Thread cleaned up. Please do no post inflammatory remarks.
Tivara if you are not an alt this is why people are laughing and making such remarks.
A Celestis cruiser is cheap around 3-4million, whereas a Naglfar is around 1.5-2 billion. They are of completely different classes and buying and operating a naglfar is hard. It will take a lot of time to effectively use a naglfar.
As a word of advice try buying a naglfar when you have crossed atleast 15mil skillpoints , this is my personal opinion. For now buy the Celestis.

Actually, I'd suggest something completely different.
Since the Celestis is currently not very useful at all (please read the Shin Ra posts on the ships and module forums for detailed info), try some other cruiser like a Vexor or a Thorax. And then you set it as a personal goal to get a Carrier, since they are far more useful. Although fair warning is that you must, I repeat, must have a friend or alt to even move a capital ship.
It's good to aim high, by the way, just don't let the amibition get the better of you.

Whoa no, not like the nine to 5 job and 250 a week. More like being an average joe picking between a new family car and a Nimitz Class Aircraft Carrier. Diffrence of 40,000 usd and 8,500,000,000 usd. And the fact that you would have no idea how to operate a super carrier.
Oh dear god. If you are in less then a crusier right now it will take you a year to afford the dread, but it probably will take you the same ammount of time to train.

i have decided to PIRATE in a CELESTIS cruiser for a few weeks to secure ISK nessary for NAGLFAR CLASS DREADNOUGHT.
i have questions though before this GRAND journey begins.
can NAGLFAR CLASS DREADNOUGHT pirate well? if i fit WARP DISRUPTER i think it will be VERY GOOD
can i fit more than TWO mining lasers on the NAGLFAR?
ALSO
i think someone said that DREADNOUGHTS specifically NAGLFAR do very well in POS combat. can CELESTIS also engage in POS combat like NAGLFAR.
NO FLAMES PLEASE
IF THERE ARE FLAMES MODS PLEASE BAN THEM |

For the love of Zeus, PLEASE go back and read some of the things people have told you in this thread, because it's pretty obvious you have no idea what you're talking about, even if you've played "3 months."

Your journal of pirating in a Celestis:
Day 1: Celestis gets blown up on it's first encounter (the NPC's actually get the killing blow because the player is just tanking and laughing in Local).
Day 2: Make a post on the forums asking "What's better for mining/pirating/attacking POS's the AMARR SHUTTLE or a LEVIATHAN?"
In all seriousness though, if you want an awesome ship (for mining, pirating, or attacking POS's), get an Iteron Mark II, it has 750 CPU, and that's 50 CPU more than a NAGLFAR, so it has to be better. |

is an INDUSTRIAL CLASS STARSHIP that good for pvp. i did not realize the computational power of an ITERON MARK 2 was so powerful. if what you say is true i must reevaluate OPTIONS.
please elaborate FURTHER on the pvp abilities of ITERON MARK II. |

I would suggest training for the celestis (or a better ship like a BS) first. It'll be far easier to do and far less costly. Alot of the skills will cross over to dreadnaught usefullness, and by doing so it will give you a tool to use while you take the time to amass to coinsiderable fortune required to not only buy a Dreadnaught and the costly skills to fly it.
Thank you very MUCH for youre post. It was easy to understand and nicer than UNNESSARY FLAMES from other ppl.
I will go for CELESTIS and pirate for a few weeks for ISK i need for NAGLFAR. thank you again.
tell me the secret to buy a dread from piracy profit in a few weeks
/best thread ever award.
The Iteron Mark II Class Starship is a newly designed fully combat loaded ship. Endless piracy capabilities, and you have such a large cargo for all the loot! its like a pirates dream!

Tivari, a dreadnought costs upwards of a couple BILLION isk. There is no way you can possibly get that much money in a few weeks of pirating, excluding absolutley ungodly good fortune. The point is, you're wasting your time posting on this thread until you actually learn more about the game.
Of course, the above is completely irrelevent if you're joking. I hope this is true.

A Noble Goal of gettinga Dreadnought. However, a Dreadnought cannot pirate well. It cannot use Jump gates at all, and can only use a Jump drive which needs another pilot able to open a cyrnosal field.
THe cost of skills needed for a Dreadnought is roughly 1 billion isk and a Dreadnought is 1.2 billion roughly. Mods cost an additional few hundred million isk.
Training time to go to a Minni Dreadnought from A Gal Cruiser with only Small weapon skills at the moment (you stated you had to train to use the cruiser) will take roughly 1 year with Implants, barring training time to advanced learning, and so using fairly close to starting attributes.
Total cost will be 3 billion+ to by all of the skills to move from Frigs to a Dreadnought and buying the ship. Training time of 1 year, maybe more dpeending on how many support skills you train to level 5, electronics, engeneering etc. Projectile turrets, Citadel Launchers etc.
So Basically with the intention to Pirate a Dreadnought is a bad choice to make, it is designed to fight Capital ships, and POS. It is not meant, nor able to kill Frigs, Cruisers, or even Battlehips (they can kill BS but it is like a Raven killing a Cruiser with torps)
Your Best bet, as you already said is to train to a cruiser, then you will have no choice but to train to a Battlehip as the skill and ability is a pre-Req to fly a Dread. Fly a Battleship and pirate in that for a while, as if a cruiser tried to kill me It woudl sorely lose unless it was part of a well-oiled group.
Additionally Dreads cannot enter secure space, as far as I know, they are still limited to un-secure space.
We have a handful of Dreads at our alliances use for defense. Trust me. I am talking from experience, and by talking to those that fly them when called upon. They are not Good pirate ships, Cost a fortune, and take at least a dozen of onths to train for ignorring all other skills not directly related to a Dreadnought. I've played the game for 3 years. So the information I'm giving you here is based on lots of experience.

I understand the dilemma you've encountered. Back when I hit the 3 month mark I had questions for myself too. RAVEN or VELATOR? This riddle haunted me for many moons, I had heard wonderful tales surrounded both of these fine vessels. It took a while, but I trained for them both.
Personally, before RMR, I loved the structure tanked velator. It had an absolutely huge drone bay, there was no other ship you kill. But since the drone bay nerf, I've found myself flying the Raven a lot more.
I'm currently training for an Erebus. ----- ----- -----
