The launcher does not work for me.
(For the Devs: Its an ISP Caching probem. The files needed to identify the patch version never change size. They are text files of exactly the same size day to day. Since an ISP web cache uses the file size to determine if the file has changed it never updates in certain types of caches. This is mostly true in satellite internet such as I have. Properly handle the caching issue, and do what needs to be done to clear the current caches and you should be good. See this post: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=258646&find=unread)
The launcher wont auto apply a patch so here's how you force it to take a downloaded patch:
1. Download it to whatever directory you would like 2. With an internet connection open the launcher and let it fail 3. Go to settings -> patches -> import the patch. 4. Rerun the launcher. It will force it to be installed. All your base are belong to us! |

Hello,
I just wanted to add in this thread my problem. Today i launch the eve client, it then detects incompatible protocol so the client now detects a new version so it ask s for a 6mb download. Ounce it finishes it goes thru the process of updating closing the client, after several minutes after a 24mb download it starts another 1mb download which at this point it wont do nothing else. I forcibly close the the patching window and relaunch the eve launcher thru the launcher/appdata folder and to my surprise after 15 minutes the eve launcher just stucks on the 1/4 validating client. So i try launching client again and since the 6mb was already downloaded it goes difrectly to the updating window which now i am getting an error and it asks for the repair tool. I run the repair too and oi get an error.

Try heading here, select your OS, and click the link for "Generic Patcher". You should get a .exe for the latest client patch. Let me know if this works please. |

In case you have set this up yourself, check if the SSL port (443) is also handled correctly by your proxy. Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |

Thanks for replay. This proxy serves a lot of other traffic and other connections over ssl(443) don't have such trouble, early don't have this trouble EVE launcher, this issue being after regular launcher's update. |

Can you provide a log file for the launcher via pastebin or a support ticket? The logs should be located in [path to eve folder]\launcher\cache and are called launcher.2013.10.27.log or something like that. Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |

Just took a look at it, and according to that log file then the SSL connection via port 443 is failing. This is most likely because either the proxy or a firewall does not allow requests from the launcher on that port. Please double check your configuration, and take note that just because it works in a browser does not mean it works in the launcher, as firewalls can be configured to only allow certain applications access to specific resources . Hi. Thanks to OP for the direct links to the patch.
I have incredibly slow internet where I live, so I have often been downloading the patch on a public computer where I can't install eve or the launcher. Getting a hold of the patch and moving it to my own computer when I get home saves me hours of patching.
I have been using https://client.eveonline.com/patches/patches.asp in the past, but i does not seem to work. Is that a bug or has that site been discontinued? Regardless. This was a very helpful feature for me. I hope you will continue to support it or make an alternative in the future. |

Hi. I long time had no opportunity, to continue diagnostics. Yes, i too see in this logs, failed SSL connection to https://client.eveonline.com/patches/win_launcherinfoTQ_inc.txt, but this file i can open in browser. At the same time, i see in proxy, how launcher try get URL www.none.com:80. And I trust that more that I see on proxy. |

I see it when I look, what connections he tries to open from system where it is started.
The launcher should be picking up your system's proxy settings (e.g. the ones you specify in your control panel / in IE) without a problem. Which browser are you using? The None URL is because it could not get the info file so it does not know which places to connect to. Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |

Browser, where the proxy is specified - IE. When i specify proxy in IE, launcher beginning connection try open 87.237.39.166(client.eveonline.com):443 and then establish connection to proxy, where i see connection to www.none.com:80 |

Right, I've done some deeper digging, and there is indeed a problem with the network module we are using and proxy-tunneled HTTPS connections. Oops. Looking into this, but this might take a moment to get fixed... Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |
