Come then you lot, Confess. Wots the dumbest thing you have ever done?
Heres mine to start you off.
Me and two corp mates who were new to the game flying around a 0.4 ratting. Nooby corp m8's say, 'I am bored of this lets shoot a real person'. Me says 'well I have a good sec rating and dont really want to shoot just anyone but hey I will take a hit, but dont pod them just do the ship.' So off we go in search of prey. We didnt have to wait long till we found a Celestis merrily mining away at a belt. Of course we all were showing as friendly to him. I was in my tech II fitted enyo the 2 noobs were in thorax's. So we all engaged and just as he's gtting to structure the Celestis gets to warp toward the gate (no scrams fitted). This is where I still shudder at the stupidity of what I did next! OMG I am going to confess to the whole eve community.
I shouts as loud as I could "quick he's gone to the gate, CHASE HIM......" hmmmmm as I enter warp and watch the pretty graphic a very cold shiver runs down my spine. I drop out of warp, yes you guessed it, the gate guns pwn me and the others drop out of warp and the guns then take them out......
Soooo....... we then sit there for a few minutes all thinking the same thing..... DUMUS YOU ******g T***... bleeeeeeepp bleeeppp

I once lost a uninsured megathron too 1x 5k and 1x 7.5k serpentis npcs (or something similiarly insanely weak, went afk for a while due to a sort of emergency and let my battleship sit in a belt with booster etc. running cause I expected to be right back and it was in a 0.8 system but the afk took a bit longer then expected and from the log it took those 3 npcs something like 15minutes to blow me up, but blow me up they did.

I was running a couple missions in Stacmon, getting my rating up with the agent to eventually get lvl3 missions in that area. I was in my Ishkur and I got a little bored. So I undocked and headed for the belts in search of some prey and prey I do find, a nice Covetor. I hit AB, scramble, release drones and go for the kill/ransom.
All of a sudden... "You have been targetted by concord"... *POP*
Wtf?!? I was so used to seeing the "0.4" of OST (short name for the low sec system next to Stacmon) where I had been doing all the missions, I assumed I was still in a low sec system. Had a good chuckle about that one.

Well, just last night I went for a bio break while my Taranis was parked next to same gate rats. Obviously I came back just in time to see the 3 red arches.
I did actually attempt piracy in my early months of EVE, by warp scrambling a hauler on a gate in 0.4 space. Before I could warp out I had the "ship is out of control" message, and the sentry guns popped my Thorax. I was lucky enough to be able to sit there in my pod and watch the hauler pick up my medium diminishing nos and named rail guns.

I wanted to mess around doing level 2 missions, so I bought a Firetail and put some of my faction mods on it:
Firetail (90m)
Gistii SB (65m)
Gistii AB (20m)
Fleeting Web (10m)
Domination Gyro x3 (300m)
Went to a belt to test it. Was a guy there in a destroyer. I misclicked a weapon button, and randomly, left clicked him in space as he was *right* next to my button where my camera was looking.
By the time I realised what had happened, I'd been concordokkened.
Thats how you lose half a bil ISK in under 5 minutes. In STYLE.

umm, im colourblind so one day i was casually flying by in Rens, my corp was at war and so i was always on edge looking for targets, all of a sudden what i think is a red square comes up on screen so i lock and open fire, damn orange square...

I dunno if this is a dumb thing. But I was heading out of 0.0 space in an Itty 3 with just nanofibs in the lows when I ran into a gate camp of about 10 people (i had come throught he gate so i had to align to the next one, instead of an insta saving me on the way in, which would have been better) and had 2 interceptors (I belive) chasing me for about 5-6 gates...at that point THE SERVER DIES. Im not sure exactly how i was expecting to make it away...but WTF? the whole node i was on crashed while im having the time of my life running like a madman.
The Damsel is no longer in distress. She was rescued enough times that she got the hint and installed better security systems at home. |

Well i hadn't been podded in 2 years, back when M0o used to camp aunenen, and I was new.
But last nite I was flying home in a pod after dropping a ship off in 0.0, and on my LAST gate from home I was chattn in corp while flipping back and forth to local when..
Ioctl and a corp mate of his had a bubble set up at the last gate before 0.1. I flipped back to local just as my pod warped, and ran smack dab into it....
"Complacency is the pod killer...." 
No implants lost (thank god for jump clones) but it showed me you should never let your guard down, even after 2 years...

