Edited by: Darth Revanant on 05/12/2005 21:31:36 Did you know you can activate your weapons/offensive modules without a target lock, then click a target, and the system will lock the target and fire the activated mods for you? I learned this way after I started playing. On a stargate. _______________

yee haw! i knew these forums would be useful one day!! now we just need a simple click or right click option to transfer all can contents to the cargo hold at once.
since this has turned into a tips thread, is there a way to cancel when you are locking on something you started locking onto by mistake?

don't think I've read any of the tutorials since the spring of 2004. perhaps I need to make a new alt just to read the tutorials completely... :)

You can restart the tutorial from either the help menu (F12) or the options menu (ESC) under reset settings. |

Double Click also works to dock at a station!!! And you can set destination anywhere if you press F11 and explore up to that system ________________

lol. When did this come in? /emote admits to being another near 2 year veteran who didn't know this....
I believe it came in Exodus. Had to learn it in the first few days of testing when there was no 'open' option for cargo containers.

Having trouble with stations that seem to take up the whole screen? No matter where you click, you get a stargate? Well help is on hand.
Right click the little triangle next to the system name in the top left corner and see all your potential destinations in their full glory! __

Wow and I thought I was cool for figuring out that holding down CTRL and ALT brings up the zoom and multilock interface.
(It zooms a small segment of the screen to 2x and then locks anything in the zoom panel when clicked... marginally usefull for picking out ships in a modest sized fleet fight... when say your looking for BLackbirds only)
*snip* That's not very appropriate. - Teblin |

Gets better than this. Activate all your guns, and then lock your own ship (ctrl-lock). Your guns will then be "cycling", and the next time you get a lock they will automatically fire. You can, however, quite happily click on stargates, navigate, etc in the meantime.

I found this out recently and it rocks for gate camps. Just make sure your overview only shows enemies and use ctrl+click on overview.
Also its funneh when a mate tests their locking speed/damage without giving enough notice.
I've got an idea--an idea so smart that my head would explode if I even began to know what I'm talking about

Some good tips in here, never knew the can/cargo thing, the tutorial has been a while ago, don't think it had it back then. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

I prefer using "the selected item" box for opening containers myself :) .. That box is extremely helpful in general as well imo, as you can do your "own" ranges for orbit, "keep at", and "warp to at" by right clicking.
Oh, and overview presets are nice as well. IE. you could have a preset for mining showing only roids and cans, or a preset for fleet battles where are all you see is enemy (and neutral) bs and hacs.

Control+A then drag and drop, much easier

Here's one I saw posted in a thread in the For Sale forum.
Go to Escrow, go to create a new escrow, select the station, select all the items in the station, click to create the escrow and you get the confirmation message box. You can select the text in the confirmation message box, copy it and paste it into another program, the SAY NO to the escrow. Voila, you have a complete list of everything in your hangar pasted into another program for sorting etc.
