Actually, I see this as a Mittani frak up. You are suppose to notify CCP of large fleet engagements. It's their fault for not following CCP rules.
I guess he could not be bothered to write a notification he was probably too busy drinking his pod fluid. |

You know, I really do feel sad for all the parties involved in this. Goon Alliance, Test Alliance, and CCP. Nobody can fix what happened - it happened. With that said, the real question is, what can be done in the future to stop it from happening again? Pointing fingers and getting all nasty is not going to help anyone.
Maybe CCP needs to figure out some new rules regarding the handling of nodes when it looks like a major battle is about to happen(the players can't always predict when a major battle is going to happen - that is the greatness of a sandbox game) and when one does erupt - maybe it should be a policy of hands off. Let things play out.
Another thing that CCP should do is place a warning to people entering a node where this type of huge confrontation is taking place. Warn them that overloading the node might have dire consequences. CCP keeps their hands off it and if the players overload the system and the node comes crashing down - then they have only themselves to blame. CCP has spent tons of cash to make it possible for thousands of people to fight one another. New hardware, new software, and they have pushed this tech to its limit. Maybe the players need to back off on overwhelming the system.
Again, it is sad that such a battle was brought crashing down - a battle that very well could have made a difference in power struggle between two great adversaries - but now is a time for cool heads. Let us hope that something good can come of this and all involved can learn something. :)

Honestly, I heard this battle happened over a freighter kill. 
This makes me wonder if a software program can be written to shift node resources much like the engineer was trying to do automatically based on a pre-determined player count. |

Certainly, but it's hard to get any provably good benefit and edge cases could result in some unfortunate mishaps.

I am no goon fan, but having read his post I don't see it as whining. He had a legitimate concern and he voiced it in a reasonable manner. Hardly whining. But, these things happen, polish those ships and get ready for the next engagement. |

It would be fine if he wrote it BEFORE CCP publicly apologized and admitted their mistake, for a corporation to admit fault is honorable. For this little punk to just go and tell them how to do their job is laughable. DO you really think that post was anything but a self serving piece of junk???
I think CCP handled it very well and I'm sure they are working harder then The Mittani at keeping the game operational. All he does is add noise without contributing anything meaningful to the conversation. It's like that kid that points a finger and laughs at his parents for tripping on their sand castle. |

It was a good article but a missed opportunity. I am glad to see that they know it was a mistake and not a conspiracy.
However, It was a huge missed opportunity to say how screwed up it is to call for someones real life job over a video game. And again I call upon all the leaders of the CFC to step up and say the right thing. |

TEST dodged a bullet pure and simple, TEST and even PL, admit to that. PL, and N3 are breathing a sigh of relief that they didn't have to slog back in there to pull TESTs fat out of the fire yet again because TEST was being well TEST, but also a little miffed about the fight suddenly being CCPed.
You've got to remember that these are just simple miners. These are people of the land. The common clay of New Eden. You know... morons. |
