from case to case.

Ok i get what you mean about signatures but what you said about MWD is worrying me. the MWD that i have says it will give me a 550% speed increase with a 25% capacitor loss taking 50 energy every 10 secs. why do you think i will only get a 1.7 speed increase? also whta is the diff between 1MN 10MN and 100MN? - - -

Edited by: Juliet Alpha on 30/11/2005 22:05:50 AB & MWD work best on the ships they were designed for.
1MN are for frigates, destroyers, interceptors etc 10MN are cruisers, battlecruisers & industrials 100MN are battleship modules
I am not sure you can actually fit an MWD to an indy in any case due to lack of Power Grid

You can fit a 1mn MWD but its not worth it...go for the 10mn AB...its much faster and the indy cant hold the cap long enough to use a MWD well.

A 1MW AB/MWD only have that that much trust (or it really have 1.5m kg). If you ship weight 13.5m kg (like a badger 2) 1.5m kg thrust it won't do much good. You can find the formula in the on of the stickies in the ships and modules forum.
A 1mw got 1.5m kg trust, 10mw = 15m kg and 100mw = 150m kg. You can see this stat if you look at the info of the item.
