2 blackbirds completely shut down my dominix and blew it to shreds. Granted, it was in NPC fighting mode, but I thought I'd put up a better fight than that...
:(
Be safe when you venture out there...
Of course, no risk, no reward.
Any ideas on fighting npcs and staying safe from EW?

It's possible, more likely he CTD'd. What equiptment did you gimp off him any way?

I think he means he was equipped to fight NPs and 2 PC BB killed him.
What can one do? Nothing, actually. One lone BB can be dealt with if you have some sensor boosters and eccm equipment, but you cannot really defend yourself against 2 on your own.
Best way to defend yourself is to be in a system where 2+ other people are hunting as well, a quick personel chat should get them to you before the BB can kill your ship.

You can try to :
- Fit a lot of sensor boosters and ECCM, if you want to be able to fight them back
- Fit a lot of warp core stabilizers and MWDs, if you want to be able to evade them
And watch local chat like a hawk of course :)

True Ana, if the BB wing is specifically setup to kill lone ships, you can't do anything except flee.
TBH if you want to avoid getting killed like this, I recommend you zoom out to at least 50% away from your ship when you are in insecure areas. This way, you can spot incoming hostiles before they are all over you...

Yes, 2 well-kitted Blackbirds should do just that to an unsuspecting battleship.
ECM/ECCM needs tweaking yes, but nothing that would really change the outcome of being jumped by 2 Blackbirds kitted for PvP/ECM in a Dominix kitted for PvE with no ECCM/Countermeasures.
EDIT - That doesn't involve friends, that is. Friends are a good thing in 0.0 space

Drones, people! Don't even have a BS at this point unless you have Drones 5, Drone interfacing 3 at least and Heavy Drones 3 at least.
One of our Directors got out of a sticky situation in a BB vs. Thorax situation with 8 Heavy Drones. He was webbed, warp- and target- scrambled entirely, but drones have independent targetting and they do NOT like it when someone is shooting their master. He never got a turret round out of his Thorax after the initial salvo, but the 8 Heavies turned that BB into a wreck that had to run away trailing smoke.
He used 4 Praetors (EM Damage) and 4 Wasps (Kinetic Damage) (naturally the Haphazard Bazaar sells both of these fine products, you may contact our great Lord Hazara Khan in game to purchase some)

Yep, if you are flying a Gallente ships and don't have full load of drones you are cheating yourself out of a whole lot of damage. Of course they could pop all your drones before they go after you, but it should buy you some time. |

He could have avoided this using common sense, what was a blackbird doing in a 0.0 cruising alongside a bship?
Shoot first, ask questions later. Your safety comes always first.
This way not even 10 BB could have done it.

Not really.
A BB has a faster targeting speed and ECM/Sensor damps him before he can target it - the dominix cannot fire even one shot.

Some things:
1) I wasn't out fighting NPC's when I got ambushed. It was deep in JK-FIX and surrounding regions, and I was travelling back to Khanid/Gehi. They ambushed me at the gate, 30km out. Webbed and jammed.
2) My drones did buy me some time, but they were pretty banged up already due to my lazy drone usage (I send them out not caring if they get hurt, since they're so cheap).
3) I've faced one blackbird before, and it's a cinch. With hardeners, they'll run out of cap, get bored, or run out of ammo long before my shield runs out on my dominix. I use the 70% hardeners, and I use them well.
4) I guess the whole reason I brought this up was because I was surprised it took just two :) I am going to buy a few blackbirds to augment my already replaced domi. They're sweet.
5) EW is cool.
6) As I said, no risk, no reward. I've been making plenty of money out in JK-FIX, and you know, it's going to come to bite you in the ass some time. It was the most fun I've had in a while though.
7) I bow my hat to player killers. You guys have some skill. Killing stupid npcs can only take you so far. The guys who killed me were patient, friendly, and deadly all at the same time. They didn't even pod me at first, til I asked them to, to save me the 45 jumper back home :) |

I have to make a bow too, that's good playing spirit when you take your BS loss like that. Read and learn, that's what the rest of EVE playerbase should do! :)

Indeed, some good gaming spirit.
Incidentally, who said caldari ships = win? I beg to differ, they may not LOSE very much - especially 1 on 1, and they can be very much the difference in fleet battles - but they certainly do not "win" all the time.

No cruiser can beat an EW equipped Blackbird 1on1.
No battleship can beat an EW equipped Scorpion 1on1.
Gimme a scorp and i'll prove it :-P
