OK, just tried an enemies about mission... hear's my quam.
It's deadspace for starters, so you warp in right on top of the mobs. It's nothing but elite galante ships. 5 webbers/warp scramblers of the gamma class. At least 1 bs shooting me, and no chance to warp out once I found out what it was. Cerberus drops so fast I didn't even have time to laugh. Crap reward for this mission.
Add all that up, and it makes no sense to even accept that missions. I had a ship specifically built to tank that kind of mob, and yet had no chance in hell to keep up with the dmg output. No way of knowing what I was warping into, and no way of setting the distance I could warp into.
Don't say I should have taken a shuttle in first. LVL 4 missions are crap reward these days, especially compaired to 0.0 space. There's no excuse for that kind of mission. Why should 0.0 see almost complete removal of frigates and deadspace see an increase?
I don't mind losing a ship because the risk is great. I do mind loosing a ship when the risk is so great w/o any warning. I mean heck, my agent makes it sound like a cake walk. The payout doesn't do it any justice either... 650k reward with a 93 k bloodclaw bonus and 2500 lp.
That is complete and utter garbage what just happened. Especially when I did a Vengance mission prior to it with is rediculously hard in a Cerberus at the end because of the sentry damage.

Enemies Abound (1 of 5)
Mission briefing We've detected an illegal settlement in Niyabainen. Not only do they not have a permit, they haven't paid their taxes since, well, it looks like they've never had any intention of paying their taxes. We discovered them by tracing a large shipment of ship components and planetary vehicles headed for the Kimotoro market to their outpost. I sent a small team of security personnel to evict them but they reported meeting heavy resistance, forcing them to retreat. They nearly lost a cruiser out there ...
Considering your reputation, I'd like you to take care of the dirty work. Fly over to the settlement and try to negotiate with them. If they still refuse to leave, you have full clearance to take them by force.
This mission expires at 2005.12.27 08:32:40
Overview and Objectives The following objectives must be completed to finish the mission:
Kill Objective Take the residents of the illegal settlement by force and bring them to the authorities.:
*** now honestly, they joke about losing a cruiser to these ships....

another attempt to drive people to 0.0?
I stopped doing L4 missions after cold war because they were too long and/or hard to solo comfortably now 0.0 loot and bounties are improved and L4 are even harder for the same crap pay.

Because it's a boring grind to make isk maybe?
Warp to 'roids F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, .. Collect bounties Collect cans Repeat ad nauseam
At least some of the missions make a pretense at being interesting
Even mining is more interesting than NPCing in 0,0 which is really bloody easy if anyone is honest about it. Our corp. don't even claim any space but still most of them go 0,0 ratting on a daily basis. Sure, you lose the odd ship, but the bounty rewards far outweigh that.
I'm not a big moneymaker compared to others in JF, but that's because I have a very low boredom threshold. -- ** There are some men that things should not come to know ** |

Edited by: Luckyduck on 20/12/2005 12:30:11 I do hunt in both 0.0 and empire. My problem isn't the money I lost, it's the fact that the mission isn't in any sort of balance. Terrible reward for an overpowered mission.
Not to mention that it's poorly marked for it's difficulty. It really sells the mission under false pretenses, and that's what I'm so mad about. It's a pain in the ass to lose 200 mil to so crap like that. Not because it's expense, but because now I gotta go regear a new ship and even then, I doubt I can solo it.
So I also have to get help or forfiet the mission. In other words, I gotta do a lot of stuff I don't want to do. All I wanted to do last night was have a little fun for a few hrs, and that completely ruined it.

1st part: Good. 2nd part: It is a bit naff, but the frigs die so fast to drones anyway it really makes no diff.
Gonna have to say it, i know i will be shot down in flames but...Raven might be better :P

Don't even pull that crap... so what happens if I warp in with a shuttle and don't like what I see... OH yeah, .4 faction hit or I have to bother a friend to come help me. In other words, I have to inconvienience someone and then still have to wait til they are ready.
So after the hr + of waiting, we go in, and Wham, he eats it because we still undervalue the mission once we learn just how tough it is still. I don't think I can stress how fast I died... And that was one of the weaker groups out there.
Fact is, it's a waste of time to shuttle in.... Missions should either be correctly valued to get a sense of the severity, or they should be better explained.
That or they should finally let us determine where we warp in for deadspace crap. Deadspace missions are the biggest pain in the ass right now because you have so little control over anything there. Basically, your controll is the ability to fire. Can't set your range too start.... gotta go though every gate if you warp out. don't get any details on the mission difficulty. It's complete crap.
Not to mention that they completely killed all the bounties on deadspace missions so to do them in groups truely is a waste of time, because the the reward becomes tragic.

Well if the lvl4 are not meant to be done SOLO , then why was I able to do so BEFORE RMR
Changing it and dont telling to be careful as something hast changes fits to the numerous things the just didnt mention to us.
I personally want to know where and when they change the parameters , so that I can test it out again.
Im not pleased with the way they handeld the release and I grow tiered in waiting for the better ... in the end its just a game and if they want to force us all into corporations and 0.0 Space then I dont like it any longer .

