I only have about 4 mill SP and won't be able to fly an AF for another couple weeks, but until I can fly HACs I wanna do my level 3s as fast as possible.
Currently I have been doing them in a prophecy, and i can get them done, but some take a while.
So which is faster at doing level 3 missions? a Prophecy or a Retribution? -------------------------------------------------- - Jamie (Aka) Spartan III Hardener Stacking Penalty Explained |

Prophecy is the way to go if you are looking for speed. You should never have to warp out and your dps is higher.

I have a lot more fun doing missions in my assault frigate, but if you're just looking to do missions quickly then Battlecruisers are much faster for getting the missions out of the way.

Go with the retribution, takes a hell of a longer time to train for it but is extremely more usefull.
Ferox: 2 hours AE Retri: 1 hour 30 minutes
Note: Not getting loot.

You never have to warp out with a Retri either, and it's faster. Your tradeoff is basically Firepower&Cargo:Proph/Speed&Fun:Retri. I guess the Retri is probably a better anti-frig platform too

I use my enyo for all lvl 3's
only exception being i use a geddon to nip into the second room of black market hub to pop the sentry guns, and also for the extra room on angel extravaganza.
but for me the bc/af choice was enyo vs. brutix, and tbh i find using the enyo more fun and a bit easier.

I find the Hawk/Harpy better than the Ferox for mission running. Both of these ships blast through the L2 and L3 missions that drop the best candy and the Harpy in particular can even handle some L4 missions. The Ferox can't do L4 at all.

I've done lvl 3's for Brutor tribe in prophecy and retribution. Prophecy was faster on the killing but looting took forever.

But If i take a retribution then I won't have the space for loot anyway.
So for fastest mission completion I use a Prophecy and don't pickup loot? -------------------------------------------------- - Jamie (Aka) Spartan III Hardener Stacking Penalty Explained |

If you have proper skills and know what you're doing, you never have to warp out of a lvl3 mission when flying an AF.

Edited by: Arleonenis on 09/12/2005 16:49:02 you are looting in prophecy?
sorry but its a bad idea, after cleaning a deadspace area or kill mission you create bookmark on can than you return to agent and finish mission
Next you take industrial with all lows fitted with nanofiber and 10mn tech2 afterburner...
in my mammoth i fly over 700m/s, its more agile than a cruiser and i have enough cargo hold to easily clear lvl4 mission from loot
than when you done with cans delete bm and return to station do drop your cargo take another mission
Its fastest way to do and you collect all cans so be sure you are in station with reprocesing facility

not toom much loot in level 3s, and its usually all close together so as long as I take a tractor beam with me than I should be fine. -------------------------------------------------- - Jamie (Aka) Spartan III Hardener Stacking Penalty Explained |

Ya most of the loot in lvl 3s is crap its only worth picking up if you can do it while killing stuff.
Its a shame too since lvl 2s drop some nice stuff.

Few things..
1. Just put one of those, soon to be introduced tractor, beams in one of your prophecy's hi-slot and looting is not a problem.
2. 95% of every level 3 mission should involve you warping in, with a prophecy, and shooting every spawn at least once. Just head to the closest spawn and kill it. By the time you kill it the next group should be very close so engage and kill it.. ect, ect. By doing this you totaly negate the increased ship speed of an AF over a BC in regards to getting to the NPCs faster.
3. No AF can outdmg a properly set-up prophecy. If you need a hint as to what a good level 3 setup is then eve-mail me.

If you can tank it properly (which I can't currently, because I haven't really bothered with BC skills), you set up for short range, it's only a max of one DS pocket and no targets spawn out of lock range then yes.

