The stinger missile I found in the beta works fairly well actually. (unlike the sam turrets in BF2. ) Yeah planes have flare unlock, but you can reload the stinger before their flare timer reloads assuming their still buzzing you.

Please be trolling, the thought of that hardware struggling isn't to encouraging tbh, I'm running a i7 920 @ 3.6, 6GB ddr 3 ram, and a 570, I thought I might have a chance to get some decent frame rates..... I ran the beta with a couple of 275's sli'd and it was ok but I heard the beta was locked into medium settings.

What res? How many screens? ...That's pretty poor performance from a $5-6K system - the PS3 is probably out-performing your frame rate. FPS to me is all about the frag, couldn't care too much about graphics - the only area of the screen I care about is the 5 pixels in the center of the screen, the rest of it could be in vector graphics to be honest. headshot, headshot, bunnyhop, bunnyhop, frag, frag, kapow, kerblammo, headshot, headshot, etc etc etc GÇ£You go into combat, and itGÇÖs NOT going to be WagnerGÇªindustrial techno or really hard drum and bassGÇ¥ Reynir Hardarson, founding member of CCP Games, 2002.

Sucks for you man BF3 is best MP for a shooter i've played since BC2 or TF2. IMO TF2 better than BC2. So that's 3 years since the last real good MP shooter has come out. On top of that to be good at BF3 you need to be quick on your toes as only a couple of bullets will drop you. So they didnt dumb it down. I suppose I should like a dumb fanboy... Maybe I am, but it's a seriously good and fun game that gives you tons and of options or gameplay modes.

I did back off to the high settings and now got back up into the usual 60+ FPS range, so i think i can combine high quality settings with some still set on ultra, just not everything for smooth gameplay across 3 screens, even with 3 cards...

Also, the amount of textures that are going through the game engine are bigger than the video card memory to handle. Therefor the cards stream the textures from the hard drive. Try installing the game to your ssd if it isnt already. Also, BF3 does not like anything above 4x AA if I remember correctly. So try turning that down. It could be related to the regular 1.5 GB GTX580's and the game exceeding the amount of memory on board, and yes, the game is already installed on the SSD's in raid, so it could be much worse for those still using a regular hard drive. As for the SR3,i already saw a picture of the board, but to be worth it for me since i'm already running a pair of 6 core gulftown CPU's on an SR-2 at 4ghz, i'd want the ivy bridge versions wich will be available with 8 cores on each processor Here's a pic of the beast: http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/8690/evgasr2.jpg <---The SR-3

All the footage of BF3 I've seen looks really good though. I wish I could run it atm. By the time I get around to it, the multiplayer will be dead.

You'd be surprised how many people are still running XP. But yeah I'm looking at another 2 years I think. Economy sux, took a huge paycut (that's supposed to be temporary, but we know how that goes) and I've got too much debt due to that to be able to justify spending the money on a new system. I am however going to pick up MW3 just for the single player campaign and because it will run under XP lol. I don't think it will be as good as what I've seen of BF3 so far though.
