When someone steals my ore can he gets flagged to me. Thats ok!. But than thieves usually transfer ore into another can. So now i have no chance to get ore back which was mine since i get flagged asap.
This is an absolutely nonsense!!!!
Will this be fixed? Would the current system allow this? I think no, since the new can from thief belongs to him and system does not track this!
What do you think?

Agreed. You can't have your cake and eat it, if you want to be able to shoot thieves, well, now you can. In fact I recommend that you do just that. However, the rules must apply to everyone.
Ofc, there are and always have been ways to 100% protect yourself from ore thieves. If you don't want to pursue those options then you're stuck with the risk, and no amount of outrage is going to make CCP remove that risk. They have given you the concession of putting the power to protect your assets in your own hands; now it's up to you to use it. -------------------------------------------------- - Suhadi |

It works both ways anyway. I did exactly that to someone, warped away, warped back into the belt to attack the hauler, the hauler left, I went back and got a battlecruiser, warped back into the belt again, noone was there, then just before I left the belt a Typhoon came in and pwned me at 10km.

Why don't people just use secure cans, or haul it back to the station on their own?
What, it's not efficient? Neither is tangling with an ore thief. Duh.
Deal with it. Adapt and overcome. Hire a bodyguard. Just stop crying about it.

I love this feature. Finally a legal way to fight macro miners. 1x thief and 1x macro hauler were executed by me so far. Not much but hey, gotta start somwhere ------ BlogÖ |

not sure if it's possible but the solution appears simple: dont flag the can, flag the contents with ownership

So the gamecode is meant to recognise he is a sneaky thief but you are an honest miner taking your stuff back?

The double-edged sword for can-flagging is kinda retarded, but if it didn't workthat way it'd be no better than having a thief get concorded if they defend themself.

Silly Carebears, before you couldn't even defend your contents of jetcans without being concord'ed, allowing the theives to take your ore at will, now you finally have a chace to defend and all you can do is whine about how you can't fend off ore theives!? Why don't you people try to get alittle creative with the mods and drones that you load and quit yer whining. It's only been a few days into RMR and already your bickering about this is getting old.
Oh and PLEASE for the love of GOD, READ THE FREAKEN PATCH NOTES!! and stop posting about how you shot at an ore theif and then he in turn WTFPWN'ed you as if you had no idea that it was going to happen.

I have had to change the way I mine to deal with this petty ore theft problem. I moved from a mining barge to a battleship and traded off my mining drones for orbiting medium scout drones. Thats enough of a deterent for ore theives.
I am taking a loss on potential ore production... but its worth not giving criminals the satisfaction of messing with me. As a side effect... my BS setup is secure enough that I have been able to move down into the 0.6 to 0.5 areas to mine. I haven't run into any ore theives in these lower sec systems since they tend to have a symbiotic relationship with the high security loving macro miners.
These guys are vultures... just make it a little difficult for them and they will go find an easier target.

Thanks for all your constructive posts so far.
To direct my post in the righter direction , i would like to say that i am only concerned with the fact that there is no tracking of the system to whom that originally mined ore belongs. Thief Flagging works fine to me.
But when you mention RL there is a legal possibility to get stolen stuff back, thats why i would think of an ore tracking system! And i am NO thief when I take / get stolen stuff back

The criminal flagging seems to be an attempt to give miners some recourse in recovering stolen property but with still maintaining a certain level of conflict between players. If this were closer to real life then you would file a report with Concord and they would deal with the criminal. But unlike real life... the game developers have to create 'laws' that protect criminals so that the game doesn't dissolve into a pure economic sim.
I would like to have the ability to booby trap containers... maybe at the expense of losing the ore inside when a thief loots them... but with a enough explosive force to take out a small frigate.

When you reach a certain level in mining skills and ship skills it is less efficient to use secure cans or haul it back to the station with every cargo hold fill up than it would be to deal with the occasional ore thief...
At about the time you start outgrowing your 3900 unit cargo container... you have to join a corp or buy a second account to act as a hauler.
I would really like to see some larger secure containers or similiar added to the game. I have heard that it is possible to anchor station vaults in orbit... but I cant confirm it myself as it would take a freighter class ship to attempt it.

Typical lazy carebear, or sense most of you hate that word, lets call you what you really are, a "Careless-miner". Anyway, look to the left of your screen, yes, it's not that hard, and see where it says "patch notes"? Click that link, a whole world of knowledge will open to you, and if you're not careful, you my actually learn how to play the game properly.

I'm not an ore thief, more of a macro hunter when im down in empire. But yes... if your silly enough to take back what I stole from you when im sat next to you in a battlecruiser, and your in a barge. You deserve to be shot
Its akin to being mugged. Sure.. you'll fight to get your stuff back, but if they are bigger and stronger than you, expect to be left in a heap on the floor while they run off with your stuff. Memorable Quotes <Jarltan Dimtras> OH MY GOD MY GF IS A DUDE |

Actually, my emotially challenged friend, this is the link I meant. The patch notes however, do not explain flagging properly. Not that you have read those mind... Tell me, are you able to distinguish your bottom bit from the hinge joint between the forearm and upper arm? I suspect not.
The can flagging seems a bit bugged though.

The patch notes explain it perfectly.
The effects of can flagging as a griefing tool were discussed at length for weeks prior to it being tested on sisi, let alone the release of RMR. If you are unable to understand how it works from all of the discussions taken place with regards to can flagging, the dev blogs concerning rmr, and the patch notes. Then the flaw is with yourself, not the can flagging. Memorable Quotes <Jarltan Dimtras> OH MY GOD MY GF IS A DUDE |

"Thief Flagging works fine to me"? So it's ok as long as it just works in your favour?
There is no need for an "ore tracking system" because ore ceases to belong to you once a thief has taken it (actually IMHO ore ceases to belong to you as soon as you transfer it to a jetcan ). It's now HIS ore, and if you try to take it back, you're stealing HIS property, so he gets to kill you. Don't like it? You're free to kill him first! -------------------------------------------------- - Suhadi |

Eve is not RL. So forget about it. Or may be you wish to have button "+1,000,000 isks on my account"?
I have no problems with thiefing - I/corporations will destroy thief ship. Why do you have problems? May be you cnot right game? Try EverQuest 2.

The new system is just as bad as before. It now lends itself to pirates killing miners. Simple take the ore in your little frigate transfer to your can. Once the miner shoots you or takes it back then you have 15 minutes to goto station get your BS and go pop the miner and anyone else who shoot at you and Concord will let you kill them. Just a new way of ganking miners for pirate wanna bes. If your goona Pirate have the courage to find someone and straight out attack them.
I think that once a battle begins and a ship is destroyed...either the miner or the thief then the timer should end and Concord laws should resume. Mine, Build, Sell, Mine, Build, Sell, Mine, Build, Sell...seems like work to me. |

Piracy isn't about courage. I say that as a pirate. Courage means lost ISK. Better to be a bastard and hit a soft target by taking advantage of tools provided. ------------------------------------ Join Channel MacroIntel! |

so should this apply to like corp thieves too? and people who nab items put up on public escrow by accident?
FROM NOW ON: ALL ITEMS will have a RECALL TO OWNER button. enjoy.
In short: Cry me a river, build a bridge, and get over it.
