Originally by: Titen The "War Dec the NPC Corp" idea has merit.. but then you'd be getting a lot of grief.
However, with a bit of adjustment, that might work.
How about a corp can war-dec an NPC corp BUT only cruisers and 'higher' ships with mining lasers on them can be targeted. Of course, once you fire on them and they bring in ally's to protect the group (haha) everyone is open season.
This would keep the 'noobs' safe and force the macro miners to use frigates to mine with.
Imagine how many frigates would be needed to match the mining capability of an Apoc or barge. I wonder if it would be 'easier' to spot fifty frigates in a belt with names like 'aalkjfeke' and 'aalkjfekf' than it is to spot three or four Apocs with the same name configurations.
The only other option I've seen mentioned that makes a lot of sense is to force NPC corp pilots into specific mining areas. If you're a pilot in an NPC corp, you can ONLY mine in the systems that have a station owned by your NPC corp in them.
But, the drawback to that is, all the noob belts would be stripped completely by macro users and the legitimate new players wouldn't have the ability to mine anything unless they joined a corp.
My 'best' idea thus far is to hit the macro users where it will hurt them the most - in the wallet.
Start an Ebay account.. it's simple and free. Bid highest on every isk auction on Ebay. Dont pay.
You have then NOT violated the EULA because you never actually bought isk on Ebay, you also have deprived the isk selling macro user from his RL money, you can then give a 'negative feedback' to the isk seller which will drastically reduce his ability to sell things on Ebay, and you've just cost the Ebay isk seller money out of his pocket because Ebay will charge them regardless of whether the sale went through or not.
Seven people with Ebay accounts could take turns.. each takes a day (because that's the least amount of time you can run an auction for on Ebay).. they destroy every isk auction on Ebay on their 'day', come back next week and do it all again. With enough persistance, the isk sellers will lose so much money they'll run off to some other game to play their 'game'.
In all that I dont see anything that violates the EULA of EvE. Maybe I overlooked something.. but that's what this thread is for :)
Happy Hunting, T
Yes - you overlooked something indeed. You will not have a problem with the EULA, but buying on ebay = legal contract, and if you bid and just not pay you have a legal problem in RW. |
