Originally by: Nukeitall An overhaul of mining as a whole is required. Something. Anything.
Isk farmers suck, but I can live with them so long as macro miners are expunged.
How can we accomplish an effective purge of macro miners? It's been suggested that some form of input from the player should be required, similar to EQ2's "damage crafting" system.
I leave it to CCP to fix this problem in any capacity they can.
Thanks.
Tbh I think this can be policed effectively now. Every time you see macromining/missioning en masse:
1. add every single name you see to the parties involvedd to a folder called 'macrominers' under people and places (I do the same to the xflldd123 xflelds233 sldfdl3339 names I see out there running level four missions, presumably to sell isk - the same as macrominers). You can then use location agents to track these people down when you're bored and looking for something to do.
2. Obtain 2 ships: (3 if you're scanning out missions, add a covert ops) 1 disposable destroyer fitted with 6 or more salvagers, a few cap rechargers and a 1mn mwd (10mn ab II for missions); 1 gank ship with tackle gear (I prefer the myrmidon).
3. Take your destroyer to the belt/mission that you've scanned and start wreaking havoc. steal ore if they jetcan. If they're doing macro-grab out of the cans, get a good running start and get that destroyer just above 1k/sec and bump them just as you suspect they're about to deposit ore or drop a new can. Then steal it. You can make a can right next to theirs and dump the ore into it before you steal it. Your mission is to get them to shoot at you or leave.
For missions, just go straight for the wrecks. Take the loot and salvage the wrecks. Mission isk farmers have learned to lock your puny ship straight off if they see you. WAIT for them to shoot, then retrieve your gank ship and attempt to take them out. Pay careful attention to which of the farmers have you aggressed, and make sure they use guns and missiles on you - there's a bug with a certain EW module that makes them lose your aggression timer just as soon as you warp off. They'll show up as red as soon as they use it (just like they shot at you), but unlike guns or missiles by the time you get back (in as little as 60 seconds later) you'll be unable to fire upon them. Or you can, but you'll get conkordinated.
If isk sellers and their agents are taking over your region of space, take heed to these instructions. Make them lose money. It can be done ingame right now.
