CCP, If you KNOW that you're going to be tinkering with the server (like, I don't know, UPGRADING the Hardware?), how about an announcement before it happens?
Come on Devs, let's see a response here.
This was TOTALLY messed up.

Considering the downtime was not expected to be more than 1 hr as usual, I think they meant well. However, a little announcement that there are some upgradees happening and downtime may possibly be extended is always a safe way to go.

I actually used the extra downtime time to make a nice chocolate cake. Thank you CCP!

Wow, I bet you've been waiting weeks to use that, ever since you saw it posted.
Unfortunately, you have not learned when it's use is appropriate. Just so you know for the future, "Can I have your stuff?" is appropriate when someone announces that they are quitting. You'll notice in my post that there was no quitting announcement.
I hope this helps you to be a better troll in the future.

I don't think many people would disagree, but here's my suggestion...
Before every downtime, make sure you're training a skill that will take longer than 4 or 5 hours to train, just in case (it frustrates most players when they lose out on hours of skill training time).
Also, in the event that downtime is extended for whatever reason, watch some TV, read a book or catch up on some work you've shelved. The bottom line is, it doesn't help you to repeatedly click the connect button until the server tells you its restarting. We all know that half the time the server just fails and restarts a second time .
WTB the character described in this post (or check my BIO). I'm paying very well! |

Full agree !!
ok, if this happens once, than i say: ok, everyone makes mistakes...
but i have the feeling that this happens much often in the last times, and sorry, if i learn new skills and there is no message that the downtime is not normal, than i plan only 1 hour reserve for skilltraining
I pay for this game, and when there is an planed hardwareupgrade, then they have to post an info about this... ts ts, it this so difficult for them

And so begin the "Stop whining" replies. Why? I think it's fully justified asking for a bit of notice. Alot of people set skills to run and finish at DT, can only get on after DT (lunch break in the UK), and TBH if you're paying for something it's good to be informed when it's not gonna be working! It's called customer support!!!
Why do people bother with the "boo hoo", "cheese", "STFU" replies? Do you think you're in some way better and that you're antagonistic replies really matter to anyone?

In my opinion, skillpoints have nothing to do with it, and neither does the pittance that an hour costs.
The issue as I see it is the distinct lack of communication.

Yeah, and you know what, I'm really fed up of unexpected downtimes. Can we please arrange these all in advance so I can be sure of having a long skill?
Yes, that was sarcasm. Look guys, they have an hour downtime EVERY DAY. During this downtime, there are minor jobs that need doing, none of which expected to take more than the hour. However just sometimes, things don't go to plan. Deal with it. -- We are recruiting

Dam right its justified... considing ccps performance lately with "changing" the eve universe, if i'd known they were going to be doing anything i would have set a long skill training and gone to bed an hour ago..
that is truely stupid behaviour on ccp's behalf.
