So the scorp looks pretty uber!! Im thinkig of training caladari for a scorpion. Does jamming work on NPCs? Is a scorpion good in PVE and in PVP?
What do you all use your scorpions for and with Caladari BS 4 and long distance jamming 4 what range will jammers reach in a scorpion?
are scorpion pilots in demand?

Rats instalock, so you can't really keep their lock off of you unless you constantly jame then. As for flying the scorp, prepare to be the primary target in group engaements. :)

Scorp is an excellent ship, but it is not really a pve ship. It can tank extremely well and do lots of nice ewar stuff, but it sucks at doing damage. It doesn't work well alone either, it really is a support craft. Bad scorp pilots are everywhere, good ones are very rare. Both types are in demand.

Yeah, they're nasty little buggers to deal with. With 7 ECM mods and some luck, you could theoreticdcally jam 7 BSs.

I outfitted a scorp to try and absorb damage on lvl4's for my corp. The 8 mid slots do provide great tanking potential.

its very expensive to be a scorp pilot in PVP unless your alliance/corp has a full refund policy for ship losses. Getting called primary often hurts the wallet.

someones gotta be primary. i think this just goes to show how powerful scorp is in pvp if its always the main target

every decent bs pilot has backups fitted, putting ur chances to jamm some1 pretty low.
still possible tho - i prefer ravens because that now tho.

I really like the domi as an EW ship... far from the power of an EW scorp tho, but I can do much more while jamming, use drones, drain cap and still tank okej.

- PVP Yea the scorp is great for jamming. I wouldnt take on another bs in it alone
he has a very low damage output for the bs class, it might be the lowest. but he's great for fleet battles, I dout you can take out another bs or a large one without a very nice plan and skill
- PVE i wouldnt do it the scorp, it is a all out pvp ship if you want to rat hunt get a raven

Scorpions are indeed the ultimate EW ship, and good scorp pilot are in a lot of demand.
The scorp itself lacks firepower, but is an excellent fleet support ship. It's also pretty good at shield tanking - you've enough room for afterburners, multiple hardners, shield boosters and several shield boost amplifiers too.
And to top it off, it's one of the coolest looking ships of the lot. Lovely.

Its also almost immune to frigs inculding t2 frigs... Since it can quite happily jam them without much trouble.

Never Actually flown one, but the Rook, with its 10% bonus rather than 5% and its improved base optimal range and scan resolution (it locks like a Scorp with a Sensor Booster II without need of any locking mods) might be stealing the place for the ultimate EW ship ;)

While it is better at actually jamming, it's also horribly rare, two or three times as expensive (if you are lucky), pays out maybe 10% of its cost when it gets blown up, and will go pop much faster when (and it's always when) it gets hit.
Nice and all, but the Scorpion is cheaper and replacable.

Get ready to die. If you want to EW, get a Black Bird. Sure, it weaker. But it is better because it so much cheaper. Fly the BB for a bit, if you don't like losing your implants, your ships, and cosntantly buying new clones. . . then you know not to get a scorp. I EW in fleet all the time, its fun, but, after a lot of death. . . it gets old. . . untill you jam the whole enemy fleet and then warp out to save your ass.

I'd say scorps are the best wing-man you can ever have. As long as there aren't 3+ BS, being called primary doesn't matter a damn thing, since no-one will lock you long enough to do much damage.
Its a bad solo ship, but combine with a damage dealer, especially against close range BS and you will always either drive th eother guy off or kill him. Anyone who relies on damaging you VERY quickly to win is instantly shafted.

idd... most people actually don't have backups... But yeah, you'll be called primary a lot... there's lots of techniques to avoid that though... or use it to your advantage... You can do a lot more with 8 midslots than jam ;) If you are facing a good scorp pilot you should never know what he has fitted...

BBs can still jam a scorp b4 the scorp gets a lock. In major engagements BBs wont last long to keep the scorps jammed though. Rook is hmmm tasty, but Id rather be primary in a 60 mil ship than in a 200mil one or what ever rooks cost. Besides i think if the scorp is properly setup it can tank far better than the rook.

Unless everyone in your gang is flying a scorp, then prepare to watch your enemies warp out of there as soon as they arrive unless they can lag you hard enough to take you down.

With RMR tanking and mods, the Scorpion is easily the best shield tanker out there.
Here's a hint: Invul fields and normal active hardeners stack very nicely.
4-5 hardening mods, plus XL shield booster and amp, and you still have a slot free...
