I'm currently training up my Advanced Spaceship Command and Gallente Freighter skills to try and improve the agility/speed of my Obelisk, which is a bit of a beast really!
Advanced Spaceship Command grants a 5% agility bonus per level to ships requiring this skill. Obelisks are granted a 5% maximum speed bonus per level of Gallente Freighter, but with it being a Rank 10 skill (eek!) I can't see myself going for Level V at all. I don't yet know how long Level IV will take, although I could use the Character Manager applet I think.
So, I'm wondering what other means I could use to apply a bit of agility and speed to my fat little friend. Navigation skills must be a good thing, as should suitable hardwiring implants I'd hope, which I do have fitted.
How do other Freighter pilots maximise their ship speed and what skill level did you train the various relevant Spaceship Command skills to? Just out of general curiousity really.

I think instas are the only other way.
Navigation skill - 5% bonus to ship speed per level (only a Rank 1). Evasive Manuvering will help you align for warp faster, too.

Fly a minmatar freighter. IIRC they're smaller but faster and more agile. -- Lyrus Associates is recruiting

Webifier?! Goodness me, that's an entertaining one, I'll definitely be calling out for assistance to test that one I reckon.
I hadn't thought about the gang-assist skills at all, nor the gang modules. If I've got a web capable friend along with me, they could be useful too, although a larger ship would take time to get close post-jump I imagine.
I'm liking these suggestions, thanks Looks like I have some Navigation skill training time coming up... Evasive Maneuvering, hmmmmm.

Just remember that webbing is a hostile action in empire.
Makes the freighters fly away from the Concordoken beats that the webber is getting unless he is in your corporation. |

I thought you could be in a gang and not worry about that?

That's hilarious! I like that a lot!! So I'm warp aligning in my fat little friend and a corpie comes along in his sup-ed up Frigate (kitted for speed to get to me somewhere around the stargate as quickly as possible), hits me with his Stasis Webifier, and Wham! I'm in warp! Very nice indeed.

And that's a good reason not to do it during a war / or lower sec space. Usually a freighter can just log off before it is attacked and all but the most gank based squads won't be able to kill it off.
