What bugs me more is that Lead and Nuclear are in the same damage category for projectile ammo.
So throwing is piece of lead at an enemy ship does the same damage as an atomic bomb? 
Just think of how bad an average post by me is, and then realize half of them are even worse |

Black holes have an infinite gravitational field. They are not infinitely dense, nor infinitely massive.
In other words, figure out how massive your black holes will be, and plug them into E=Mc^2
To figure out the mass, you can use this formula (r is the Schwarzschild Radius, or Event Horizon):
r=2MG/c^2
Assuming a car's about a 1.5m radius sphere, the Mass of that car sized black hole is about
10^27 kg (170 Earth Masses)
The energy released by annihilating twice that mass is about:
1.8*10^44 J
Or 4.3*10^28 Megatons of TNT equivalent.
For reference, the Gravitational binding energy of the earth is around:
2.4*10^32 J
So those two bodies annihilating each other release about 750 billion times as much energy as is needed to destroy the world in such a way that gravity never reforms it. It's also about the total amount of energy released in a typical Supernova.
It's a big boom. Physics will probably get weird in the center.

yeah, they are the same.
gotta remember, nuclear weapons come in whatever yield you want, and to ensure its safe to shoot out of a ******* giant gun, the actual nuclear payload of a round is most likely fairly small, so YES, it would do comparative damage to a giant lead-slug of the same or similar size/design, especially when your dealing with shooting it in space. |
