NO.
Our community manager explained this to us before, it costs ccp an absolute fortune according to him, and puts future server upgrades in doubt.
As a complete lover of eve, i realy wouldn't want to see that happen.

I think its appropriate to compensate the players, considering the patch has been a complete failure up until now.
I do however, have faith it will be worked out. Keep up the work CCP.

Stop boasting. Agreed, we lose time, and we should be compensated, but we dun need to know about your kickass 22 inch screen.

As you have already made a legally binding agreement with the CCP about the issue you could just drop it.

For the amount of money they'd lose out by giving us all a day on our accounts to make some people *****ing saying they want compensation for the downtimes shut up, they could buy a whole bunch of servers and actually RESOLVE the issue.
Which would you do?

I imagine they'll extend everybody's account by a day or so.
Most MMO's I've played, when having similar downtime problems, usually offered this (more as a courtesy then anything else); my guess is CCP will as well.

I was jumping with my destroyer through low sec space when the servers went down.. I had just logged in so I must have missed the warning.. Now I am pretty sure my destroyer is screwed since I dont have more time today and 12 hours or more in low sec are suicide.. I would at least like to be compensated for that with isks or maybe another destroyer if mine doesnt make it :P

Cry me a ******* river and then go for a walk, its more healthy than the previously mentioned candy bar you could afford with a 1-2 day refund of your $15/month.
(not to mention Herschey's chocolate ******* sucks......give me Cadburys !)

I liked the way Ultima Online gave all their customers a 'digital' X-mas present. Could be kinda lottery where people with 'bad' luck (AKA whiners) would get a basic mining drone - and the Uber lucky one would get a faction BS or whatever. Compensation doesn't always implies money ... They would make a lot of clients happy ...

They should charge you ú20 for the expansion and deduct 50p for every days unscheduled downtime. You'd still owe them money.

lets not forget that most other MMO's would charge you for such a game expansion however CCP do not. There is always some problems after a patch update so quit complaining its not so bad and its nearly Xmas so it gives you time to do some shopping.

What is it with this compensation nature?
At the end of the day CCP are doing this work to make the game better. They won't just taske down the servers for fun. No doubt they have to check, double check, and triple check that there is no work around before shutting down a server. Would you prefer to suffer 24 hours DT every 4-6 months, or have a game sit there and get stagnant whilst all other MMO's catch up, better it?

The only thing I really hate about this is.. its forcing me to put long skills to train that i dont even want to train yet. There should be some access to your chars to set skills EVEN if Tranq is down.

I wish people would STOP saying this "free" garbage as MOST of the accounts on eve are Alts and if they had to pay 2x in some cases 3x,4x,5s times for expansions eve would probably have half the accounts it does now.

I honestly think they should give back the time that was lost for trialies though. I couldnt play for 2 days, and thats 2 days less I get to test out this game and make a decision of whether I want to stay or not.

Yeah, perhaps you want CCP to start charging for expansions like most MMORPGÆs ?
ôIÆm sorry you can not train that skill until you have purchased the NEW AND AMAZING Red Moon Rising expansion.ö
Give me a break on the compensation issue.

Edited by: Idara on 17/12/2005 18:14:35 Edited by: Idara on 17/12/2005 18:07:14 I hate *people* who want compensation for the hour or so of unexpected downtime, especially downtime right after a major expansion.
What's a subscription cost? $14.95 per month? Average 30 days in a month? 49 cents a day? 24 hours in a day....2 cents per hour? You want compensation? You want maybe 10 cents credit, for lets say a 5 hour downtime on your account?
No. That's beans to you, but when you have to spread even 50 cents over the tens of thousands of accounts that EVE has, that's costing CCP thousands of dollars. I'd rather choke on the few hours a day, again especially after a major content update, of downtime than have CCP waste time and effort crediting every account and taking away from their funds available to either a) hire more GM's to seek macro miners out, b) pay DEVs more, or c) get new server hardware.
You aren't losing any money. -------------------------------------------------------- Lance Corporal BSC Military