My setup works fine, but you can check to see if there are any errors in it.
5x Heavy Anode Particle Stream I(radio, standard, multifreq) 1x Arbalest Rocket Launcher(defenders and foxfire rockets)
1x 'langour' drive disruptor I 1x y-s8 hydrocarbon I afterburner 1x Cap Recharger I
1x Medium Armor Repairer II 2x Active Hardeners(TL1 and NPC specific) 1x PDU I 2x CPR I
Anything I should change? I have 160mill right now and another 60mill coming in a day or 2 so i can buy stuff if need be. Only thing i am saving for is a Zealot ATM. -------------------------------------------------- - Jamie (Aka) Spartan III Hardener Stacking Penalty Explained |

Firstly you are leaving a high slot empty, so need to work on filling that with something useful.
This is a no fail high slot setup for level 3 missions-
4 x heavy pulse (I use modal) 1 x medium pulse <-- this is important in not only allowing you to drop the PDU but in also letting you take care of the NPC tacklers fast. Sometimes drones simply will not kill them fast enough. 2 x nos II <-- 2 nos II units will allow you open up a lot more of your other slots as power will no longer be so much an issue. These will also allow you to give a nasty surprise to an PC pirate in a frigate. These have saved me quite a number of times from PvP encounters I was forced into.
Now we move onto the mediums-
1 x web (a must) 1 x AB II <-- it is important that you train up to use a tech II. With using pulse you want to get close to your targets as fast as possible. 1 x cap recharger II <-- upgrade, it will cost you 13 mil but it is well worth it
Low slots
1 x medium armor II 3 hardners (active or passive) 1 x heat sink II last slot open <-- This slot is up to you to pick something for. If I know I need lots of DPS I toss another heatsink II on. Need more tanking power? Toss another hardener on. Personally I use a good nanofiber as I know nothing will break my tank so I decided to use something to help with the agility problems that a BC has.
P.S on an ending not train to be abile to use 5 medium drones asap if you haven't. They are very helpful!
Hope this helps.

Sorry that wasn't my setup. I forgot that I recently trained Engineering level 5 and this is my correct setup.(BTW I can't stand using pulses on my Prophecy.)
5x Heavy Anode Particle Stream I(radio, standard, multifreq) 1x Arbalest Rocket Launcher(defenders and foxfire rockets) 1x Small Nos(once i get advanced weapon upgrades I will get a 6th beam)
1x 'langour' drive disruptor I(ganna upgrade to fleeting webber soon) 1x 10mn Afterburner II 1x Cap Recharger II
1x Medium Armor Repairer II 2x Active Hardeners(TL1 and NPC specific) 3x CPR I(with this i have all the cap i need and can run guns+repper+ab+webber for a VERY long time.
Any comments on my newer setup? I am going for speed in level 3 missions remember, and loot won't be a factor. -------------------------------------------------- - Jamie (Aka) Spartan III Hardener Stacking Penalty Explained |

I have recently just moved up from lvl 2 to lvl 3. I bought a Prophecy, but all my skills are for frigs. I can use tech II med reps but not tech II med lasers. I tried one of the harder lvl 3s (cant remember the name of the mission) in my Prophecy and got pwned. i lost standing and had to do more lvl 2 to get back to the 3s.
Now iv started in my Ret on the easier lvl 3 like damsel in distress, which i can do with out losing my tank. Are the harder lvl 3's doable in the Ret?? Iv got -High- 4 Med pulse II (multi, Micro) -Mid- Monopropelent AB (thinking about changing to tracking Comp when i get Gunnery 5 in 17hrs) -Lows- 2 CPR 1 Active hardener 1 Passive hardener 1 Small rep II
Also can u decline the missions as many times as you want or is there a limit before losing standing??

If you read the posts above it says that all are soloable, but some are faster in prophecy(mixed opinion about that actually)
Originally by: Theonenoonenos Also can u decline the missions as many times as you want or is there a limit before losing standing??
I was told you can turn down a mission once every 4 hours, but I could be wrong and you might be able to turn as many as you want, but you CANNOT turn down a mission that you have already accepted or you will ALWAYSE lose standing. -------------------------------------------------- - Jamie (Aka) Spartan III Hardener Stacking Penalty Explained |
