In the forge, between the patchnotes release and the deployment of the patch, a lot of tractor beam BPOs were sold.
so, i thought we'd get people from empire region to post how many their region sold. so here goes:
The Forge - 16644

price history, view table. add up the totals for the last couple of days
edit: and they are buying them because they cost 80k, and until this morning the patchnotes said they would go up to 15mil, so everyone bought loads thinking theyd make a quick buck. then CCP decided not to raise the price anyway

wait is that not really retarded? i mean NPC dont buy bpos back. thus the only way to sell them would be to other players and im sure all the manufactures would of already had one or more bpos. not to mention its a hardly used module so no demand
and so far it seems 50k out of the regions listed. 50k units WTF - thats like a bpo per person in eve
wow eve players are dumb

Whats the bets on numbers sold exceeding the total number of accounts in the game, about 90,000 ?
And people actually thought they were going to make money on these ?

Sigma,
Heimatar - 4990,
so I could argue for the superior Minmatar mind, only with a high of 289k - must have been a stray Amarr

Yes, but people saw only the possible profit margins and didn't stop to think that the demand for these bpo's would be so low by now, that you would be lucky to sell one of them per week. Let alone that hundreds of people were buying them. So supply would greatly outnumber demand, even if CCP raised prices to 15 mil, I don't think it would have taken long for the player offered bpo's to drop in price to maybe 100k each.

86012 X 81000 = 6,966,972,000 Spent on Speculation.

Oh please. It wouldn't have mattered if ccp raised the BPO's to 15m, you would never be able to sell them all. Next time think of the demand of said item before you buy stuff.

It's not stupid... they bought the BPOs for 80k... thinking that when the price jumped up to 15mil, they could throw it on the market for 14mil and still make a killing... not stupid, just didn't happen. *************************************************

Yes it was dumb
There's no demand. They were selling like hot cakes. I reckon that no more than 400 would sell a year - if we're up to 86,000 sold so far, that's 215 years to sell the lot. I doubt players will want to wait that long, so they'll reduce prices. They'd be going for 80-100k (possibly less) before long anyway.
There's better things to invest your money in to make a profit more quickly.

If they were selling like hotcakes... there was a high demand. CCP said they were going to raise the price, so some people decided to take "advantage" of it. The price didn't get raised, and now everybody owns three. It doesn't make a failed business attempt stupid. It just makes it a failed business attempt. Though, I didn't buy any BPOs, that doesn't mean that the thought of making an extra 14 to 15mil off of one doesn't sound inticing. If the prices did go up to 15mil then we'd all be sitting here cursing CCP for raising the prices because we couldn't take advantage of it. That wouldn't make US stupid either.
It is stupid, because its obvious that unike Small Tower speculation for RMR, everyone can pitch in with something as cheap as 81k. Now, unlike small towers again, there's not much demand for tractor beams, so anyone with 2 braincells to bang together can figure out they are not going to sell en masse. Simple as. The only reason they were selling like hotcakes was BECAUSE of the speculation, BECAUSE everyone can pitch in and buy some. Demand for tractor beams did NOT drive the selling, idiots did. Stupid idiots who wasted their money.
