Well, after you reach the bottom of the hole (that you dug yourself in, btw), the only place you can go is up. And each inch back is a victory. Anyway, even so, I still have the feeling that I'll love this expansion. |

What I'm seeing in this expansion so far, is a lot of sizzle but very little steak.
Yes, CCP is working on space for the first time in 2 years. The stuff being added is cool, but not the important stuff that EVE really needs.
Nullsec is no longer a sandbox. It appears to be a sandbox, but it's not. Every major shift in null politics over the past couple years has been a direct result of dev decisions, not player decisions. You'll know null is properly balanced when there is no status quo, when everything is always in flux, especially when devs don't touch it for 2 years. This expansion will do nothing to change the status quo of null.
Every other playstyle is still a dead end as well. While this expansion has plenty of shiny, it aims to make every dead end even deader (notably, PI, including it's likely effects on w-space.)
In fact, the only playstyle that seems to still offer any kind of freshness is forum warrioring.
I don't expect Winter to fix EVE. Even before the changes announced thus far, I wouldn't have expected it to really fix any dead ends. What I'm interested in is when we'll get a devblog about the summer's plans and it's title features. SUMMER EXPANSION SHOULD ALREADY BE PLANNED BY NOW. |

I hope that with the expansion, many smaller things that can be fixed will now get addressed and we will get some new content.
For the moment I can see this happening, when the devblog of the art and the changes like FW (and other features) will hit we'll see just how far CCP can cast its net in such a short time. Either way, they seem to be on track and have some other more long term plans. I wouldn't say I have regained my faith, but I am hopeful.
I am hopeful enough and I fully support the idea of people building, maintaining and running their own planetary elevators, there are 7000 stars in the EVE universe, each with up to dozens of planets. PI will be possible for concord towers in high sec but not for free (well duh) and low sec, in low sec you have to fight for your right to party.

I'm not worried too much about this expansion. I'm just worried that people will expect awesome expansions all the time. The expansion after 'winter', I'm a little worried it wont be able to match 'winter' or Apocrypha.
Will people will get angry again when the next expansion after 'winter' is released, and it's just average? |
