Ok, i've patched up to RMR and firstly i would like to say... good work CCP. Free content and expansion packs is certainly not the norm!
However, i am having something of a problem.
Since patching up to RMR, i have noticed a HUGE drop in fps. pre-RMR i would get a constant 70fps+. However now i'm lucky if i rise above 10 or 11fps. This is making gameplay considerabley less enjoyable, as you might imagine... and seeing as i got such a superb framerate prior to RMR i find it somewhat confusing.
The system i'm running is as follows:
NVidia Geforce FX5900XT 128mb Pentium4 2.8ghz HT 1024mb RAM Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS Win XP Home etc.
I'm using the most up to date drivers for all my devices and running nothing in the background. HOWEVER... if i disable windows [ingame] my fps rises considerabley to about that of what it was pre-rmr [70+] As soon as i re-enable them the fps drops right down to ~10 again.
Very annoying.
Anyone else having this problem? Is it a recognised one? Any help / suggestions? It's driving me mad!

Edited by: BoinKlasik on 16/12/2005 07:04:53 Ive got the same thing too! mayb i should try playing fullscreen even tho i dont like doing that at all... (tried it...no effect on frame rate whats the "disableing windows" you mean?)
ATI Raedeon Mobility 9700 128Mb
Pentium 4 3.0Ghz 512 mb ram winxp pro
dunno what drivers, its the stupid messed up indexing system dell uses.... Ill try updating them later just in case.
edit: I see what you mean...the chat windows are apparently causing it somehow ya gotta minimise all of em to get the fps back...what caused that anyway??? The Damsel is no longer in distress. She was rescued enough times that she got the hint and installed better security systems at home. |

Same fps problems here. It's making fighing extremely difficult. I also have skips/mini freezes as well. Worked great pre RMR.

Having same problem. 100+ FPS prior to patch instation, down to about 14 now, i go outside and its a slide show. I havent even turn my PC on while EVEs been gone, so im pretty sure nothing has changed on my end.
Specs P4c 2.6 ATI X800XL 1024Mb Ram, audigy 2 ZS Win XP home
Anyone have any ideas yet? Its pretty much unplayable right now, other than switching things in station. |

I didn't have this problem specifically, but some others in the Help channel were reporting that clearing the cache fixed the low FPS / stuttering problems. (Be sure to save "prefs.ini" and the "settings" folder to preserve bookmark folders.) |

I am now getting a third to a quater the framerate I was getting before the RMR patch. Was getting 60-80 in space before, now 25,10-20 in combat, station used to be 120-130 now 30-35.
Think I may just not play for a few days till they iron out these teething problems... there goes my weekend of Eve.

I'm also running a Geforce FX series card and getting 30-40 fps drops. On super-low settings I only get maybe 20fps IN SPACE and 10-14 if I'm lucky near Treasury in Rens. I'm even getting crashes that reboot my PC.
I first crashed when I exited the station, and now every time I log back in I crash as my ship warps back to station from safe point.
Everything worked fine before the RMR update, but I used the downtime to reformat my system. I've tried maybe 10 different driver sets from the Nvidia website and made sure every driver on my system is up to date. No change.
I've been working with the logserver app, but because my PC keeps rebooting every time I get the error I'm unable to save the data. Maybe one of you that isn't having OS crashes can pick something up?

Have you lot tried restarting your comps?
I was having trouble with mine, I overclocked the gfx card and the CPU, updated my drivers, tried the tweaks in the sticky and restarted. Getting 100FPS again :)

hmm I have similar setups to a number of the posters and haven't noticed a difference. There are some hiccups when opening a window with a lot of text (like Browse tab in Market showing descriptions of a whole category) but all in all not anything unusual.
Clear out cache files/chat log/game log maybe?

Its something on the servers.
My FPS came back for about an hour, and then fell back down to 19FPS in dock, and 8FPS in space.

Yeah, mine actually went up for a few mins to "normal", then went down again.
Cleared my cache, restarts, everything I could think of client side etc... I guess it is server side, but the CCP guys (and girls) are working on it so holding out for a happy ending.

Okay peeps. Firstly, they updated the graphics, therefore an FPS drop is common.
I get an AVG of 45 FPS at home
AMD64 3000 EVGA 6800GT 256 1024 Dual channel Kingston RAM
If all else fails, just drop you res from 1600x1200 to 1200x1024

Well, no, like some of us said, for a period we got our pre-RMR framerates back, then they dropped again.

Cleared my cache twice re-installed EVE from scratch installed EVE onto another PC

Like I said my systems not great Im only running:
2.7GB CPU GeForce FX 5200 64MB (yes its crap, but no problems before RMR) 512 DDR SDRAM

Well I've tried most of the same things as everyone above, including reinstalling stock drivers and back to my (previously working nicely) Omega mod drivers.
AMD-64 3400+ 1GB matched pair CAS2 Corsair ram X800Pro with pipes unlocked and overclocked to X800XT (non-PE) spec
I have tried without the overclock and with a BIOS that re-locks the pipelines and I still get the same issues. I'm starting to suspect a routing issue at the moment as I have good access to everything else on the web but am getting frequent disconnects from Eve, slow access to Eve-O forums and 5fps in a station (originally 7fps after RMR was patched in and 100+fps in the same station pre-RMR).
Friends in Wales, Denmark and Holland are all logged in with "reasonable" fps and good load speeds on anything requiring database access. Can anyone remember the IP address we were asked to ping/tracert to for routing diagnosis?
Cheers DC

After installing I also had a huge drop in fps, was down to 8fps!!
Anyway i found out that if i closed down xfire and restarted my client it fixed the problem, as soon as i started xfire again it went back to 8fps.
So if anyone is using xfire then try not using it.
Worth a shot. ____________

Same problem here.
When you Ctrl-Tab your HUD off, my FPS jumps back to what appears to be normal pre-pratch quality, turn the HUD back on and it drops to 3.2 FPS when docked.
Possible HUD bug?

No, its something else.
My FPS went back to normal earlier today, and then shot back down and it hasn't went up since on this machine.
P4 2.8E 1Gb RAM 6800 GT
My other machine that I just built has a 7800GT and it works perfect. I seem to think that its something with the 6000 series of video cards, but not sure. I'm going to install my old 9800XT in this machine and see how it frames.
