I've been playing EVE for a bit over a month and I'm quickly learning how to make money by mining minerals and using them to manufacture starships, rather than simply selling the minerals. I'm a member of a large corp who recently joined an alliance that owns a signifigant number of 0.0 systems. Naturally we're all excited about getting in some 0.0 mining, but I've run into a logistics problem. I need some way to get the loot out of 0.0 and back into secure (empire) space. I need to either be able to haul the minerals physically, or sell the minerals there, use a jump clone to get back to empire, then re-purchase the minerals...essentially an instant transfer of the cargo. But still being somewhat of a newbie, I know I'm probably missing some obvious tactics.
To sum it all up, how can I mine rare minerals in 0.0 space and either:
1. Make money with them which I can use to buy materials in secure space. or 2. Physically haul the minerals back to secure space.
Thanks in advance! You will be assimilated...bunghole! |

build ships and sell them in 0.0 for much more money or get into a elite indy with instas down the chain and use a scout

Get some instas and use a cepter, cov ops. For big loads you can try using a blockade running transport ship with plenty of WCS, defense, and maybe some jamming equipment. I don't personally fly transports yet, but a friend of mine likes them. Their purpose is to do what you want, hopefully they actually fill the role. Use a scout to be safe (alt/friend in a fast ship or shuttle)

Edited by: Sony CEO on 26/01/2006 22:15:29 You will find that mining in 0.0 space is not as easy as empire and requires some logistics and forethought.
First unless you ninja mine = mine until belt rats show up then jump to a romote local to drop off mins in a safe spot.. You will need some support, ie. a battleship tanking the belts spawn so miners can mine w/out npcs spawning upon you . You'll also need atleast 1-2 indys depending how far you are from a station in 0.0 , transporting ore to empire thats less then 1-2 jumps out is not a viable option plus youll most likely no find much there for rares. You can set up a POS for refining if there is not a station remotely close but then thats a few hundred millin isk as you should use a lg POS.. And 1 last thing you need instas and safe spots[:bear: Keep local pinned open and keep an eye out for bad guys....looks at blind man Try mining ina .1 or .2 for a few days prior to get the logistics etc down
Or go all out and just go , have fun watch out for officer spawns their battleships are a pain if they spawn on you.. And you will most likely loose ships and pods at some point so be prepared.

In my Zydrine Barron days i found that the best T1 Hauler was the "mammoth". This thing can align for warp pretty well, great slot loadout, 4low 5med (which means excellent shield tank and stabalised drive).
as the above posters have mentioned insta's are everything, also if your a solo runner its always prudent to make "gate observational bookmarks" in thos difficult choke point systems. an observational BM should be atleast 200k from the gate inorder to safely check for blockades.
If your crazy like me and think your tank will last for more than 10seconds, just run through most of the small blockades. Just make sure your tank is designed to put out huge amounds of shielding (it only has to last a short peiod of time). If your tank can drain your capacitor in 10seconds, thats a good tank ------------------------------------

Of course, you could put guns on your indis and use a MASS INDI SWARM to blow your way through the gate camp!
Why is everyone looking at me like that? It would achieve total tactical surprise!
[Note to nebs. I'm actually kidding! ]

I can hardly imagine an alliance, that owns a part of 0.0 and has not solved the logistics problem.
Perhaps you ask in your allies' chats and forums how the logistics are beeing done. Smaller allies with no permanent connection to empire and no dedicated protection force usually do weekly joint convoyes, where all member corps put in one or two indies and all other members defend the convoy together. Just ask the other ally corps, they face the same problem, and they should have a solution for it. --- All my statements are my personal opinion. I am not speaking on behalf of any entity, corp or alliance in this forums. |
