Who had the bright idea to make container icons red ? Now my heart starts racing everytime there is a container within 100km !
Can we make them orange or purple ?

Was just about to make a topic about this.
Definetly make them a different color...green, orange, yellow, purple, whatever...just not red.

Personally I would have rather seen it not implementated at all. I had a jolly time killing macro miners/isk farmers by tricking them. Now its going to be more obvious the can isn't theirs. Its not as if they cannot read the criminal warning or go to show info on the can to see who it belongs to.

I was wondering what a "Flagged" can was... Apparently it's every can that isn't my corp's... Can we at least get the option to turn the colour change off?

yes please. the red can make ratting more difficult due to the rats blending in with the cans.

I've been watching my Corp chat for most of the day on this subject and I have not seen a single comment that likes every can in the scanner being red. Red stands for DANGER. Cans are not dangerous even if you rob them and get flagged, the can is NOT the danger. Go into an Asteroid belt to mine where there are a couple hundred cans anchored and try to see an NPC rat before it jumps you now. Not possible since it's red + just blends in with the overabundance of red cans. Leave the RED for things that are truely dangerous to the player. Make the cans Blue for all and Green for your corp or owned. (These colors were the most commonly suggested in 6 hours on chat) But get RID of the red before you have tons of Petitions about ships lost because unable to see enemy till to late. And You know it will happen.

Whatever colour you pick some ppl will dislike. So it needs to be user-setable.

I agree that being able to set the color would be great!
If anything it does need to be yellow, maybe orange, but red causes so many issues when we are so trained to look for red to spot pirates, war targets, or anything of that nature.

The cans should have a warning colour on them, not a danger colour.
Orange or yellow is a great colour for the cans to be while red is not.
Hopefully this will be changed but if it isnt... well then that is somthing we will simply have to get used to.

Let's reverse the logic on this.
Since there are way more containers that are do not belong to me than those that do, why not make my containers green and everyone else's white like they used to be ?
That way there is no "color" clutter and it is obvious what I can open safely.

I came here to post this same topic too.
Please, any color but red. Red=Enemy. Enemy=Something I need to worry about attacking me.
Unless you plan on making cans aggro me for no reason, please - for the love of all things decent and good in UI Design - choose another color.
I understand it's based on your standings toward the owner of the can, but that person wouldn't appear red to me either, unless they were actively firing on me. Red cans only increase the confusion in a situation. Yellow might be better. Or just the old gray with a tag of some sort.

Agreed.
Lost like 3 pod kills today just because I locked the container in a hurry.
Oh well, removing containers from overview helps to that.

I kind of like the ida of my cans being geen or blue and puting all the other cans back to white. But at the very least yellow or ornge. How many people have locked a can by mistake. I know I have becuse the darn thing was red.

Personally, I see no point in the colour of the cans. You get a big enough warning when you go to take from them anyway.
Also Red was a bad choice. Some drone complexes had a red can in them as the claimable level loot and now you could be looking at useless player cans.

Whilst I agree that Red is a terrible colour choice for loot cans, I would also really like to see a timer on them as well. Given that the falgging of cans was designed to prevent ore theft and ninja looting, I don't see why abandonned cans shouldn't become unflagged after a certain time lapse...say 1 hr or so, given that they pop after a couple of hours anyway. So many cans are left lying around after destroyed rat spawns now. It's messy

I think it should be:
Green for MY cans. Blue for corp cans White for cans owned by people or corps I am not flagged as hostile with Red for cans owned by people or corps I am flagged as hostile with
But that's just me.

Ohnoes, they're faint red.
How about the MASSIVE bug which paints colour all over them according to standings?
