Hi, I was wondering what people would suggest as the best pair of ships to run level 4's, also what layouts would be best for them?

Either 2 apocs
Apoc and Raven
or HAC and Logistic

I would think it would depend on what enemies are mostly encountered. Raven would be a safe bet for 1 person though.

dom and apoc.
dom tanks - drones for frigs. apoc kills cruisers and bs's.
for drone missions, get the dom to tank, then the other pilot uses a hac with a full damage setup to kill the drone npcs, then switches back to apoc for the bs npc drones.

Navy megathron set up for tank + 350mm tech2 + t2 large drones.
Nightmare with 4 x t2 cruise and 4 t2 tachyons, set up for damage with 3 t2 ballistics and 2 t2 heatsinks, midslots have tracking and sensorbosters.
Goes trough lvl 4s like a hot knife trough butter.

All out tanking Apoc with w/e drones or weapons that fit
Raven
high: 6 named seige (tech2 if it fits) + 2 w/e that fits
mid: 6 targte painter T2
low: 5 BCU T2
with 6 painter on anything smaller than a bs you can insta pop it with your torpedos, if you have good missile skills you can launch a wave of torpedos every 7-10 seconds.
and while you are shooting them, have the tanking apoc fly around collect the loot, hes just sitting there eating damage anyway.
If its non-deadspace just warp in as far as you can from the battle. If any rat switch target just kill them before they can get to you. (if they do you have no tank so better warp out)

I use an apoc to tank and a t2megat to gank.
My apoc has the following setup
6 megabeamII
2 med pulse II
100mn AB
2 CRII
web
3x hardner (2 are t2)
1 plate
1 CPR
1 large rep
1 med rep
Megat has
7 t2 425mm
100mn AB
Cap recharger
t2 tracking comp
Sensor booster
4x magstab
1 tracking enhancer
1 med repper
1 CPR
Stuff dies so fast I rarely have to use my large repper on the tanking ship.

I've found that a Raven set for tanking and a Cerberus or Eagle is lethal in missions.

This works well for me and a buddy of mine.
Me in a Meg
7x 250mm rails I use t2 with antimatter
1x cruise launcher
1x ab
1x cap booster with 800's
2x webbers
1x LAR
3x active hardeners sometimes rat specific
3x mag stabs
He uses Raven (not sure of his setup but its something like this.)
6x Siege T2 launchers
2x hybrids not sure which
Not sure what he tanks, but he takes the heat most of the time. Prob something like
1x X-large t2 shield booster
3x active hardeners
maybe a shield amp and something else
4x pdu T2
1x ballistic cont T2
The idea is he aggroes bs's from 100km and takes out the big stuff when the tacklers get close I take them out with my guns. We have used this loads of times and it is very effective. |

I tank in my raven, (6 cruise, 2 e500 heavy nos, 4 t2 hardeners, xl t2 booster, shield booster amp, lows 5 pdu2's.)
my mate ganks in an apoc (t2 tachs, sensor booster, heatsink 2's, and an ab)
we can do all gurista and angel missions.

im using two domis - both fitted to remote armor tank each other in case of target switching. Not that fast in terms of time, but very comfy :)
I find that adding the third person to the group GREATLY speeds up the missions. The third person has a pure gankasetup and just wastes everything in sight. Ive happily aggroed an entire level of angel extravaganza knowing they will all die before they break the tank.

Bear in mind I don't fly amarr before reading further 
I like Typhoon for a tankship myself, the highest speed / lowest sig radius can be nice, its got the best racial armour boost in +10 EM, 7 lows for a decent armour tank, second biggest dronebay after the domi, fastest lock time for those pesky frigs.
Something like :
Highs : Up to you really, but assault/heavy launchers with 280/720 artillery gives modest short/mid range firepower that can hit small/medium targets fine.
Mids : 100mn AB II, 3x best cap rechargers you can get/afford.
Lows : 2x large armour repairer II, 3-4 racial hardeners (or three and an energized adaptive nano for things that deal all), 1-2 cap relays.
Plus 9-10 heavy drones and 4-5 spares in the bay.
Runs the first repper indefinetely, the second in long/very long bursts (depending on 1/2 cap relays)
For support to it I like megathron :
Highs : 7x 425 rails (best you can get, not tried fitting TII as of yet)
Mids : 100mn AB, sensor booster II, 2x tracking computer
lows : 6x magnetic field stabs, 1x co-processor II
Sit about 50-60k behind the tank with oh thorium? ammo or there about and let rip, annihalates cruisers/battleships in an impressive display of fireworks.
RMR will change it all a lot of course.

I'm doing very well with a friend.
He uses a Raven and tanks, i use a Tempest and kill.
I dont know his setup although it was recently upgraded to Tech II hardeners.
I use a sniper.All 1400's,tracking and sensor boosters in med, and damage in low.

I've tryed many combos and i like this one the best :)
The cerbs range lets it hit anything the raven can, and also hurting frigs much more.
Raven tank + cruise + Nos
cerb gank + 3 TP IIs + web :)

Many choices avaibale.
My best duo is actually:
RAVEN & CERBERUS.
Raven is fully cruise/torp damage plus Large shield trasfer.
Carberus is 5 Haevy T2 and tanking.
U can cover with good damage all targets (Cerberus easy blow from drones till cruisers while Raven took off cruiser & BS).
Make Cerberus tanking will solve most problem about the heaviest damage BS do (A jugger Torp actually hit my Cerb for 29 damage) and plus, a single charge from the shiled transf grats me about 1/5 of my total shield.
More, only the Raven is equipped with warp core, just in case.
BTW if something goes wrong, we have enough time to wipe out all scrablers while tanking, then leave.
The wcs on Raven is just in case we aggro 2 grups of npc.

or a phoon and a apoc
dom's nice to but what ever you pick best to have a nice cheap tank so dom or phoon would be best .
as long as you have a good ganker tempest mack apoc mega any thing that hits hard .
but its the way you do the missions as well.Start using tagging, and i aways find using ts helps as well.

You want a tank and a damage dealer.
Apoc=Best sustainable tank in game, fit with small guns to blow up frigs.
Geddon=Highest DPS in game, fit with big guns and dmg mods to blow everything else up.
Mega has mad DPS with blasters too, but since it'll have to get very close to use them, it may pull targets from the Apoc.
As far as I know, Raven takes over as fastest and most sustainable tank in game after RMR.

hmmm,
Now, i have maxed skills on my cerebus and find that when dealign with some frigs it can take a good while to kill them hitting at 20-40 per hit.... Then someone mentioned target painters and i must try this.My tank on my cerebus is so good i don't have to worry it takes forever... but i can down a bs faster than i can some of the frigs they throw at uyou.. again i have over 7.5 mil in missle skills alone... so just wondering what the difference is(maybe the TP II?)
So for this reason i like the eagle a bit more... However i will have to try the target painters post haste.

Yeah, Tank + Gank seems to be the most efficient setup. However things may turn nasty if you're a very unlucky person. Like once my gank apoc warped into a structure and was bumped into a second group of rats, I was lucky to warp out with half armor and my friend in a raven tank barely made out with half structure.
Also with 2 tracking computer my megabeams seem to hit frigates/drones at wrecking damage, not too close of course.

a M8 of mine and I run them with him in an Apoc, tanking, and myself in a Zealot.
I can take out frigates and cruisers quick, and he just soaks up damage and goes to work on cruisers and BS's.
Works Beautifully!
