He talks about having a second account to haul ore back so account 1 can stay mining. My question is wouldn't it be more effeciant to mine on the 2nd account as well instead of hauling? I mean say it takes you 9 mins to haul back thats only 3 cycles of ore versus a whole load in a retriever unless im missing something? |

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

That really didn't answer my question at all...thanks i guess. It's just a simple question that doesn't need a wall of text answer |

It's considerably more efficient to use three accounts for mining. Or four. Heck, go for 5. SERIOUS efficiency.
Translation: it's a friggin' game. If you're penny-pinching when it comes to one cycle versus align-warp-dock-unload-undock-align-warp-target times, you're taking it all way too seriously. But hey, if you're that serious, drop a POS in-system with a couple Small Ship Assembly Arrays, use that as a drop-point, and save all that dock-undock time. Even Align-To on your last cycle to save on align time for the warp-out! "Blow it all on Quafe and strippers." --- Sorlac |

I think Rengerel linked that thread because it explains his guide is out of date. The whole equation changed when they buffed the barges.
There are a lot of factors that determine which is more efficient. It is different for everyone. It doesn't take long to go either way, so why don't you try both ways out for yourself instead of relying on a forum full of trolls. |

In what way are you looking to max profit?
How many toons are you going to use in Level 4's?

That's the whole point i don't want to sub an account just to try it out i figured someone has done this in the past so was just looking for some quick info. I'am looking for max mining profit until i can get my main and alt's skilled enough to do lvl 4's. But it seems like the fill and go method would be best untill you had maybe 4 clients running with 1 orca and 3 miners. Just trying to brainstorm before i start subbing a bunch of accounts i figured there would be some good people left on this forum to help me out (which there is) and not full of troll's

When I originally wrote the guide, ore bays did not exist and the only efficient way to mine was with jetcans. That made the use of haulers indispensable.
Nowadays, you can either use a retriever or a mack if you want to mine while semi-AFK, or you can keep using a Hulk+jetcan method with a hauler.
Then again, you'll make more ISK by having two accounts mine in a mack and warp back to station or a POS to unload and warp back to belt. An unload trip to a POS, from warp out to warp in, can be less than a minute, even less than thirty seconds if you're quick, and a mack holds one a half can with its 35k m3 bay.
TL:DR the guide is outdated, I'm working on a new one. |

Thanks for the reply halada. I just have alot of thoughts running through my head about what would be effeciant and possible on my CPU without busting alot of subs. That helps alot since I just started playing the game I didn't know your guide was written pre-ore holds. I got a pretty good idea how I should go about this now thanks guys |

Won't the Rubicon features make your guide even more outdated than it already is? |

Unless you already have the miners, i wouldnt necessarily train them for mining, just mission until you get to 4s. Its really not that bad. |

Information being out of date is always a risk, for new players. Or even older players. Always be wary of that, when you read guides.
Even in direct chat with older players like me, we might say something slightly confusing to you, because our minds haven't updated to CCP's jargon changes yet, e.g. how they've renamed certain skillz and skill categories. Or even module types. |

The game is so utterly different from when I started 3 1/2 years ago it's astonishing. Almost everything has had to be re-learned. Why do bikers wear leather ??-á Because chiffon wrinkles too easily.-á -- Paul Lynde |

IF you do have a second account having an alt you skill for an industrial is handy so you don't have to warp away. Its not very skill intensive (as opposed to skilling a second mining character) so you can train for the industrial and stop, then go back to training the main character on that account for other skills like mission running and pvp. |