Well I've pulled some real beauties in the just over 2 years I've been playing Eve. But the thing that really stands out in my mind is I was doing some ratting in my Raven, there was no challenge in the ratting I was simply getting ISK into my wallet hence I think I was starting to get complacent, I had this idea in my head I was at a safespot so I started to check my bank balance on the net etc etc, when I looked back at Eve I'm sat in a belt in a pod with 2 Guristas cruisers floating around me, seems I'd forgotten I'd warped to a belt. Bad mistake that was, but guess which dumb git went and did the same thing 3 days later?? Yup! Learnt my lesson after 2 Ravens tho

Had a prophecy once. Waaaaay too early in game. Flew around in it for 5 minutes, then decided to scan an npc hauler at a station to see what he was carrying. Slipped and hit the gun instead... Exit prophecy
Haven't flown anything bigger then a cruiser since, just couldn't afford it and didn't want it yet.

Took my nice shiny new cyclone, my first ever one, out into 0.0 to do some mining so I could insure it. Filled my hold with ore, and was flying back to the gate when some guy in a zealot jumps me. That was not a happy night

I tend to lose ships when playing half asleep and make stupid mistakes like forgetting to turn on hardeners/repairers.
So far I'm at 2xApoc and 1xDominix
But I'm happy to say I learned my lesson and nowadays I close EVE and go to bed the moment I feel sleepy.

I lost a Domi, a mega, and a thorax in one day. Last week, in fact. We're in the middle of an alliance war, and I decide to run a mission in my Domi while it's 'quiet'. Nothing in system, so off I go to the next system along... smack into 6 unfriendlies who look like they're about to jump into the system I've just left. I wait a sec till they're all close to the gate before moving off. Next thing I know I've got a faceful of red overview. Lovely. Lost the mega in the exact same way, at the same damn gate, about an hour later.
No complaints, at least they weren't laughing at me in local :)

I lost my very first ship Saturday. After over 2 months of playing EVE, I felt comfortable doing level 3 missions even though I had to warp out on a few. I always managed to warp out in time.
I was taking heavy fire from 3 Thoraxs in Illegal Activity and I couldn't keep up with the damage. I recalled my drones and aligned for warp. 30 seconds later and still no drones. "Oh yeah. I know how to get those drones back. Approach them!" 5 seconds after my ship turned to approach the drones I realized the stupidity of what I had done. By the time I was able to realign for warp my Brutix was a memory.
- The good news is that I managed to pick up all my drones!
- The bad news is that the drones were destroyed with the ship.
Note to self: Leave the drones behind.
My fault. No blaming lag, overpowered missions or the irritating drone AI. My fault and my fault alone.

I once forgot to turn on my armor reps on my apoc, killed in 0.3 by 2 sansha frigates all while browsing the forums. Never notoiced the damage indicators while moving ore into acan every 60 secs

waaaay back when I was first playing.
it was a late night I was falling asleep and my corp had just done a monster mining session (Yes... I hold my had up I was a carebear when I began this game)
Back to station and I needed to jump out of my rupture and get to another station to pick up my other rupture that wasnt kitted to mine. Sooooo I jump on market, go for the first shuttle click buy about one millisecond before I realised the shuttle was on for 9mil not 9thou.

after a warr i get podkilled for first time, so far all normal, then somedays later i fled to low sec 0.0 near marginis and finally decided to move back doing the old clone jump before RMR.
Then i learned Clones not last forever and u need to buy a new one each time u die
at least i only lost learning 5 sps

I once bought about 100m worth of T2 modules, and then set autopilot back home and promptly fell asleep. Home, at the time, was .4 system, and I awoke to the sound of my uninsured Raven getting blown up by a local pirate...

