November and December are generally busy months for the CCP staff. Last year, we have had to shift gears from coding an expansion, to the Fanfest, then back to coding. Well, this year we thought this wasn't enough to do at the end of the year, so we decided to move to a new office. And hire new staff. Oh, and even investigate new hardware. Did I mention code a new expansion?
Oveur's written up a new Dev Blog. In it, he goes into further detail about the move, the new positions open at CCP, our search for better technology and backbone, and even hits some high points on Red Moon Rising.
His Blog is also the formal announcement of the Red Moon Rising Features page. The EVE Online Features page also has a new and updated look. More improvements will be made to all the Feature pages over the coming days. The Red Moon Rising patch notes will be posted late next week.
Enjoy!

Edited by: Joshua Foiritain on 02/12/2005 18:33:57 Hmm we need more info about the corp logo upgrades
Will the Wallet export function be returning in a fixed state with Kali btw?
Edit: Which reminds me, now that POSes are allowed in high sec we really need dreads there too. I might be crazy but last time i chcked they where siege weapons, so what use are they when people can create shielded & armed safespots in empire where dreads cant reach em? ------------------

Well... shooting the POS would atleast cost em a little bit of money, plus it would be a good reason to allow Capital ships into empire ------------------

t2 ships part of the feature list is wrong
Quote: Command ships are elite battlecruisers that are also feature two variants. One is a damage-dealing bruiser, with lower resistances. The other is intended for gang-support and equipped with higher resistances. Both of these types are designed to fill combat roles.
Fleet Command Ships are elite logistics platforms that can use up to three gang modules simultaneously, eliminating the need for a command module. They have considerable resistances and defensive bonuses, but negligible damage output. All offensive capabilities for these ships place an emphasis on range, not damage.
this suggests that there will be 2 command ships, and then the fleet command will be seperate. not the case i believe

No, both are 'Command Ships', but I agree, this can be made less confusing so it doesn't imply 3 ships like you read from it.

I have some concerns regarding the combined effects of the combat revisions (specifically the hp increase and the new resistance skills) and the introduction of so many T2/high level ships.
In my opinion, the newer players are getting a bit shafted in that their ability to compete with vetern players is getting nerfed significatly while the necessity for specialization has increased enormously. This has the combined effect of requiring new players to specialize in a very narrow field, making their gameplay restrictive and unforgiving for experimentation and exploration of EVE's other content, while increasing the performance gap between the noobs and veterns.
It has always been promoted by the community that EVE is unlike WOW where a lvl 60 charater is a demi-god relative to the lower lvl charaters (lvl 0-50). I just don't see this being the case anymore. There are just too many "basic key" skills to learn and too many advanced equipment that requires too many advanced skills. The high end content which currently takes 4-6 months of skill training time to reach, now feels like it is increasing to 8-10 months when Red Moon Rising is released. I don't have the heart to tell a noob to be patient for 3/4 of a year so that they can be reasonably competitive with the majority of the EVE community.

When you kill an NPC its can becomes marked as yours, anyone who takes stuff from it is free game. Tractor beams cant scoop in other peoples NPC cans.
Originally by: Lily Savage How are the new ships being introduced? BPO lottery, NPC produced, or what?
T2 ships trough the lottery, everything else trough the market just like dreads and freighters.

You dont need a dread/titan/mothership to compete, hell a dread isnt even possible of competing with a bs pilot. 20x 5 month old players in bs (+/-2.2 bill isk) > 1 titan (+/'- 50 bill isk + insurance, equipment and cargo) In wow however it would be Titan > Any number of non-capital ships simply because the titan would parry and dodge any attacks ------------------
