Originally by: Kateryne Erg, i am starting to get really narked off by all you guys going on about how CCP has no real reason to not allow bloodline switches... well i have several points in their defence. 1)How could you justify this sudden change in your characters appearance and performance from an in game perspective? 2)How would changing your base stats work? What about the time you spent so far training skills that (using your new skills) would have taken a lot longer or less time to train. It's will give some character changes a major advantage, and others none... 3)You say that some characters would be justified in changing and others not so justified... well surely that is giving some of the player base an advantage, and CCP doesn't do that. 4)Cost wise... would people have to pay for this service change, and if so how much, because it would surely have to be considerably more than just a portrait change? 5) Finally, here are some quotes from the portrait transfer service's FAQ that could be applied to this discussion....
Quote: Your character portrait is a big part of your identity in EVE the change of any part of that identity needs to be limited. CCP understands that late on in the game you might start to regret the original choices you made with regards to your character portrait. This is why the portrait swapping is supported and the surest way of preventing identity hopping is to have real monetary transactions behind each portrait swap.
Quote: As bloodline and gender define a lot about your character the portraits that are going to be swapped need to have same bloodline and gender. The swapping is only meant to fix elements you are not happy about with your original portrait creation, it is not meant for gender and ancestry changes.
1. They already allow switch for $10, so apparently the portrait is not THAT important otherwise they'd flat disallow it.
2. Don't change the base stats. Make the swap a portrait and name-only swap. Give it the bloodline description, and the portrait swap. Allow nothing else.
3. Everyone who wants to do it should be able to do it. However, make it a one time thing and only apply to the Asian races so that people who REALLY want to do it can do it, and people who are just doing it on a whim may think otherwise.
4. I don't see why it has to cost more than a portrait change. Deep down, that's all it is.