I'm still a bit of a newbie, so I should have done quite a few embarassing things by now... erm. 
On my first trek into 0.4 space I warped into a belt to do some ratting. Some poor sod warped out as I warped in - guess my name suggested I had other things on my mind - so I did the decent thing and told him in local I was set up for PVE, not PVP. He warps back in, that's the end of that Caracal. 
I also got a bit carried away checking the market details on a nice named mod I'd picked up during a mission, and didn't notice the NPC cruiser that had spawned next to my untanked loot collector account. What's that sound? Warped out on 8% structure, after racing to put the nanoexpanders offline.

arsing about with a corp mate shooting concord drones in an ibis for a laugh eventually got bored docked in my pod and jumped into my cerberus to head back to my home system. Undocked totally forgetting about the 15min agression flag

I moped for about 2 weeks after that and everyone in corp still makes fun of me

Warping to Yulai gate in Amarr to attack war targets, in warp I ran to the kitchen to grap my smokes, came back, saw my uninsured and my first Bs get blowned up to pieces.
Fell asleep in lvl4 deadspace mission, in my brand new Raven... You know the rest of the story

few months back, went AFK while autopiloting (been drinking) on the way back from helping a friend. Forgot i had to go through low sec to get there.
Walked back into the room, and found myself under attack by 4 MAFIA battleships at a gate. No hardeners on, half shields
i turned my hards and booster on, and flew straight at the gate. I got and jumped out there before my tank broke
i found this so ******* hilarious i jumped straight back through, to let them have a second shot. i then did the same, and sat on the gate shooting at whoever had the sentries on them, till they warped off. When my tank got low, i jumped again, and continued on my merry way

I have lost a few feroxes on LVL 3 missions by going in, warping out on low stucture, repairing and then thinking I could finish off the NPC's. On a good day I can, on a stupid day I have no chance.
Lost my prophecy when I had a mining set up in low sec. No-one told me the gate was camped on the other side and I was laggy toast as I was gangged by many bad men.
Lost my Apoc in low sec by hanging about when there was a fleet of enemies around. Don't know why the hell I didn't warp out and I didn't have and WCS as usual. Anyhoos I was gang raped...didn't like it anyway
Accidentally put a run for 100,000 trops instead of 10K
Got my mammoth busted a year ago when I was carrying everything I owned to another station whilst at war. Never move anything around when at war.

Mining in a nice friendly .1 system in my Brutix, rat I was tanking had me down to 25% armour. Rather than warp out, I wanted to keep the lasers running so I called on the friendly ratting community in local: "Tanking rats in V-II and running out of armour can someone help me pls".
It was only after I had sent my message that I noticed all the pirate names in local chat. As you can imagine they didn't have much trouble finding and killing me.

A long long time ago...in a system far far away...
This happened to a friend of mine called sutty.
Whilst shooting at an enemy battleship with his scorpion, he noticed the enemy has ejected from the ship... and warped away...
So in his excitement he ejects out of his scorpion and moves a little closer ...
One thing he forgot was that he was firing torpedos ... and there was still some in the air ...
As they crashed into the enemy vessel, the explosion radius hit suttys escape pod ... and there was a fresh frozen corpse ...
In the old old days torpedos were a little like smartbombs and hit everything within a radius when they exploded :)
Poor sutty.. he is a legend.

Well I have done some stupid stuff in my history, but I think this really takes the biscuit;
Drinking myself stupid and flying in 0.3 space, Brutix.
Nice bounty rats show up.
All high slots activated, all I get is "cannot activate this module on guristas ........."
Only left my mining lasers on from earlier. Damn took ages for me to realise why I couldn't kill the damn rats and understand that I should warp out after getting down to structure.
Result; Gave up drinking when playing eve.

an old corp mate Pat Sharp told me a story of when he ejected from his ship as a n00b - playing around with game and all. unfortunately the ship was still moving when he ejected, and all he could do was watch his ship slowly move further and further away as he gave chase in his pod. of course this was near a very popular station at the time, so his mistake was for many to share in local.
i've done my share of dumb things too, but this, well, was classic Pat Sharp.

This one time at band camp...
Really, I was in a probe one time and was ninja mining in low sec space. I was tired and decided to head back to a station with the load of Bistot I had in my hold. That was a couple of systems away. So I head to the gate to find it camped. But I is smart! I got hit once before I warped to an asteroid field. Once at the asteroid field I totally forgot why I wapred there and I jump right back to the same gate. I recall the pirates saying "back already?" when I jumped in. OOPS!
Never play Eve when tired.

