Hey guys!
I just recently joined the EVE Universe (EVE sounds like a girl, lol!) coming from WOW. I love the gear you can put on your ship and everything, and the crafting system looks pretty cool for ships & items. I also love the auction-house mechanics and the region thing and everything; makes me feel right at home coming from the WOW universe!
But there is one thing I'm not getting with this game! Why is there not a consensual PVP option - especially for us miners / indy guys?
After all, with the completely open perk tree that lets you train anything regardless of race / alliance, I thought that EVE is all about free choice? Surely I should be able to exempt myself from the PVP system too, especially if my ships have no weapon gear equipped? Or how about just arena-based PVP??
Although not as broad and popular as WOW, EVE is still a great game and I hope that the Devs can implement something like this to bring it up to WOW standards of awesomeness. I'll definitely be telling my friends in my WOW Guild about this, so they can come play too! What do you guys think?
P.S. Sorry for the long-ish post! A new EVE player. |

No one in their right mind will fall for this! Haha Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person." |

Hello and welcome to Eve. You're probably going to get a lot of different answers to this, and probably some people calling you a troll. If you are a troll, well played :). If not, WoW is a themepark and Eve is a sandbox.
They are very different games, and really you should get past comparing the two. Just remember, you consent to PvP when you undock, and don't fly (undock) with what you can't afford to lose.
hope this helps. ... |

This will not end well.
Is this the part where one types "not sure if troll" and "GB2WoW"? Also INB4AceUoweme.
On the slim off chance you are a true new player fresh from the awesomeness of WoW: EVE is not WoW. EVE is built on the ideas of conflict, loss, intrigue, open world pvp and general darkness. Non-Consensual pvp is a corner stone of EVE and thus a reason why this game continues to exist while most games that tried to clone the MMO world's most notorious outlier (WoW) have died gruesmoe deaths.

For all those people who think this guy is serious... I'm just going to leave this here. For a new guy he sure knows an aweful lot about how the cyno system in the game works in regards to getting to Jove space...
Lee Saisima wrote:I expect the cyno would have registered as coming from the system they were "slowboating" from, seeing as though the cyno ship would not have initialized the session change into the Jovian system. It would have just appeared on grid, and the system would still be registering in the top left as the original system, I expect. All just wild speculation and theory though. Maybe the ship would have jumped through into a huge bright-white hanger and a purple llama would have offered the pilot a "good price" on some V4 shaders for their hull for making it that far. Space is big remember, and full of things.

I rather enjoyed the world PVP in WoW. The lack of financial loss obviously had its downsides, but it also made people less risk-averse; plenty of fair fights with mechanics that put EvE's rock/paper/scissors to shame. It was also nice that PVE/PVP was interleaved; bored to death collecting X of Y for NPC Z? Good news! you just spotted a fruity elf over that ridge; time to bash skulls. |
