Just thought I'd broach this topic don't know if it has been mentioned before, I was sat talking to my son the other day and he asked if it was a possibility to get the Eve Spaceships as models e.g. airfix or diecast...........just wondered if this had ever crossed ccp's mind as I know my son would definitely like to own his own Megathron etc.........(oh and if they do come out and start making them I want a cut of the proceeds:).....)
Oh well just thought I'd see if it had been mentioned before.....

Tempests look like they'd snap too easily and scorps have too many spikes on the front, it'd be a health and safety hazard __________________________________________________

Models were looked into and at the last fanfest a model was given away as a prize. I believe the Shin Ra from Burn Eden owns it.
And give your son a cuddle from me for being interested in EVE, I love to read about families playing EVE
Forgot what I wanted to write here... |

Me and my wife both play EVE, our daughter only falls asleep laying in my arms while I play EVE (for some weird reason...).
And the model given out at the Fan Fest was that of a Brutix Battlecruiser. I wanted one...

Er... It has happened. There's a brutix model and another model out there already, given as prizes. We;ll be seeing them in the store eventually.

We will be adding ship models to the EVE Store in the future. The Brutix from the FanFest (shown here in the hands of its owner, Shin Ra, winner of the PvP Championship) and also featured in E-ON Issue #001, is one of two prototypes in existence. It is also made with a new process allowing the graphics to be molded into the model. Unfortunately, I do not have an estimate on when they will appear in the store, or what other ships will be available.
Model kits are an entirely different animal. The process of making a model kit is lengthy, complicated and very expensive. We have looked into this as an option, but it is unfeasible for us to do.

heh, they can rebuild one of the top 500 supercomputers in world but can't pull off a plastic model kit. :)

Clearly that is one of the sexiest pieces of plastic in the universe and I will purchase one the instant it becomes available. -------------- What good are actions if there's no one to tell the tale afterward?

Give some thought to taking bids on contracting out the manufacturing of a few model kits to some smaller companies. I used to work for a game company (not computer games) and we were able to find some smaller companies that did it for decent rates and did a fabulous job for us. I wish I could remember some names but this was years ago now. Take a poll of the players and see what ships they'd most like to see as a model kit. Experiment with a few smaller models to see what the demand is like. Sure it costs more than just casting sculptures, but it'd sure be cool. Only problem might be that a smaller company might be pressed to keep up with the demand if they become popular, but something like this is likely to be a limited edition anyways. Personally I'd buy them all. Putting together, painting and customizing your own EVE ship models could become a whole new subculture in EVE... ---------------

Engineering a kit you put together takes a lot of work...but the digital models can be turned into physical models via stereolithography or other rapid prototyping technologies.
