What was the thought behind Antimatter Bullets?
Shouldn't they leave a huge explosion - a 10000 times Hiroshima explosion? I am just asking because i find the animation of the hybrid turrets a little bit booring for what they are. X-Large is firing bullets as huge as small car's at probably 30000m/s, this would end up in an explosion that probably annihilates a small planet. On the other hand Lasers are visible - which they are not.
Yes lasers are cool - so as freaking antimatter bullets the size of a car traveling at 10% of the speed of light. And those you cant even see. Care to elaborate? |

I've thought the same way, hybrid charges to be a brighter green to stand out and projectiles need visible tracers |

Of course you would have to use some magnetic field, to prevent Antimatter from getting into contact with matter. Well it's only a fu..... game - but i DEMAND BIG EXPLOSIONS! XD |

Ok. Lets have some fun with this question and suggest it's not our dimension? Completely different universal constants perhaps? How else to explain some of Eve's 'it's just a game' weird physics? |

Well... considering the missiles ARE nukes in the multikiloton range (prolly even megaton range on capital missiles) is it so far fetched to have ammo with anti-matter?
The lore never actually tells us just how much AM there is in a projectile... it could be that the biggest capital rounds have just a tiny fleck in the middle, rest being the containment etc.

Exactly how much antimatter does the charge contain? I've always assumed that with the containment field and armored outer shell there's not really all that much AM in there. Keeps the production costs down when you add just enough to not make it an unstable bomb waiting in your cargobay to rip YOUR ship apart at the slightest bump. Who cares? The mere fact that we have Lead hybrid rounds implies that anti-matter isn't the Alpha and Omega of Making Explosions.
Seriously, this is the only reason:

So?
Doesn't mean we can't have more huge explosions.
It would really help with me getting my friends to play the game if I could show them huge booms all the time. |

This. TL;DR, most of the charge assembly is the containment and delivery system. There's actually very little antimatter in there.

Plug that car's worth of matter into e=mc2 and then duck and cover.

yes and no.
It annihilates the matter. Converting both to a substantial quantity of energy.
1 gram would create an explosion of approximately 42 kilotons.
Of course, the biggest problem you'd have is actually using all of that antimatter. what with the reaction tending to blow it away from the matter. Steve Ronuken for CSM 9!-á I'm starting early :) Handy tools and an SDE conversion Twitter: @fuzzysteve on Twitter |

so theoretically a car-sized block of antimatter could take out much mroe than just a car-sized block fo matter, the car-sized matter would only be whats obliterated into energy, everything would be destroyed through secondary effects. |

Well, since it's called Anti-matter, but doesn't seem to behave like Anti-matter should, shouldn't it be renamed to Doesn't-Matter?
But seriously, if you or anyone wants to argue about physics in EvE, there are PLENTY of bones to pick at.
# Like how the most viable lasers are the ones that are invisible to the naked eye, yet we have a veritable rainbow of lasers to pew-pew people with.
# Or how a simple sweep of the sky from currently available thermal imaging devices on Earth, can detect any spaceship in our solar system with a roughly 6-hour delay.
# Or how EvE space seems to be fluidic.
# Or how bacon is non-existant in New Eden.
# Or that the planets NEVER MOVE.
# Or that the sun in every system is 20 times brigher than it should be. |

Nope normal space. Its just the warp drive on a ship that causes friction which in turn causes the slowdown as your engines have to work against that friction. |

Always thought that were because of the extreme amount of Energy. I mean, it does the same level of damage as Nuclear-Missiles and such. |

We can see the lasers because of camera drones. Or does someone command a huge spaceships by watching out of a window?
