Hi I have asked in many places, but never really got a square answer. I have two Caldari characters that live in Khanid. I want agents from that region and I have a good security rating 2.1 or so on both characters. I have docked at about 50 stations in each region but have gotten no agent. Does anyone know how to get a Amarr agent as a Caldari player? Or how to get a agent in the Khanid region? Suggestions?

I got gallente, minmatarr and caldari agents from docking (amarr agents as well) but that was a long time ago. In the past few weeks I did not get any agents by docking, it seems that it is still bugged. After the patch still all agents say "accept clients at dock: yes - but you don't meet the requirements"

You need to have 'friendly standing' of 2.0 or higher to meet the prereqs and get an agent. Double check that.
That's the max of the faction's standing and the corp's standing towards you, as viewable from your char sheet, and of the faction's standing towards your corp and the corp's standing towards your corp (not viewable anywhere in the UI at the moment).

Thank you Papa : ) So to paraphrase I need to get a ammar region corp faction maxxed and the genral ammar empire faction up to maxx. I have started hunting rats in Gehi in effort to get some corp faction but am not getting any as far as I can tell. I have a 8.0 or so with the Amarr empire. What is the best way, or ways to raise corp faction from scratch?

"So to paraphrase I need to get a ammar region corp faction maxxed and the genral ammar empire faction up to maxx."
... uhmm no, you only need either of these factions to be at 2.0 or higher. Your current 8+ towards Amarr empire would be way more than enough, except iirc there's still the bug in docking agents which prevents them from accepting you... o.o
edit: Incidentally, i see a potential problem with the new planned method of acquiring agents through the standings instead of referrals... without the referrals to get higher level agents, a new player is effectively stuck at standing 2.0, tops.(because working with lvl.1 agents will not allow to move any faction higher than that, this seemingly including also empire factions) This means, they can't get any lvl.2 and higher agents due to the low standings. The only way to get the faction higher is by shooting enough NPCs to move empire faction from capped 2.0 up to 4.0, which in turn means people who are not into fighting rats will never get agents better than lvl.1?... o.O

I think agent ladder should definately have a path for the non-combat guy, esp since agent missions seem to concentrate on the types of things manufacture and non-combat players do already...
As for the 'missing' factions - What is Agent Faction/Corp to YOUR Corp faction?
I know you said it isn't visible, but what does that mean hehe - ie: member of your corp attacks a <race> station and the faction is applied to all in the corp? (Not complaining - just pondering the ramifications) And is that stat 'in' now and merely not visible yet?

Thank you for the help JOshepine : ) I have been putting off starting to build agents until now becuase I have considered them too broken to start, I suppose I'll have to wait a bit longer :P

Hmm. Is it reasonable to assume that Khanid Kingdom is actually part of the Amarr faction? It was my understanding that Khanid split from Amarr due to some issues regarding the selection of the Emperor. It would seem to me that if your Caldari is living in Khanid Kingdom and not getting agents, he should be looking at his Khanid Kingdom faction standings instead of his Amarr faction standings.
Just a thought.

"Aye it turns out your right, does anyone know how to get khanid kingdom faction?"
... IIRC it seems to raise slightly if you do missions for the Caldari; gods know why, maybe because Khanid Kingdom is to Amarr much like Caldari state is to Gallente Federation and they feel some sort of psychological bond.. :s

The way the standing system vs. agent ladder is intended to work in the case described above, is that you will get missions that increase the (NPC corp->you) standing, and that will suffice to get you up to the next level agent.
The hidden standing numbers, such as how an NPC corp or faction feels towards your corp, are used and modified at various parts of the system. This f.ex. has caused some player corps to be hunted by certain empires, without even knowing why since the UI doesn't show these standings. Thus it's been temporarily disabled for NPC attacks. As part of switch from ladder to standing based, I'll be trying to get all that standing gung into synch. Agents f.ex. take these numbers into account in the "agent quality" standing bonus.

Start by selecting an agent that grants on dock. Determine his corp. Determine his corp's faction. Determine the faction's enemies and allies. Attack the enemies, do missions for the allies.
If you're in Khanid, you're probably trying to get an agent that belongs to a Khanid faction corp. I.e. one of Khanid Innovation, Khanid Transport, Khanid Works and Royal Khanid Navy.
Khanid Faction is actually not very hostile towards many people. They dislike Amarr Empire, Ammatar, The Blood Raider Covenant and Sansha's Nation sufficiently that you will be able to work your way up Khanid Faction by killing NPC's belonging to those factions.
They do like Caldari, CONCORD, and InterBus to some extent, so doing missions for corps belonging to those factions will also improve your standing with the Khanid.
This info is regretfully not available via the UI as far as I can tell, but will hopefully become available soon with the upcoming standing improvements. It will also be revised and verified at the same time.

... Could the improvements also include some sort of "About" tab for the NPC corporations, with a brief description and background of the given organization... similar how it's done for PC corporations now? This would enhance the game nicely imo... ^^;

Yes, please make this hapen. It feels kind of meaningless to work up standing to a corp when you don't realy know anything about them. |

And if you are Role playing as I am trying to do, finding out the corp tolerates slave-selling agents (Brutor corp) or has a bitter background toward the freedom movement affects how I play. This would be a great way to further deepen the player interaction with concern to agents and corporations.

Thank you again Papa : ), your standard of community involement is something that the other devs could prosper from following more closely. : ) I am thinking about selling minerals to the NPC corps in Khanid, will this increase my faction with the NPCs I sell to? : )

I just joined "Joint Harvesting" NPC corp and still I have no lvl1s which would accept me. My corps standing towards the agent's corps standing now HAS to be sufficient as they are the same :-) My corp standing is 5.09, faction is 2.21. So I can now say 100% sure that the bug that you can not get agents by docking still exists. Tomorrow I will try to find out if there is anything else that is interesting, never been in a NPC corp before (except the univercity/academy in which you are after creating a char)

Good point Ends, you should be able to build a good rep (although not as fast/far as by doing missions of course) with an npc corp by selling minerals to them or by being a good customer and spend lots of isk on their products. |

A brief story would of course be nice, but that's the perpetual "content problem"....
It'll happen eventually, but probably slow enough to bring tears to the eyes.
