Edited by: Odel on 10/01/2006 15:28:09 Hi, since today's patch as soon as I click on any character to show the portrait in local or right click show info the screen starts to flash between the game graphics and black. Previously everything was fine.
System is WinXP Pro 64bit 1GB RAM P4 3.0 and ATI Radeon Xpress 200 integrated graphics card with 128MB assigned. Updated to latest ATI drivers from their site today and this didnt fix it. DirectX 9.0c and also added the december directx update still no luck.
A Second Install of eve client has the same problem.
Tried this in windowed mode and full screen, 1024x768 and other resolutions and with other colour depths. Was AOK yesterday before this patch
Anyone any ideas?

Same specs here, same problem. On my other laptop (Intel Pentium 4 3060 Ghz and ATI Radeon Mobility 9100 IGP with 128 mb shared memory), my drivers keep crashing (bringing down all Windows). ---------- Please fix the scan probes!!! (also included a guide to use them) |

Same problem here. Everything was fine yesterday (and never any problems before), now i get the screen flashing between black and graphics.
My setup
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+
Graphics Card = ATI Radeon 200 Series, 256 Meg.
Will try messing with the graphics setting and see if it helps....(although why i have to do this when the thing has been completely fine until today only CCC can know).
Thanks a bunch CCC.....game is unplayable.

I have the same issue with my laptop. Turion64, 1gb ram, ATI Radeon XPRESS 200M 128mb.
Cleared cache, ran logserver, filed bugreport.
Removed Eve, reinstalled.
Removed and updated all drivers, to both HP (its a HP machine) drivers, and later the latest from ATI themselves.
Reinstalled eve again.
And now, hopeless :) None of it worked I'm afraid.

Short-term sticking plaster information:
this bug will only occur if the game tries to download a new portrait. If you can log in at all, make sure you have the game set to "never download portraits" and do NOT show info on anybody, unless you are CERTAIN their large-scale portrait is already in your cache.
If your own characters' portraits are not in your cache, you won't be able to log in at all.
Long-term solution: must be something to do with ATI Radeon drivers. That seems to be the common link. (I have one too : I'm about to try and update drivers). ________________________________________________

I don't have one yet. I don't even know if there ARE any more up-to-date drivers than the ones I have; I'm just going to go and find out. If I find a link to drivers generally I'll post it here.
*edit* ATI store their drivers here. ________________________________________________

Successfully loaded EVE onto an older computer, logged in, then copied the "Pictures" file from the cache from the old computer onto my laptop (with the problematic hardware). Now I am able to log in, but as suggested, trying to "Show Info" is a shot in the foot.
Also, I was under the impression that Catalyst drivers weren't applicable to 200M and other integrated chips, only seperate cards.

I've downloaded the Catalyst program and installed only the driver, which is apparently valid for Xpress 200 (my card) and assorted others.
However, it still hasn't solved the problem. gonna try copying the pictures from my old PC as you suggest. ________________________________________________

I am having this problem as well...
AMD Turion 64 AMD Express 200M (I think) 1GB + of RAM
I did the 'never generat picture' thing in the graphics option tab and reloaded...
Started blinking again as soon as I selected to have a conversation with a new agent...
Damn...
