I think this is the first 'dying' thread that might have something to it. As a PC player i have to say the articles i have read hint to a not so bright future. A quick fix could be letting PC players into it. I am even pretty sure that it will happen a few months before they pull the plug on it. |

We all know this, but CCP keeps on hiring cheap marketing gimmicks and VPs from the worst company ever! To try and save a failing game!
Anyone else waiting for Destiny? I'm currently taking bets on the following: - CCP Games becomes EA Games' property. - EVE Online will have Microtranctions everywhere. |

http://eve-offline.net/?server=dust we don't even have 5 000 players online and yet people complain about bad matchmaking. no doubt the match making is bad there is barely enough people to be able to join games that don't lag too much. |

Apparently being content to releasing a mediocre incomplete product isn't a great way to attracting masses of casual players in a heavily competitive gaming genre. Who knew. |

Dust is dying slowly since it's official "Release" which has gone rather quiet and unnnoticed. There was hardly any advertisement for it on the playstation network, which does not matter much, as the product itself is far from being complete. Now I know that EVE itself had a rough start as well, but hardly any competition. Dust however has to be ready to be compared to some high quality, high budget shooters, and as much as I enjoy taking my dust bunny for a walk, the gameplay has some serious issues (Lag, horrible controlls, aiming issues, rather messed up KB/M Input, Balance issues), lots of stuff is still missing ( like racial weapons/vehicles) and if I wouldn't have a connection to the EVE Universe I would have dismissed it long ago. It is the promises and the hope for better times, that keeps most of the remaining Player base playing I guess.

If only they had forums for DUST to talk about it's imminent demise on... as if thats a thing... no doubt the forums are dead already! Nope. Dust GD is livelier than EVE's - in fact it'll probably break the 30k mark tonight or early tomorrow morning.
And Dust on the PC is bad idea and you should feel bad for thinking otherwise - not as bad an idea as launching Dust with the almost unplayable Uprising 1.0 (which basically drove away everyone who tried it) instead of the actually pretty damn good 1.2 (seriously, what a difference a couple of months can make) - but still a bad idea. Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
Sometimes when I post, I look at my sig and wish that I'd follow my own god damned advice. |

Considering the amount of money they syphoned off of EvE to create that PS3 trainwreck, I think this is the appropriate forum...

Stated as if it's somehow not standard practice for companies to use profits from one project to fund others.
Hint: This is why game companies exist.

No.
If Sony wants an exclusive game release, they will pay for it's development. In turn, CCP gets the money to write an engine. And in gaming, especially, they always budget game development to fund OTHER projects (in this case PC). Nothing gets done unless it's funded first. So this is how CCP could get direct funding, but the conditions are it's a 1 year exclusive offering for PS3.
CCP will ride it out, and go from there.
But patience is a virtue, and it's clear now that a diet of 8hr weekend games, make very impatient gamers. "In a world of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act." ~George Orwell

If it went PC, it would be plagued by aimbots and ESP and all sorts of other hax that plague all the other PC FPS games.
If you dont think they exist, you are dead wrong.
Console games are not cheat free, but it is a whole lot more complicated.
Imagine if one side was all using aimbots? That could effect the in game EVE stuff...

And yet there are absolutely tons of successful FPS games on pc which have this problem. It's all very well to be glad that console games lack this but who cares if nobody's playing the game? |

******* hell buddy, you're playing Eve and you're bothered by stuff like that?
Eve has had more "hax" than you've had hot dinners and I dunno whether its escaped your attention but there's been tens of thousands of "bots" in Eve over the years. Possibly hundreds of thousands.
This is Eve. Everyone assumes everyone else is cheating. Sometimes they're right |

My thought when I bought the Collector's Edition was, "will Dust even be around to collect these shinies?"
This thread has so much content it may be 'Thread of the Year' and it is only January.
