What surprises me looking at Local in lagged systems is how few people pick names that anyone can remember. That after all is the purpose of a name, it's a label by which others can identify you.
Good writers of fiction are careful with names. As an exercise, try writing down all the characters you can recall from 'Lord of the Rings' (assuming you've read it!). Lots? Now try with say your Agents. Not so easy, I can name half a dozen. Your Corpmates? The contributers to this Thread?
I'm not going to let Tolkien off scot free, it's largely his fault that RPG characters unlike real life people have only one name, with the get out that no one has the same name. Now CCP can do this easily, but in reality???
In part, it's CCP's fault . Character generation gives no indication of how Eve names (ie NPC names) are actually formed, and consequently we have most people importing names from other games they've played that don't match at all. A brief note that Eve names are personal name + family name and roughly match up to their Earth origins, eg Gallente names are sort of French sounding? And some examples?
But I'm supposed to be picking cool names. So I'll go for those I can remember:

When I first read the title of this thread, I was thinking along the same lines as you. This thread is more along the lines of the coolest or most remembered name.
From an RP point of view, perhaps starting a new thread for original in character names.

Hm... in my almost 2 years of beeing now, in all the time i've been flying around i've never seen anyone else on top of the localchannel but me... I know there are names outthere with more zeroes (numbers) in front of their name but i think most of those arn't active or something.
Btw, this can have drawbacks as well, in a war if i fly in a system, the enemy immediatly spots me!
oh and btw, i never did make this name on purpose, i was just lazy and never expected to play this game past the 2 week trial, but here i am, almost 2 years later and regretting my lazyness sometimes
