Look I agree when you are in low sector space then you are taking your chances. However when I am sent on a mission by an agent into sec. 0.4 spcae and then after I complete the mission I then get jumped by non-npc characters. While this may seem like fun to them I have about had it. This is the 3rd time in as many days this has happened. Don't talk about Kill rights because these are people way to far advanced in ships and skills to take on by myself. Also don't talk about bounty because it would have to be pretty good chunk of ISK and I need all I can get to rebuild. There has got to be a better way for a noob to get into enjoying this game however at this rate what is the POINT.
PLease excuse the ranting.

It would help if you were in a corporation with experienced friends who could go out and get even with the gankers... that's what we do when one of our traders gets podded by jerks.

While I agree with you thata corp might help. Since I am new I was wanting to explore and try out the game by myself first. Once I got the hang of it and decided if I like it then I would have been quite happy to join a corp. Especially if I wanted to advance into the upper ISK world.

Err... Decline the mission if it goes into low-sec and you can't take the heat? Buy or set up instas? Join a carebear corp with PvP experienced members who are willing to help out a less experienced corp mate (yes, they do exist)? |

I hear ya bro but there is strength in numbers and anybody going in non-secure space with a hauler (guessing thats what you had) is going to draw attention.
Just like ane of those wildlife shows about lions eating cute little carebears... its gonna happen.
Plus why play alone? It's alot more fun with friends. Feel free to look for our corp when you are online and apply for membership. We are all relatively new transplants from another game.. we use teamspeak.. and we help each other.
Safety in numbers.

Low seurity space is, LAWLESS space. It's dangerous, period. One can't walk through a combat zone and expect to not be shot at.
You can either stay out of low sec space, expect to take losses or except the risks and take precautions. Low sec space is dangerous for everyone that enters it, your not alone.
The greater the reward, the greater the risk.

The point is that if you don't want the risk, avoid low sec space.
Its that simple.
Once you're skilled enough to realize how to avoid enemies in low sec, you can go there.
The other day I flew into Syndicate to pick up some items. I was in a cheap frigate that cost me about 100k. I ended up with 100s of millions worth of interceptors on my tail, flown by combat veterans.
I got out alive, with all my stuff. However, it took me a number of hours of patient waiting and dodging - Proud member of the [23].

Exactly man if your not advanced enough to use a mwd or ab to speed your little frig or destroyer up to the gate then dont take the mission to low sec even if it lowers your standings twards the agent.Either that or have a advanced corp member with some spare time to kinda escort you from gate to gate

Either decline the mission (mission description warns if lo-sec, before you accept) or outfit your ship with defensive devices to allow escape if attacked. |

Let me see if I understand what most of you are saying. If I am new and I am sent on a mission by a game agent then I should just not accept it and screw up my status with the agent. It seems sort of dumb to have a game where the objective is not to complete the storyline.
My point with my first post was that how a few creeps can ruin this game very rapidly for a new player. And the respose I seem to be getting from everybody is to not play the storyline because the corps are the only way to play.
So in the end it seems forget about the story and either just mine or PVP or get out. This is too bad because I was sort of looking forward to seeing where it was all going.
Charlie. I want to thank you because you seemed to be the only one with suggestions and not just saying to get out of the game.

The newbie storyline should never give missions to low sec. I'd suggest petitioning it under Agent Missions in Progress.
Oh, and rejecting a mission will not affect your standing at all. You can reject a mission every 4 hours for free.

Not at all. I'd say the opposite--without them, the newbies wouldn't have the experience of low sec until they had everything to lose. Its better to learn the hard way when you have nothing to lose than when you have millions to lose.

There is no "storyline," if by that you mean the newbie tutorial missions. Its just a sequence of crappy couriers. If you mean the later storylines you get from doing consecutive missions, you can decline those if you want. I do all the time.

There is no "story", really, with agents. There's nothing you're missing at all. And its not "mine or PvP or get out." This is a flawed understanding of a game by someone who cannot see beyond the surface, and refuses to think.

sorry spike but im an old old player almost here since start... and almost all time not a pvper... well unless something cause me to do this. I wont gank anyone at gate, but THERE IS SECURE SPACE and UNSECURE SPACE. so stop arguuing about noob dying in an unsecure space... first of all there is a BIG WARNING before going on. IF u choose to not respect the warning and then die ... Its all ur fault... and if u choose to grow a bit at least to understand the game a little (and no 1 week is far from the requierement to understand eve) then u can get in with a little risk (of course the risk stay) and a way to flee if needed.

Actually if you autopilot jump into low sec there is NO WARNING WHAT SO EVER. You only get the warning if you manualy jump into it. Right so someone in a BS killing your frigate is FAIR. Ok how about i get a titan and then kill your BS is that fair? Just casue you don't gank people does'nt mean that 99.9% of the other "pvpers" would'nt. I understand this game fine. Its call gank the newbie as I can't kill anything else. Sarchasm (n): The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.

