Ya know, if they would put in a training queue, it would stop most of the "bring the server up, my training has finished!" complaints...
Personally, I would appreciate it if "news" would include a note when downtime was expected to end, on these days when it isn't ending on schedule.

I just wish someone from CCP would get on here and give us an estimate.
All in all as MMO companies go CCP is by far the best that I have come across so I try to cut them as much slack as possible.

OK, I can understand that CCP may be having problems, and people screaming and shouting about won't help. But would it be too difficult for CCP to post something on Eve's home page to say that they are having problems? They just keep quiet whenever they are having a problem. A simple post would let everyone know what's going on, and would probably stop a lot of the aggro.

@Squilch: They're busy fixing the server.
@Torgund: I agree. Though I think there's a reason it is the way it is...

EVE is the only game that I know of with a daily downtime. In my 6 years of playing over a dozen different MMO's, I've only encountered MMO's with periodical downtimes. SWG had this in the beginning, but that's ancient history.
It wouldn't hurt to inform their costumers of extended downtime. After all, we are paying to play.

Edited by: Sentinel Roqeze on 06/01/2006 13:34:46 Apparently, CCP have taken on a work-experience nerd to help with server maintenance. Keiron went for a coffee during the last half hour of downtime, and came back to this:
Linkage
Unfortunately, Nerdy Nincom**** appears to have mislaid the quasi-drive inhibition twiddly watsimajig and has to walk to the supplier in Denmark because he's had too much to drink to drive.

This was just posted in the eve-radio IRC channel: There is a problem with database which means the daily downtime is lasting longer then expected. CCP is aware of the problem and they are busy fixing it. I'll relay more information as it becomes available. -Eris Discordia

City of Heroes and City of Villains has scheduled daily downtime. World of Warcraft has daily downtime too, it's just not scheduled. :)

Wow, looks like I'm the lucky one...wife got me new movies to watch and my skill finished before down time so i started another that wont be done for hours and i was just mining so I can sit here and stare at the screen and do nothing and be fine since thats what i would be doing ingame...so i lose a little isk.....i will just make it up later. Hey, CCP, while you're mucking around in there, you might give the hamster a treat so he works harder when you unjam his wheel. Besides we all love that little hamster. Give him a petting for me, k?
