wait these things actually require thought and work? I mean i understand that if there are lots of cans it can be annoying but i've never had trouble navigating and working the overview. --------------- RIP - Smoske, My Friend

It's more than a pain in a lot of places, it's downright confusing, especially when your scanner's also bugged.
The background colour is the issue, not the very faint actual can outline, from my POV. And "ships only" DOSN'T work, ffs.
Warning: above post may contain traces of sarcasm. "Corpse cannot be fitted onto ship. Only hardware modules can be fitted." |

Strange... I can set the filter to only show other players and their ship classes, and it works. And even more odd... I can tell the scanner to use my overview settings and I only get results about player ships.
Indeed, a mystery. Or more likely it's a swing and a miss on your half. --------------

I'm not sure what some of the others in this thread are trying to work out, but these red cans are troublesome for me as a mission runner/NPC hunter that picks up his loot. I'm doing Caldari COSMOS missions right now and I frequently jump into complexes where others have left cans scattered around. So I look at my overview and then have to pick out the NPCs amongst other peoples cans in all the red icons instead of just picking out red icons for hostile NPCs.
I haven't had a problem yet with shooting other peoples cans, but I can see where the issue might crop up for some people. Right now it's only adding more time to what used to be a quick scan to seperate hostile NPCs from other space junk. The color needs to be changed to something other than red or there needs to be a way to customize the colors of overview icons for users.

Why do people think that removeing cans from the overview is the smart thing to do? It may be for them, but their inability to think about how other people use the game shows their lack of insight. ---- Nifty |

Originally by: Futher Bezluden turn cans back to white. cans that belong to you show light green.
This is the best plan IMO.

*thwaps* Anyone that is in combat and continues to use the Default overview settings deserves to die. Having gang members, cargo containers, and similar on a combat overview (remember, you can create multiple overview profiles) is nothing but clutter when you are distinguising events in time critical circumstances.
Looking at cargo cans is fine and has it's place. But not in combat. --------------

very much agreed. You warp in and it takes a while to realize what's going on with all those red cans.
Red=hostile ship. Period.

Originally by: Maya Rkell And if it's red on your overview, it might not be a war enemy ANYWAY. Bugged, you know. You HAVE to look in-space!
No, you dont.
Overview bugged backgrounds will not blink. Make your shootable targets blink, and bam. Now you can tell the bugged ships from the not-bugged ships at a quick glance. ------------------------------------------------ Derailing threads with logic since 1992 |

I'd say it was irritating and needed pointing out to the devs, but in no way worthy of a 3+ page thread.
What did people do before there were forums to complain on?
