Having the exact same problem, was playing when i lost connection to the server and now i get that error message.

I just starting getting it also. I rebooted, checked my wireless connections and everything on this end is fine. Funny thing is my brother is still connected and playing on his laptop here in the same room.

Me too, I have 3 PCs sharing the network, one can log in fine, both the others get the "connection to server closed" message.
Tried closing client on the one that worked, to see if CCP had changed something so only one client can connect at once from an IP... no change, still cannot log on using my PC, and now none of the PC's can log on... "the connection to the server was closed"
oh joy :(

I was changing my subscription details then I git the message as I tried to get back into game...Thought I deleted my account or something...then I thght it didn't make sense that I'd delete it like that... then I realised I'm actualy working as an IT....then I felt dumb and thought I'd probably see this thread if I came here...

Logged off after playing ok for a few hours to use an alt to check the market in some other system, then get the familiar message that there has been a snafu, the dev team dont really have a clue what is going on, but rest assured they will look into it soon :(
Edit: Just closed the client, entered password and clicked connect, ie ignored the error message and am now back in the game directly, ie without getting the character selection screen |

For those still having the error, it is most probaly due to port 26000 being blocked by Windows/Norton Firewall.
Access both accordingly and remove 26000 from the filter list.
As for Windows, just uncheck the Firewall option.