Yah, if you have drones on you sure, and a webber for frigs going 600m/s.... Meds are the only ones who can do it at a decent pace against interceptor npc, but considering the fact that the time i died it didn't leave any room for that, well....
Raven = higher sig = more damage
Raven also has less of a tank against thermal and kinetic.
Also, if you read the mission, I had no clue what I was facing til I started it.... Just lucked out that it was Galante.
Raven would have more that likely gotten killed just as fast. Shield hardeners certainly don't stack the way they used to, the only difference would be the xl booster, but that would have eaten cap so fast it wouldn't be funny.

Go to 0.0 and see how long your little ships last when you have to constantly check half a dozen chats, maps and locals to make sure that a 6 man 'ceptor fleet has not made it into you "safe" ratting system and is ready to own you.
Enjoy the fun of coming back after a few days away to find that the station you are docked in is now in enermy hands and if you undock you cant re-dock.
Try sitting at a gate for 2-3 hours doing NOTHING 'cept waiting for 1 pirate in the system to get bored and leave so you can gank him so he wont come back again and again.
lvl 4's alone or in groups are nothing like the hardships you face in 0.0 so the rewards are balenced that way.

I know the hardships of 0.0
Get a clue on how to deal with 1 pirate in the system if you really think that's an issue.
My gripe is the fact that this mission is complete crap.... plain and simple

When doing level 4's, I usually run through with a shuttle first to see what's about and where it is, that is until I've got all the missions down and know what to expect for each one. It takes a lot longer when you first start out, but once you've memorized them you obviously no longer need to do this. If you are having trouble doing a mission (I used to have trouble with Rogue Drone Level 4's), go to the missions channel or forum and ask there. No doubt someone else has succeeded where you failed and can tell you how to do it (in the Rogue drone case, it's easy when you snipe from long range for example).
Anyway, naturally after a big content patch, I'm getting back into my shuttle to see whats about before I risk my 300 million setup.

Maybe because they were unbalanced, and has been trimmed now? From the beginning, L4s were meant as gang missions, people were just able to do setups that allowed them to solo them.

and that's my point, if they are going to make them gang missions, then they need to up the reward... ie risk v reward..... that mission would probably take 3 ships for newbs, or 2 seasoned pilots to complete at the minimum. I don't think the reward justifies it.

I did my first lvl 4 mission in a dominix, had to warp out 3 times before i could kill 2 1.4M ravens, 4 cruise missile launchers and 2 spider drone II.
I can easily do it in an apoc or raven. With the changes the raven tanks even better now :)

Its a screwed up mission that got my geddon as well. I blew it off, got a raven and went to the next mission. The payout should go up as go as more plrs turn it down, so the Devs say
... you will see more and more marketing which in turn will bring you more players to torture. |

Ok right...mate seems you stumbled accross the dreaded "vorpral bunny rabbit"....huh oops wrong game....
Well best way to do a level four mission is approach and line up with gate....activate sensors..."wow nasty bunch that crowd"....activate hardners...activate shield boost or armor repair unit...engage gate...come out of warp...align for warp...engage AB's and hope they really dont want to kill you today.
Failure to do the above?? CALL FOR HELP!!!!!

would it be possiable to just go and check the mission on Sisi before doing it on Traq ?
If it was, then finding that you would have the wrong ship, and the loss of standing would not be a issue, not to mention you could build a ship for that mission on sisi, come back to Traq knowing what you need, and do the mission.
Just another idea, is all . . not sure it'll help you, just thought I'd toss in another option for future missions

yes, i'm going onto sisi, praying i get THAT mission only to waste 4 hrs testing out how tough it is.
Fact is, the mission is bull. You all can continue to badmouth it or whatever, but it doesnt' change the fact..... feel free to try it yourselves and die happily in your merely little group of ravens all for 650k isk.
All I want is a better mission description or better payout for that kinda difficulty. otherwise, it'll be the most undone mission ever.

Got this mission today allso... Lost 2 Apoc's on it...
My tank was holding at 5 frigs and 2 BS Doom and Mega... launched drones to kill those that WS / web'ed me... Then the rest of the Fleet attackt me.. every ship was within 40 km from the begining... Lost the first apoc that way... Tryed again .. fittet 3 WCS, still couldnt warp... Attackt the Web / WS'es .. got gank by the hole fleet..
Mission Reward = 800 K isk Mission Bonus = 600 K isk Mission time = 4 hours and 13 mins.
Got an mission before that one
Free the Damsell it was before RMR..
Mission Reward = 1.5 Mil isk Mission bonus = 1.5 Mil isk Mission time = 3 hours and 50 min
That Gallente mission... think it was Assian ( 1 to 5 ) ?? Before RMR I could solo up to 4 hour and 30 min missions.. now I can bearly solo 3 hours.....
Agree on the sucky part...

You can't do Level 4 missions solo any more.
A bunch of old friends and I restarted our old corp for the specific purpose of doing them in groups once more, the way we did when they were brand new and dangerous.
If you want to do them in a HAC, adapt and get a HAC squad. Otherwise, L3s offer better ISK/hour.

Depends on witch level 3 and level 4 missions you get...
6 hours level 3 = 2 hours level 4 ... sooo I would rather spend 1 hour duing a level 4 then 3 hours duing a level 3 ..
But again, Level 3 = ZZZzzzzzzzzZZZZzzzzzzZZZzzzzZzzz.... I bearly Tank with my apoc in them... ----------------------------------------------- Regards