Only yesterday
I was doing the Lvl3 Portal to War 2nd stage ( The one with the 1 hour time limit before the Amarr gank fleet arrive ) well any way I do the first stage no problem, then I get called away from the PC, was away for about 50 minutes , totally forgot what I was doing and warped into the second stage, 15 seconds later my Raven is toast and I'm checking the can to see what was left .
3 x Invulnerability Field 2's
6 x Arbalest Heavy Launchers (yes heavies on a Raven )
2 x PDU2's and 2 x BCU2's Destroyed
I'd only insured the ship the day before
If you go over the hour on Part2 of portal of war DONT go into second stage.

I could count the number of times on one hand if I held a frigan nuclear calculator. I am new to eve so I have gotten into a few bonehead mistakes.
1) I thought the rate of fire on guns were the FREQUENCY at which they shot. It never occured to me that that was how long it took it to fire. So I had pretty bad guns until someone finally told me otherwise and laughed in my face 
2) Not know that Egghelende was a bad place for a week old character to have his entire living in. This is a funny storry, it wasnt until I told my corp mates that I was there and they quickly told me that I should get the F%** outa there. And what do you know it, the second they told me to leave, pirates blocked the gates out. Well I thought I could just be patient and wait in my indy in the docks until things cooled down. Well Unfortunetaly I deeply underestimated these guys. I warped in at about 30km to the gate and saw that there was no one there, so I went for it ( and went afk, dumb idea). By the time I got back I was a corpse, wonderful huh? Well fortunetly for the pirates it was their lucky day. I was carying around 3 million isk worth of Quafe, bet they had a party after that. I didnt bother taking into account how slow an indy takes to get through 30km.
3) Accidently buying the item I want in the wrong place, which has been anywhere from 1 - 7 jumps away.
4) Attempting to bring slaves into the Gallente controlled space from Ammar. I had a mission ok? It told me i had to take slaves to him, but I failed to take into account that they might think I was smuggling them. 
5) This is probably by dumbest thing I ever done. Decided to join a firgate tournament my corp put on....Well I decided an INcursus with blasters w/ antimatter would be good? Not exactly. Person I was against thoroughly killed me without me ever laying a finger on him. Apparently my boosters couldnt keep up, I was only gaining about 50m/s on him and he had railguns. Big embarresment for me that day.
WEll I will cut this post short here, if you want to hear more (*crys*) you can convo me in game heh.

A rifter group I was in one night killed a cyclone. I was happy and grabbed all the loot I could carry. Not wanting to risk losing the loot I just grabbed I warped to the closest station to dock. I see the sentry guns lock on to my Rifter and yet I still didn't think that they were about to blow me up. Couple seconds later I'm sitting there in my pod.

Last week two BoB were reported as being inbound towards the system I live in in low sec. As BoB normally flies through the region in frigs and HACs, I figured I'd grab my AC tempest and see if I could get a gank or two at the gate. I jump into the next system just as the two BoB members arrive at the gate...in an apoc and a tempest.
They jumped through on insta, and since it's low sec I figure "Why the hell not follow? My ship's insured." I'm MWDed to the gate and jumped in after them just as the tempest was warping off. The apoc was still there, though, and my crazy ass decided to see if I can take down the apoc before the tempest gets back.
I engaged the Apoc, scrambled, webbed, and nossed him, and activated my multispectral jammer. I was actually doing quite well, despite the fact that the jammer only worked every few cycles. It helped cut down the incoming DPS, and I was managing to tank both the apoc and the sentry guns. He was right about to go into structure when...
...the tempest warped back in, and the burst damage put me right past the edge of my tank. I popped about five seconds later.
(I had my revenge - warped my pod back to station, undocked my raven, lured them to a planet, and proceeded to own.)

well during the 5/coalliton vs xetic war (whihc was pre missile balacing) i went hunting for a fully stabbed raven which had been hitting lone frigs in corridor...fitted on my ship was
2 * arbalest siege (60 mil each)
3* zw (40 mil each)
1* arbalest assault launcher
2* named Nos
1* cl c5l (10 mil)
1* shiled boost amp
1* named cap booster
3* named hardners (pre tech 2 release)
5* pdu tech 2 (5 mil each)
well in the thrill of the chase i lost track of where i was...and ended up jumping into the Keb gate of HED-GP without relising...now any one whos had the pleasure of that system can guess the rest of the tail (and for those who havent i died quickly) well for a noob who was just 4 months old...lets say the loss of a 400mil bs was hard to bear

