Edited by: Galaxion on 28/12/2005 16:11:38 Freelancers had a dominix, eagle and harpy.
Sudden Death Squad had a machariel, a vagabond and an enyo.
The winner: Sudden Death Squad by a wide margin. Their machariel had autocannons, and popped the nosdomi early on. The harpy went down next, and as I type the machariel is slowly killing the eagle. -----------------------------------------

Edited by: Galaxion on 28/12/2005 16:30:25 Now we have the Pirate Coalition tempest, muninn and hawk.
ASCN have fielded a sacriledge, a machariel and a rifter. There is also a harpy for ASCN (sub pilot?)
Machariels are getting popular no?
The fight? Both teams are moving the big ships to range, while the support is attacking in the centre. This suggests an artillery setup in the mach Oo. Seems to be a slow battle -----------------------------------------

The fight was Lotka Volterra and SMASH Alliance but I have no idea what happened.
Looks like SMASH only had two ships to begin with, lost one (a support cruiser) and the battleships gave up.
Lotka Volterra win in a very, very fast fight.
I dropped my radio feed halfway through so thats why I am not sure. -----------------------------------------

Edited by: Galaxion on 28/12/2005 18:27:29 Next is one of the contest favourites, BoB against the Phoenix Allaince.

The battle:
BoB splinter out to the right in a tactical maneouver. CNR targets the eagle of PA immediately. PA Dominix releases tech 2 drones. PA Eagle goes down quickly. CNR now targets the Dominix. Now 3v2.
Dominix being attacked by BoB's CNR and Eagle. PA Stiletto acting as a target painter on the BoB Taranis, presumably for the Domi's heavy drones.
Domi goes down. Only PA Stiletto remaining on the field to BoBb's entire fleet.
BoB score a convincing victory over the Phoenix Alliance.

The TS Cerberus starts right away by getting to range from the raven and firing volleys as it backs off. The TS Raven is slow to engage. First ship down is the NORAD Ishtar whoch goes down in less than 60 seconds. The NORAD Raven is hit heavily by the TS ships and appears to be the primary target and is being target painted by the TS Hawk. The NORAD's retribution is likewise painting the TS AF to allow the raven to destroy it. TS see this and the TS cerberus turns its attention to the NORAD retribution.
4 minutes in, and the TS lose their hawk to NORAD.

Now the schedule has been bumped up with some match cancellations, the next fight is definately Vertigo Coalition and The Confedration.
VC have brought an ishkur, a vagabond, and a raven (whatever happened to originality
The Confedration (TC) have brought a harpy, an as yet unknown ship, and a tempest.
They face off in about 4 minutes

Now we get to the fight between VC and TC (teehee they rhyme. I'm a poet and I don't know it)
VC make good early ground against the TC ships. The first ship to go down (very quickly) is the TC harpy. The tempest takes a heavy beating from the big ships of VC and the tempest's tank is shattered. The raven of VC closed very quickly (AB or perhaps even MWD).
VC demolish The Confedration for almost no damage, nevermind no losses. Not confirmed but I think The Confederation may have only had two ships.

In perhaps the most intersting matchup of the first round, the teams line up as follows:
G Alliance have sent a raven, a vagabond and a crow.
IRON have decided to meet that with a machariel, a support cruiser of some sort (gallente one), and an enyo. Ther is also an IRON Typhoon which I assume is a sub ship.
I have been moved to the fight so I can specate without waiting for the DJ's commentary :)

And this is the fight:
The vagabond is the focus of the early fire from IRON and the enyo of Buddrow also takes a beating early on. The first ship to go down is the vagabond. Next is the crow of G also.
Warchild's Machariel and the support cruiser (oneirous or howevr its spelt) target the fire on the only remaining G ship... the raven. It looks like this ship could be all over.
BTW.. quite laggy right now around the battle.
G's raven is taking a beating an concentrates solely on the machariel despite the support cruiser boosting him. The machariel's shield is stripped... -----------------------------------------

[31]
The battle:
The frigates are first out of the blocks, and the vindicator closes RAPIDLY and starts laying into the well-tanked vagabond while simultaneously nossing the vagabond. The dominix uses its drones and surprisingly... the ishtar drops. The vagabond succumbs to the vindicator's large firepower, and the vindictator turns its attention to the dominix. The crow of VI is working to take out the ishkur of Ushra.
Update: The vindicator goes toe-to-toe with the dominix... and loses! I cant really explain HOW becuase I don't know... but the vindicator drops against the dominix whicxh tanked the vindicator surprisingly well. The crow of VI soon drops as well to the overwhelming dronage of the domi.
Ushra'Khan finshes, with its Dominix and Ishkur still standing. But only just.. the Dominix was into structure by the looks of things.

Up at 21:20 then we have little-known Freelance Blood Alliance versus the heavyweeights the Five.
Freelance has brought a scorpion, a vexor and a raptor.
5 Have trumped them by bringing a rattlesnake (OOoooo), an ishtar and a jaguar.
So we know who is strgonest on paper, but remember we have already seen people like the MC go out and dominix's beat vindicator's... so lets see what happens a few minutes from now.

