1. Mostly true.. pirates, sometimes, don't always 'pick' targets as any target can be useful. Shuttles ferry around expensive blueprints, highend alts live in ibis frigates, etc. A good pirate has to take down anything he can. Most of the time a pirate will lock you down and tell you "give me money or I kill you", 90% of the time that pirate is honest and will let you go.
The biggest problem is low sec empire where if they don't kill you quickly and without thinking twice about it, they get jack squat from their efforts. So don't be offended if a pirate (any more than you normally would) kills you in a 0.4 system.
2. frigates and destroyers are 'newb ships'. They're useful even to highend players so don't think they're baby ships not worth using. A vet will use a frigate and a new player can do some damage in a frigate. All ships in the game have roles, most tech1 ships are cheap and easy to obtain but NONE are the 'end all' ship. Being on the recieving end of a battleship's guns may seem like they are the ultimate ship but when you're trying to fight off a few interceptors or fast frigates in one, forget it.
3. Accuracy is here.. the big ships have no problem with precision, they have more advanced computers and weapons. The big turrets, however, have trouble 'tracking' targets.. they simply don't turn fast enough. The further you are away in these big ships the easier it is to shoot smaller ships, (the less they have to turn to hit you) it is downright impossible for any battleship sized weapon in the game to hit an orbiting interceptor going at 1500m/s with an afterburner. Hell, most cruisers can't hit orbiting interceptors :)
4. yeah, me too.
5. give it time, it's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Not "oh just another day pirating" kinda easy, it takes some skill.. but there are more than enough tools for belt hunters in the game and the more you play the more you'll figure out how to use them.
and yes, eve is the best game ever. I dunno how many MMORPGs I've played and loved, but dthey didn't stick with me like this one. 2 years into the game and it feels as new as it did the first day I joined.. not only that, I don't see a time when I'll ever completely stop playing.
