Edited by: Croesus on 12/01/2006 15:41:19 Learning skills are stupid as a concept. Instead of creating a skill that is, lets face it, totally mandatory to learn if you want to play this game at any level then ccp should have just made you learn skill faster from the get go instead.
I totally agree letting noobs have 5 in all learning skills when they start.

yes yes. you dont need them just like you dont need anything in eve really. If learning skills arent mandatory then nothing in eve is.

Thats just human behaviour. It is not a FACT that they are mandatory, but most people when presented with a choice between choosing something useful and not, will choose something useful. This is especially so in MMORPGs where players do not like to feel that other players have an advantage of any sort.
By that rationale you could say that alot of players feel that the Raven is the mandatory BS to fly. It isn't, but I bet you that some folk will feel they have little choice if they don't want to be at a disadvantage to anyone else.
The learning skills are useful. Thats why I trained them, but I didn't train them to the exclusion of anything else while chanting the mantra of "must train learning skills" like a zombie. I took the choice to train learning skills when it wasn't detrimental to my enjoyment, but at the same time I could see the benefits. I could've trained them all up front and done nothing else for a few weeks, that certainly would've been the most optimal way of doing things, but it wouldn't have been the most fun.
If you don't like training learning skills, don't train em. Its that easy.
If you don't like that fact that not training learning skills will put you at a disadvantage to another player in a few months time, because....oh no....he might train a skill a few days or hours faster than you. The my advice is to either learn how to train those skills without it impacting on your enjoyment or just go play another game.
I just post what i feel and i can assure you im not alone in thinking learning skills are mandatory. Its my oppinion without going into specifics that your downplaying many important things in your post while exagerating others. Thats just human behaviour. It is not a FACT that they are mandatory,
Im talking about my opinions and you rave on about facts Ofcourse its not a fact.
