Nifty? The effect is horribly, they should have made the hull of the ship glow or something. Random clouds dont fix armor ------------------

afaik, the cloud is a bunch of nanites swarming the ship to quickly patch up the armour.

Ha! I wasa asking multiple times for that effect on sisi! Great, thanks:) BTW, this also concerns the armour hardeners...
And as far as nanites go, if there is so many of them, why not visible? vide Deus Ex 2 intro/trailer :)

The despicable Minmatar vermin have yet again forgotten to polish one of our foremost ships!
It needs to be more shiny... and have a new model.

Back a long time ago, they actually had an armor repair effect (on Tranquility). It made your entire hull glossy. Caused so much graphics lag they had to remove it. ---

It looked awsome tho, maybe even worth the lag.
Maybe with all the lag reduceing changes goin on there be room for it at some point.....
IIRC it also caused other nasties as well as lag

I dont mind the new effects. It certainly seems to have sorted out the lag in larger fights from what ive seen. The new NOS effect is pretty sweet too

The smallest classified plankton above the class of a virus (have you seen one lately?) are pikoplankton bacteria, which at a minimum 2 x 10e-7m are still a lot "bigger" than a nanometer (10e-9m). Try seeing a cloud of viruses emananting from you nose next time you have the flu and have to sneeze. No, those are humongous droplets of snot
Moot point. We like lag-inducing clouds of green "stuff". It's wonderfully tacky, 1950s-ebil sci-fi. |

Enough viruses would be visible. Just like enough nanites and enough molecules would eb visible. You just need trillions of them.

one bacteria, difficult to see as it is microscopic.
culture them, and they are so overly adundant as to make them easily visible with the naked eye.
quantity of them overcomes their small size.

I believe it's to do with it being smaller than the wavelength of visible light.
Also, nanites tend not to be single-digit nanometers long. If memory serves a nanometer is something like 4 hydrogen atoms end to end. Ten nanometers is forty atoms. There's not a whole lot of repairing you can do with something even 40*40*40 atoms

Like the old effect? You know, the one that cause horrendous lag? and the one that crashed nodes if used in a fleet battle?
Ya ya! lets put back in the old effect, doubling the polygon count of every ship that uses it for every armor rep they use! Thats the ticket! _______________________________________________
