Hi There,
I am planning to use the following setup really soon:
5x Heavy Electron Blaster
1x webber 1x scrambler 1x Tech2 10mn mwd
1x Tech2 Medium Armor Repairer 1x pds 1x 800mm Plate 2x Magnetic Field Stab
If I am not too wrong this should do OK. But will be vulnerable to NOS with this setup.

I rate your st as 3 of 10. It's got about the same tank that my pod does. Just a little extra armor. Far to fragile. Electrons are crap. you could prolly pull more damage out of 5 small neutrons. ---"What's in your wallet?"--- |

Get rid of the PDS/MagStabs. Insert an armour tank.

I rate your setup a 3 of 10 as well, mainly for the lack of cap and armor you seem to be missing with your crummy low-slot setup.
I think that the Electrons are a good idea though. They do 87.5% of the DPS of Neutrons, but only use 45% of the powergrid of Neutrons - that's much more efficient, and leaves you with lots of room for more armor modules (which you are not taking advantage of!). Eletrons also track really well, thus more hits.
Change your lows!

It's already a solid setup. Switch the power diagnostic and one of the damage mods for an active explosive hardener and an energized adaptive hardener and you should be good to go. (This might require some training in all skills that lower cpu requirements, as well as named hardeners, but it fits.)
Sure, you're vulnerable to nos...but the idea is to kill your target before cap is an issue anyway. And a properly skilled up thorax can do that with relative ease.

Edited by: Britannica on 25/01/2006 15:09:57 if it will fit try some rails in the highs you might want to conisder swaping the 800mm plates for another armour hardener. taking less damage can sometimes be more helpful than having more HP, also plates slow you down a bit as well so you will get more speed which can also help reduce damage taken

Thanks for all the comments, they are much appreciated.
I have been thinking about my low slots, and came up with the following:
5x Heavy Electrons mwd, web, scam
Medium Armor repairer, 800mm plate, 3x energized adaptive nano OR Medium Armor repairer, 800mm plate, 2x energized adaptive nano, 1x damage mod
This will fit fine, with a bit work on my fitting skills (Weapon upgrades, Advanced Weapon upgrades)

I dont get it.. Ive just checked Ions and Neutrons range.. Theyre ****. Why would you use this over rails?

Because they inflict far greater levels of damage.
This is why the Thorax has an MWD bonus, so you can get in close to the target quickly and turn on the blasters.
Additionally, you will find many ships are placed at a severe disadvantage at close range which will also work to your favour. For example, you can orbit a BS at 1000m and he will not be able to hit you due to tracking/range issues.
Don't get me wrong, Railguns are a viable option, but to use the Thorax at is damage-dealing best you need to get in close with blasters.

yeah, but though i'm a minnie spec. char. i've tried a fax a fair number of times, and i gotta say, 200mm rails properly setup can really hurt. i had a "sniper" setup with 250's in the highs, web, sensor booster, and scram in mids, and 1 rcu, 3 magstabs, and a 400mm plate in lows, i 1 volleyed anything frig sized, inties as well, despite the speed, and with iron i was hitting out too 65k easy, but blasters are more practical