And the fight:

But... really.. everything is irrelevant in the presenc of the rattlesnake... which has completely obliterated that tanked scorpion of FBA.
The Five win convincingly without any ship losses. WoW! -----------------------------------------

Edited by: Galaxion on 28/12/2005 23:46:23 OK here's the fight:
The EFA diemos instantly rushes out to tackle the support of POS, as well as each side's interceptors. EFA's battleship stays at range and deplys drones. POS' zealot makes his way over to the battleships and promptly engages the drones.
POS' battleship, with help from its zealot, takes out the diemos fairly quickly after the diemos engages, then shortly (20 seconds) afterwards they destroy EFA's interceptor as it is tackled by POS' interceptor.
The Zealot of POS is tanking the EFA's only remaining ship, the apoc, very well. All of POS (who have 3 ships remaining) focus fire onto the battleship.
EFA's apocalypse can tank the focused fire of POS.. but for how long? It's drones are slowly picked off. We are 5 minutes in to the fight.
Update: POS have been victorious, with all three ships remaining on the battlefield. An impressive display, and they are progresing to the next round. -----------------------------------------

3FA immediately all dump their drones, and are approached by the FA Zealot as well as a MWD'ing FA Dominix (nos setup anyone?).
The FA inty is slow to catch up, and 3FA make the zealot the focus of their fire at this now very close range battle (<5KM).
3FA's mountain of drones relentlessly persue the FA inty which tries to run away. No casualties as yet about 2 minutes in.
The FA Zealot drops 3 minutes in, the dominix of FA is concentrating on nossing and droning the 3FA Megathron.
3FA then next lose their diemos after it is attacked ferociously by the dominix. the 3FA battleship recalls some drones off the FA inty to protect itself.
Now 4 minutes in, and the dominix also manages to finsih off 3FA's interceptor. This leaves only 3FA's megathron.
Update: The drones of the 3FA megathron do their job and finally kill the FA inty. Now is it just the mega versus the dominix. 1v1. Very close range. We are 5 minutes in.
Update2: They are still at it one v one.. and both appear to be nossing each other but this could be a bug. The dominix is proving a tough opponent as it chases the megathron who is trying and failing to move and gain some range. They are approximately 500m apart. We are 7 minutes into the fight. I do not have stats on health so I do not know who has the upper hand... yet.
Final Update:The developers have extended the time for the teams. Each others drones are attacking and canceling the other's out. Agatka's armour tank is failing faster than that of the thron. After 9 minutes.. they surely must be nearly both out of cap. The range is still unbelieveably close.
Final Final Update: 11 Minutes into the fight, and for the last 5minutes+ the battleships have been duking it out 1 v 1.
The FA battleship is DOWN!
After a very long, tedious, close contest, 3rd Front chipped away enough of the dominix to cause its tank to fail. 3rd Front progress and FA.. are out. -----------------------------------------

Right thankfully EVE came back and the battle was also delayed.. but here it is now:
The SE raven immediately goes for the CC Apocalypse. The inty of SE also moves towards CC to get the opposition. The SE ishtar is as yet unresponsive. The three CC ships are staying at their end of the arena and the support are not making any attempt to close the enemy. 60 seconds in.
Now the CC Zealot and Enyo are moving towards the SE fleet. The SE taranis is involved in a wild flanking maneoveur. The CC apoc is tanking the extreme volleys of missiles well.
Update: The CC Apoc is down! This is less than 3 minutes in the fight. The SE Raven has an insane ROF on his launchers! The SE raven casually shifts to the CC Zealot. Meanwhile, the other rmaining CC ship (the enyo) goes after the ishtar.. solo. I can se that ending messily...
Although the zealot has tanked the raven for about 60 seconds, it surely cannot withstand any more for much longer. It is actually lasting longer than the apocalypse. Meanwhile, about 50km away, the ishtar and two inty's of the opposing sides are duking it out with drones aplenty. We are 5 minutes into the fight.
Update2: In the space of 20 seconds, the SE raven pops the CC zealot and the drones of the SE's ishtar eat the poor CC enyo.
SE win rather convincingly with no losses. CC mounted a rather disorganised attack and it showed. -----------------------------------------

Edited by: Galaxion on 29/12/2005 00:49:21 Edited by: Galaxion on 29/12/2005 00:48:03 And the fight with many, many $$$ goes as such:
One team engaged the other before the thing started...
but now it has started!
IMP's CNR imediately tears apart the MWD'ing KAOS stiletto in about 5 seconds. Then the CNR of DeathÖ turns its attention to the hostile diemos, while the IMP support cling to the CNR. The Navy Mega of KAOS has MWd'd with impunity up to the CNR and opens fire. I fear the diemos of KAOS will not be able to tank for much longer, and the drones of the entire IMP fleet (Ogre II's) are on him also. No-one in IMP has yet sen to the Navy Mega which is still rapidly closing. We are about 3 minutes in...
The Vagabond of IMP, which was the primary target of the diemos of KAOS, goes down 4 minutes in without much visual sign of a fight.
The CNR has left the diemos alive and switched targets to the now very close (almost in blaster range) Navy Mega. The Diemos has also just popped the IMP frigate. We are 5 minutes in...
Update: It is 2 v 1.. but that CNR almost counts for two ships by itself. It's drones concentrate on the surely crippled diemos, while its insane missile spammage seems to be tanked by the Navy Mega, now well in its optimal and blasting seven bells out of the CNR. I do not have shield/armour stats at this moment.
Final Update: The CNR goes down in a blaze of glory after tanking the Mega for approximately 2 to 3 minutes.
With two ships on the field (Navy Megathron and Diemos), the KAOS Allaince proceed to the next round. -----------------------------------------

Props to those who have the balls to bring in really expensive ships! Always wanted to know how bad ass a Rattlesnake really is, lets hope they keep it in for the rest of the tournament!
Cheers, LOWA
Thank you!
I'll be waiting at 16:00 to see if the devs spirit me away again to the battlefield!
I have a feeling that we will be seeing that rattlesnake again... it's rof was just unreal. -----------------------------------------

Well really to be fair I think they did a damn good job. It was the only thing I had to go on until about the IRON fight when I got moved to the place so I think they provided enough info. Sure, the DJ's may not have been that clued up on the ship types and such, but considering they had to sit about 50km away, cloaked, and werent allowed for quite a while to even lock the combatants to get health info - I think they should be commended. -----------------------------------------