Hey man look the first week i hafd this i lost 4 destroyers the same way so dont worry it happens to all of us after a few of those missions you dont get them that often anymore. Tyr a agent who is in security there you usually kill some npc's But be aware they can be tough on a new player.Other agents will ask you to delive stuff like what you are doing now just always keep an eye on local and never engae AP when you have a waypoint set that way if a crrep is at a gate stay cloaked for a few seconds then egt the heck out of his path and if you are aproaching a gate always keep an eye on your overview if you see a pirate on overview warp to a plane t fior a few minutes and see if he leaves.

you are kidding right? you do not deserv eve... ive been trying to find a good pvp game since i left darktide in asheronscall, a game with risks! if you like MMO's without risks, where you can throw your self into battle without any losses worth mentioning then you are very lucky because that is 99% of the MMOs nowadays right there.

Try looking for another agent. There are plenty of decent agents in areas of high-sec space, that never send you to low-sec; you can find areas of high-sec space using the ingame map. Your Faction standing is your friend, it allows you to use agents from any corp within that faction; you can find a list of all faction corps by showing info on the faction. If it's combat missions you seek, remember not only the navy corps will have the agents you require.

I accept the risk of lawless space and I'm fine with pirates doing what they do...
But... you have to wonder what these assault frig drivers and such like get out of cowardly and unprovoked attacks on lesser powered ships.
If I had a strong ship I'd be looking for a fight in it for instance my rifter rubbed out an npc cyclone in low sec all on it's lonesome...
Thats the fun of the game,
But targeting noobs and miners with AF's and Inty's is unrewarding, dishonorable and profitless.

They're not targeting noobs. They're targeting everyone.

Here's how it goes.... - If you put yourself in harms way, expect to be harmed, regardless. 0.4 and lower is considered harms way. - Use the "agent" tab on the Corporation Info window to find another available agent in an area NOT next to dangerous space. Maybe you can even find a higher level/quality agent. =========================== I am just another SOE SWG NGE Refugee. =========================== Is there a Lightsaber trade in Program? =========================== |

The first time you reject an agent mission, you take no standings hit. Then you have what, another 24 hours before you can refuse and not take a hit again?
SO refuse one and STOP ASKING FOR MISSIONS FROM THE AGENT for 24 hours. Go run a different agent or something. Mine. Shoot NPC rats. Go shopping. Find a corp to help you. Kill somebody.
Sheesh. It's not hard. Stop asking the game to change because you don't want to.
Edit: Also, keep in mind that yes, they shot you as you were a newb....but there is a reason. Do you have any idea how many people ship extremely expensive, small items using alts in newbships or shuttles? For ever 20 newbs shot down, there's one that was just an alt for someone who wasn't a newb that happens to drop a 2bil BPO or 1mil to 50mil item. ------------------------------------ Join Channel MacroIntel! |

Basically what it boils down to is this; low security space comes with an attached risk, and sometimes the risk is big, sometimes it's small, but it's still a risk. Or, if you prefer, a gamble. You are betting your ship, your pod, and whatever you have with you.
Now the fun thing is that you can influence the outcome by planning ahead. Use your map, check to see how many ships/pods were destroyed in the last hour. If any system you go through to get to your mission has an inordinate amount of death happening, you might just want to reconsider. If it seems safe, well, at least you have pushed the balance in your favor a little bit.
When doing your mission, if it's one where you sit close to a gate and pop off NPC's, keep your eyes open and at the first hint of someone trying to attack you, you haul ass out of there. If it's in the middle of nowhere, you can mission to your hearts content.
For gates, you always have the option (if possible) to scan the gate from a safespot to see whether or not it's safe to continue, you can also warp in manually at 100km distance to see if anything's lurking, or you can take a different route out of the system.
All of the above come with the inherent risk you might just get blown up after all, so hey, you're never safe in lowsec space, but at least you can make an effort to make sure you're, for the moment, not in trouble.
Also, losing ships? That's part of lowsec. I've lost well over 300 ships so far, probably more, and yes, they cost ISK, but remember this: don't fly ships in lowsec you cannot afford to lose. If you just spent your first 1.5 million on a destroyer, some fittings, and insurance, you better not fly it into lowsec. You lose it, you lose your cash. When you have enough cash saved to replace the ship you're flying twice, then sure, go ahead.
Just my 2 whole ISK.

I have had a few hours now to calm down and I want to thank you all for letting me rant. It seems some people Like Helene Troi and a few others get what I was talking about. Believe me when I say that I do accept the risk of being in low sec space. The point of it is supposed to be to let the noob's get some expereince fighting against harder opponents. Or so I had believed. I accept that and if I lose I lose. However in both of my situations it seemed a little unfair the way some people play. In the last time I had just defeated a 72,000 ISK NPC and it escorts. I was down to almost nothing by the time I had won. And here comes somebody who is out for a cheap thrill in killing something helpless. If this person had been willing to attack me one on one now matter what my standing and no matter how powerful a ship they had then I would have been upset but quite willing to have accepted my loss because of my own over confidence or air headedness.
I was on the verge of saying the heck with this and going somewhere else. But thanks to some of the comments and the generosity of HALIC. I have decided to stay.
When I had started I didn't really have any long term goals but now I do. NO! It is not revenge. However I will dedicate myself to getting good enough and strong enough to hunt down this type of player and making their life a living "H". Who knows if I can find enough Honorable players I might even see about starting a corp dedicated to this ideal. Unless there is already one and if there tell me where to join up.
Once again thanks for listening.