Just last week I lost a kitted out Megathron to pirates ratting in 0.4 (no shame there), but losing the replacement after buying the last bit of equipment because I was afk changing a nappy takes the biscuit. I'd undocked from the last station (hadn't realised it was 0.4) and then got called away - when I got back I was in a completely different station.
Apparently some guys had seen me seemingly camping the station, convo'd me to determine why I was there and then destroyed and podded me when the received no answer.
Can't really blame them for any of it (maybe the podding), but at least they tried to convo me (unusual in a 0.4 system) and were reasonably apologetic afterwards.
After losing 2 'throns in 30 minutes I decided to get a Dominix...

A few days ago I was traveling in 4gq with about 15+ hostiles in local. I wanted to check 9U6 gate by warping to a nearby planet and scanning the gate. I'm not sure what I clicked, but I warped into a bubble at the gate and got podded with 300 mil worth of implants.
It's really emberassing cause I knew that gate was probably camped and didn't plan to warp there. And I thought I was good at pvp and outgrown such stupid errors.
I didn't sleep the night before so my judgement may have been slightly impared.
Sad thing is I keep making such errors every now and then, really teaches one humility.

well ...right at the begining of the game when when i had only playing for about 2 months i stupidly got scammed 10 mill for a shuttle ...then i got caught out again when I paid 60 mill for an eagle ...that turned out to be a moa

I got podded four times in my first week of playing Eve. 
The best learning experience of these was when I decided to take a Merlin into a low-sec complex and attempted to loot some of the cans lying around. Didn't think the raven pilot there would be bothered, especially since I'd killed a couple of frigs just inside the pocket.
Of course, he probably wasn't happy that I'd looted the key to the next deadspace gate. You can guess the rest.

Sad but true Pt 1
I was lazy mining in safe sec belt in an Iteron - i.e. afk or web surfing most of the time.
After one afk period came back to find a pile of Concorde ships lying all around me! WTF?
Ohhhh - some dork has obviously thought I was easy meat, started to take me down but forgot where he was LOL.

Sad but True Pt 2.
Corp mate, who is normally an industrialist, was outside a Suroken station with his Raven. Had just fitted a weapon he'd never used before.
Smartbomb.
Also there was a pilot nearby, minding his own business.
Activate one Smartbomb.
What a mess.
We all creased up when we heard, the other pilot was shaken, sctratched but ROFL.
A memorial was left nearby - 'Humiliation Can'.

Just in case you ain't sure what happened there - Suroken, safe sec, smartbomb inflicts a bit of damage on other pilot - sentries let rip on plonker!

I thought i did something stupid a few months back, but compared to some things i've seen that was nothing.
Here i go. Started a lvl3 mission, Duo of death i think. Decided to get in my Deimos( only t1 equiped because apart from miners and ships i don't want t2). So i jumped to the gate, so far so good. I activated the gate, no problem there, and then( not sure if my hardeners were on) i started to read these forums. Came back to see my deimos in hull, tried to save it. That failed, 100mil down the drain. Still haven't bought a new one.

Not that serious as other stories here in this topic ... besides of a bit annoyance there was nothing that hurt me for longer than a few hours.
Had my new iteron mk2 fitted and thought - trading stuff could be nice ... checking the market i realized - wtf, there's tritanium quite cheap only a few jumps away ... and 5 jumps from the trit seller was a trit buyer which bought it for 0.2isk more then the selling price was ... and the first guy sells 15mio of this stuff -> nice i can make quite easy 3mio isk ... i only have to buy the stuff..
at this point i had 13mio isk - the 15mio tritanium would cost 27mio isk ... so i borrowed some money from a corpmate - and bought the stuff...
hell, was i surprised when i filled my iteron with tritanium and could only pack ~400k tritanium in it ... then i realized - this means 40 times my iteron ... 5jumps to the buyer and 5 jumps back ... ... this would have took me half a day or so to get some pesky 3mio isk.
trading is only for smart people
